You lost all credibility when you suggested a used windshield. Period. You probably ought to stop before you look any more stupid than you already do.
-
And suggesting a used windshield is similarly brilliant. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but why in hell would anyone want a dirty, pitted windshield when you can get a new one for not that much more? My average w/s invoice was about $230 across all makes and models. First, the glass has to be primed with a product that makes the urethane stick to the glass. It is impossible to get all the old urethane off a windshield and prime it to make it adhere to a vehicle. So, what happens is that the urethane may or may not stick to the glass. Mostly, it won't, and you have leaks.

Most LEO pay attention to where the impact is. In front of the passenger is probably not going to get a second glance from him. If it is in the critical vision area, the 12" square area directly above the steering wheel, it's reason to stop the vehicle. And this will wander off into profiling, but the type of vehicle plays more into getting stopped than how big the chip/starburst/crack is. A beat up old pickup with a cracked window won't get as much scrutiny as will an Escalade with tinted windows. A cracked window is probable cause, you see. Might lead to bigger things.

Actually, it is not a "seal" in the technical aspect. The seal is done by the urethane between the glass and the pinch weld. When you see a molding around a windshield, it is for cosmetic purposes, to cover the gap between the glass edge and the body pinch weld. (Yeah, I know there are some gasket set w/s, but no cars that I remember in the past 25 years have one)

ummm, no. That's why the glass is LAMINATED. It stays stuck together. Tempered glass in doors, quarter panels, and back lites will shatter.
-
After a number of years in the auto glass business (now out of it) I only know of one way to fix a crack. Replace the glass. Windshields are laminated glass. Two thin layers with a plastic film inbetween, The tech drills with a teeny diamond bit down into the glass until he feels the plastic. Then he sucks a vacuum on the spot to remove the grit, and then injects a clear resin into the hole, with the intention of the resin spreading and filling all the cracks/stars/chips. Sunlight or UV light cures the resin into a clear plastic that adheres to the glass. The problem with injectio

You mean other than acting like a typical liberal? He can make laws prohibiting almost anything, but he's exempt from them because he's just "better than you are". More do as I say, not as I do nonsense. I wonder if he gets an exemption on Obama Care, will it be called a weinie waiver? (that's a pun)

Yeah, me, too. To and from school. Uphill both ways. Seriously, I walked about a mile each way to and from school, along busy streets from about the 3rd grade on. If it was raining or snowing, my Mom drove me, but if it was dry, I walked. No matter the temperature, hot or cold.

GSU Student Launched "White Students' Union

I wonder how long it will be before some Muslim student group begins their jihad rant against a Baptist Student Union on some college campus somewhere? -
Fuji Finepix s5000 available. Several years old, but just sitting on a shelf waiting for a new owner. Uses 4 AA batteies . Saw one on eBay for $80, make me an offer.

So, why are you still arguing with me, then?

Typical effing liberal reply. When you run out of plausible arguments, resort to personal attacks, make up crap, or just play the race card.

Here's a thought? Maybe, just maybe, the absentee ballot part of the election process works as designed, and doesn't need fixing. Unless of course you happen to be a US serviceman in the Middle East, and then the Holder Justice Department wants to interfere in the handling of your absentee ballot, delaying shipment of the ballots to the battlefields and blocking the results in courts. 'Cause, you know, those servicemen consistently vote GOP.

Congratulations on bringing a great idea to fruition. I have three questions: 1. Knowing what you know now, would you do it all over again? 2. What would you have done differently? 3. What are you going to do for an encore?

Question about home repair due to front door leak
glassdogs replied to Beau Weneroux's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Good advise about using Sika products. When I had the auto glass company, I used Sika urethanes to install windshields in vehicles. Nothing better out there. A tip: urethanes are very hard to pump out of a caulk gun. Sit them in the sun for a while to soften, your hands will thank you. Or use a power gun like we did. -
You are just NOW getting that memo?

Screw registration. I think everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, should have to show up at the polling place with a copy of their latest tax return. And if the tax paid exceeds a certain amount (to be determined by ME), you get additional votes. And if you don't like my idea, take it up with Neal Boortz. He brought that up years ago. It goes back to the old saying that "Them that has the gold, makes the rules."

Question about home repair due to front door leak
glassdogs replied to Beau Weneroux's topic in RECENT TOPICS
First, i sent you a PM. Secondly, I seriously doubt your homeowner's insurance is going to cover water damage due to possible (probable) construction errors. Insurance pays for "events", like hail storms or tornadoes, not for damage caused by Juan and Pedro not properly flashing a window or opening. Is the band joist around the outside of the floor (sits on top of the foundation) made from pressure treated lumber? -
Oh, it's true. They learned really good from the Pendergast Machine in KCMO who pulled an inexperienced junior legislator out of obscurity, and got him elected to the US Senate. Eventually to become POTUS Harry S Truman. Sorta like what happened 10 years ago in Chicago. They just had boxes of ballots waiting for the next election. Didn't make any difference what the election was about or whose names were on the ballots, they got counted the way the machine wanted. And those ballots just sat, patiently awaiting their next "assignment".

I don't see voter fraud as an either-or situation. There is plenty to go around, whether it is illegals voting or crooked election judges. Your story about the Carter election reminded me of a story my Dad told me about the '60 election. Missouri was the swing state. The two big cities were obviously going Dem. The outstate was strongly for Nixon. Except for one area in mid-MO called "Little Dixie". It was also known as the "Kingdom of Callaway", as that area "succeded" from MO during the Civil War and aligned itself with the Confederacy. It remained a Dixiecrat stronghold, prob

Are you for or against the death penalty?
glassdogs replied to cookies are sweet's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Does anyone else see a dichotomy in those who oppose the death penalty because someone who is innocent might be executed, yet they support aboortzion? -
Well, you know, there are some phrases, you know, that have, you know, interwoven, you know, themselves into, you know, our conversation. It seems, you know, like nobody can, you know, string four or five, you know, words together, you know, into a complete sentence. I was at a function a while back where a young woman was making a, you know, presentation. She spoke for about 3 minutes, and I lost count of the times she, you know, used that phrase. I stopped counting, you know, somewhere in the , you know, 60's.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and there is a box to enter the name you wish to block. Type "The Postman", and click on ignore personal messages and ignore posts, then click on "Save Changes", and presto, no more stupidity.....until somebody happens to quote his ignorance. But this is a start.....

Shhhhh! The statute of limitations may not have run on all that.

Having played poker with you, I can attest to the generous part of your comment. Gentle, not so much when you lose. And, don't make the mistake of asking your Doctor for a second opinion. He just might say, "OK, you are ugly, too!"
