  1. I got a few of those "fast driving awards" when I had my 95 GT. One of them was from a cop driving a ... Mustang.
  2. I guess I would describe the reporter as "Not a very good one". He probably reads too much tabloid news and thinks that's the way it should be done. Although it's hard to find any news coverage anymore that's not slanted in some way. If I remember correctly; the five "w's" of a news story are Who, what, where, when and why. Of course that applied to newspaper journalism....T.V. news takes everything in a different direction. Or as Jack Webb used to say "Just the facts, Ma'am." (It WAS Jack Webb, wasn't it? )
  3. See, this is one of the reasons I dislike people being labeled as "liberals" or conservative s" (or anything else for that matter). I don't know too many people who are so stringent in their beliefs and morals that they can be completely categorized like that. I'm a pretty laid back person; I believe in live and let live. But I firmly believe that no human being has the right to harm another without cause. I do believe in the death penalty. I am still pissed off that N.J. commuted the death sentence for this guy who raped and murdered a friend of mine. Http://murderpedia.org/
  4. So glad you found a new puppy! Marley sounds like a lot of fun. I know that finding my new pup has been a joy. And I also believe that shelter dogs make the best pets.
  5. Last night I took our new puppy for a walk around the neighborhood while my husband was mowing the lawn. It started raining really hard and when I got back the pup and I were soaked. My husband was just putting the mower away in the shed and didn't see us go back in the house so he grabbed a big umbrella from his truck and went to "rescue" us. I woke up this morning so thankful that I have someone who shows they care about me so much. Later he joked that he didn't want the dog to get wet, but I know better.
  6. I remember seeing him in concert also. Palace Theater, if memory serves me correctly. He was one of the great blues guitarists. RIP Johnny. Your music is "Still Alive and Well".
  7. Thanks TJB, that was really special. Losing a beloved pet has never been easy; they contribute so much to our lives, it's only fitting that we try in our own way to show them how much we love them.
  8. I think it's already been done by that Oliver Stone guy.
  9. Does anyone remember reading a report that Harris was on his cell phone after Cooper was removed from the car and cursed at a cop when he was asked to get off the phone? I saw a report yesterday that when his cell phone records were traced, there was no phone call at that specific time period. What? Was he "pretending" to be on his cell phone so it looked like he cared what was happening? According to the police, someone else called 911, not him. I am also baffled by some witness reports (not all) that his initial reaction seemed "genuine". There's no accounting for folks that a
  10. I'm pretty sure that this is already a basic rule that is included in the driver's manual that is required reading in order to obtain one's license. At least it was in the state where I obtained mine. Is this not a requirement here in GA? There are just so many basic rules that I see broken every day while driving that I doubt that anyone will even pay attention to a "new law" regarding hogging the left lane. If anything I think it may actually lead to more road rage because the driver who is inconvenienced by the slow poke may feel even more justified in taking out their frustration in an i
  11. I hope they find the right meds that will get the seizures under control. I know that you are a huge dog lover...like me. I just started going to New Hope with my new pup. I am thrilled with the interaction and the genuine caring of the staff and doctors. I am so happy they are there.
  12. I haven't wanted to comment until the probable cause hearing. Even though my gut feeling was that Harris did not "forget" his child; he decided to do away with him. Sickening excuse for a father. I've seen neglect before, I've experienced neglect. But this degree of selfish indifference is incomprehensible. Is Harris just a product of the "Me...Me....Me" mentality that rears it's ugly head and makes us all wonder what could make someone do something so horrific. According to some reports I've seen today, Harris BACKED his car into a parking space at work. Unless he is one of those inept driv
  13. Well, at the risk of telling you what you probably don't want to hear: I don't like putting labels of any kind on people. Whether it be political, religious, ethnic, or other. That's mainly why I stay away from any of the sub forums that get into those type topics. The labeling and subsequent name calling drives me nuts Lately it has invaded even the former light- hearted topics in the cafe. I don't take well to being labeled by other people, especially those that don't know me and I try to remember "do unto others...". I'm not quite sure what that makes me in other's eyes, but it
  14. How sad that the parents of the children who were supposedly so "horrified" at this little girl's scars that they didn't use the opportunity to teach their kids about one of the most important traits a human being can attain. Empathy. I am horrified at the thought of what kind of people these kids are going to grow up to be. And as a side note: TP, constant bashing of a group of people that you don't agree with or respect is not an admirable trait in a grown person. My opinion, of course.
  15. I've always been of the mind that it much more effective to refer to someone as a "prick", rather than a dick. It's so much more diminutive, don't you think? (I just had to add the word dick to my dictionary in order to type it. I guess that makes me more of a verbal insulter.)
  16. Hey now. Not everyone from Jersey is Mafia. But I can almost guarantee that everyone from Jersey knows somebody Mafia.
  17. That's ok. I was trying to be helpful because I noticed that there was no time or location posted. If I'd been more alert I would have also noticed that the date of the event was... YESTERDAY. I plead exhaustion.
  18. One thing I noticed - can't copy and paste into a reply. Glad to have some other things back though.
  19. Excerpt from the article on the alledged craigslist ad: The National Report has been following this story closely. We believe that the plane was possibly for SELL in the United States and..... Perhaps someone should check out at the airport. Sounds local.
  20. Okay, so this whole upgrade thing. I happened to notice this on google.com this morning. On the 25th anniversary of the web, let’s keep it free and open Posted: Tuesday, March 11, 2014 On the 25th anniversary of the World Wide Web, we’re pleased to share this guest post from Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the web. In this post he reflects on the past, present and future of the web—and encourages the rest of us to fight to keep it free and open. -Ed. Today is the web’s 25th birthday. On March 12, 1989, I distributed a proposal to improve information flows: “a ‘web’ of n
