  1. My apologies, TP. I see now that you linked it when you posted it above. Thank you.
  2. Let us not forget that these folks are making a public demonstration on PRIVATE PROPERTY. This is NOT a "city" park. This will turn ugly before it ever thinks of becoming pretty. It's privately owned property. The property owners are within their legal rights to ask the human masses trashing their property to leave. If they had a lick of common sense, the human masses gathered there would do the POLITE thing and respect the property owners. But they won't. PS: When you copy and paste something from a news article, you really should cite the source.
  3. I agree. There should be shame and MANY apologies for how Natives have been treated, not just all those many years ago, but into today. It's never been right. And will likely never be made right.
  4. I saw the same when I lived in Alaska. I had many Native friends, but there was so much drug and alcohol abuse. It was heartbreaking. But it's good to have someone documenting the hopes and dreams of the children. Change has to start somewhere. And maybe recognition of this plight they face might help. One can hope.
  5. If you missed Drew's performance, you really ought to play that link to it above. It was Ah. Maz. Ing. That little girl can SING!
  6. Forgive me--it looks like it actually comes on at 10:00, not 9:00. Sorry.
  7. There were some folks who clearly need to leave. I was SO irritated...I watched all two hours, waiting to hear Chris Rene again, but he didn't perform. They will have the rest of the auditions before the mentor/judges on Sunday night on Fox. Sorry, but I don't remember the time. Melanie Amaro--another of my favorites--also got put off till Sunday. But there are two others I REALLY like who did perform last night, Stacy and Drew. Here are their videos. Drew: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MqSXmVcEi4&feature=player_embedded#! WOW! She's only 14!!! She has such a
  8. Is on tonight at 9:00 on ABC. It looks like it will be a really good program, and one worth watching. It's about children of the Lakota Tribe in South Dakota--their life, their dreams, and their struggles. So little is ever said about the life of Native Americans in this country. I am looking forward to this documentary. I hope maybe it can affect change for some of them.
  9. We drove up last weekend to Dawsonville/Ellijay area to visit Burt's Farm, and the colors on the road up there were just BEAUTIFUL! But I suspect the season will pass quickly because of the lack of rain. I think this weekend might be the best time to get out and see the color.
  10. It was bound to happen someday. And actually, I'm not at all surprised. We probably agree on a number of things. Sorry if I was tough on you before. Really. We can disagree and still be civil. Sometimes I'm not the best at that, but I'm working on it.
  11. you! However, I believe those same young people, and even those younger than they are (like my little grandson) have every right to be PI$$ED OFF that our country has been mortgaged to the max and they are facing paying back that bill. I get that part. It's the not working now and instead congregating on private land to make a public protest and completely trashing that place in the process without any sense of accountability or remorse OR apologies or consideration of leaving. You just have to wonder how people who would do that without conscious were raised. I get the anger. I do
  12. I love my job. But I'm happy for you! Though I will miss you in my Q.
  13. Uhm...ew. Glad your headache went away, though.
  14. Do you know of anything she collects, or particularly likes? The best gifts come from what you know about the person you're giving it to, and I don't mean bling or anything like that. Perhaps she had a favorite toy/character/cartoon/etc. when she was a child? If you could find a vintage item that is something she loved years ago, it will be a hit--I PROMISE! I recently received a boxed set of Jerry Lewis movies on DVD. 18 movies--all JL and some with Dean Martin. I ADORE it--and I happen to know the whole set was purchased for .25 at a yard sale. But to me? It's worth thousands
  15. While I'm irritated...I'm also Texan... GO RANGERS!!!!
  16. Mine, either. This was some sport nut's last-minute decision. Argh.
  17. BASEBALL?!?!?!? Oh, I am NOT happy. Who made THIS call? They are saying that there will be a two-hour X-Factor tomorrow. Irritated I am. Grrr. BASEBALL?
  18. Isn't he?!? It ROCKS!!! He's got Romney stammering...LOVE IT!!!
  19. My purples have a double trumpet. Unfortunately though, all that have come from the second and third generation seeds from that plant have had a lighter color and have been single ruffle, though they are still beautiful plants/flowers:
  20. I have five different colors growing in my yard TP, including purple, but none of mine did great this year. I think it was the lack of good rain. BTW, the purple ones, though they are related and LOOK like angel trumpets, are actually Datura. But they are so close, it's hardly worth pointing out. But you can tell the difference in their leaves. ATs have long, light green leaves, and Datura have deeper green, heart-shaped leaves. But they are all in the same plant family. I have the purple Datura, and a white I traded for a purple with a sweet lady here on pcom.
