  1. Am I the only one giggling at the thought of Paris Hilton and Elton John buying screws one at a time from a bin at ACE Hardware?
  2. Pot roast and root veggies in the crock pot.
  3. Do NONE of you get this? What the truth behind the propaganda is? Backing legislation that guarantees to the accused the right to confront all witnesses against him enables young men accused of rape by girls who were willing in the moment but cry rape when caught with their Daisy Dukes down to lodge a defense that might make some sort of sense, and PLEASE don't anyone say that this never happens--it happens all the time. I find it distasteful that any TRUE rape victim should ever have to justify anything about her behavior, IF SHE WAS TRULY RAPED, but it is equally disgusting that
  4. Oh honey...I am just speechless. You know I love you both. Sometimes it's so hard to understand when one family again and again faces so much pain and difficulty, but as others here have said, your strength and your faith will help you get through this as well. My heart just aches that you have to go through it. I'm here for you both. While I am not thinking of anything specific for you to ask the doctors at the moment, I do work about a block and a half from Emory, and I will come anytime you need if you need someone to be there with you.
  5. Sour grapes make bitter wine. And even worse hangovers.
  6. We ate there tonight, and overall, it was very good. At our table we had the flaming cheese for an appetizer--delicious. And as entrees, my MIL and I had the Mediterranean salad with grilled shrimp, my FIL had shrimp scampi, and my husband had the pork chops. While there were some problems with the service (they forgot the feta on the Greek salads for my husband and FIL, and they forgot the shrimp for mine and my MIL's dinner salads), both were quickly and apologetically corrected. However, the one thing that really stood out as a negative--the "garlic mashed potatoes" that came with

Tomorrow will be 4 weeks for me and my husband. We just agreed we'd quit, and did it. It's gotten easier, though I still think I want one now and again. It is a hard habit to break. But like others have said, I feel and SMELL much better! It also helped that we quit together. We held each other accountable, and we used humor and shared sympathy in the early days when it was toughest. Congrats to everyone who has quit and is quitting! If we can do it, so can you!
  9. OOOOOOOOOOO MMMMMMMMMMMMMM GGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! He is such a handsome lil fella! Love all the smiles and dimples! And SM, great job, as usual!
  10. I am contacting DirectTV this evening. Unfortunately, what I've learned about this company is that, even if the company they claim to represent verifies that the debt isn't yours, they will still dog you, and they will report it to the credit reporting agencies. I have been in contact with the big three, and they haven't reported it...yet. As I have been advised to do, I have filed a report with the IL attorney general (the company is based in IL, and the AG office there has already sued them twice), the GA attorney general, filed a report with the FTC, filed a USPS fraud report, I have fr

  12. Thanks. I put a freeze on my credit last night, and will be checking to see if it has hit my reports today. I'm not playing chicken little here. I did quite a bit of research on this company after I received the bogus bill, and without a doubt, sending them a letter demanding they authenticate this debt is absolutely the right thing to do. And from what I've learned, it might also be correct to file a report with the AG of GA. And possibly a police report, based on what I learn from the credit reports. This company is notoriously nasty, so not responding in a proactive manner w
  13. Thanks. I know it's a risk to respond, but the plain fact is, if you DON'T respond to such a letter in some way within 30 days, you inadvertently acknowledge the debt. I don't think NOT responding is even a choice. I can easily prove I have never had an account of any kind with DirectTV. So by responding, I toss their silly little fraud ball back to them, and the burden of proof is theirs, and not MINE.
  14. This bill might have been a worry to me if I had EVER had an account with DirectTV. But...uhm...I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCOUNT WITH DIRECTTV. Ever. So, I did a minimal amount of research, and I found out that this is a huge SCAM. I'm only posting this so that others might be aware. If you get ANY bill for collection from a company calling itself "AFNI," be warned: they are actively scamming folks on bogus debts. DO NOT CALL THEM to dispute the charges. If you do, they have your phonee number, and the harassment might continue for months and months. Instead, go to this site: ht
  15. It always amuses me a bit when "Christians" espouse the principles of "Karma," which is basically a Buddhist belief related to the inequality people observe between themselves and others. In Buddhist belief, we are all "masters of our own universe," and what we suffer or enjoy "is the result of our own past actions and our own present doings." Within this belief, there is no "God" as most people think of HIM, because under the principles of Karma, we are all masters of our own fate. Were you a wormy person in a past life? Then you might just reincarnate as a worm in your next life. And
  16. Oh, and see? Here's a bit of balance? I think Oksana is a heartless, controlling, gold-digging biotch. I think the tapes were 95% fabricated, and she made a concerted effort to aggravate the cr@p out of him and went out of her way to make professional recordings that were remixed to make him look like an abusive monster. Not that he was any Prince Charming, but she sure as h3!! wasn't Sleeping Beauty! Fortunately for me, I could care less about the lives of people who sell themselves for the big bucks and then cry foul when people gawk. Yep, no compassion for either of them. You wa
