Thanks for the info..If you pay cash for everything how do you establish credit? My kids see how I charge everything on my credit card..So I can get my gift cards..I have a rewards card..I teach them to only get a card that will reward you and to always pay it off everymonth..I stress never owe a balance..If you need money to get a loan from the credit union. Thanks everyone for your input..

That is what I was wondering...If me and DH are co-signers will that do anything to help establish a credit line for my son? If not why bother getting him the card other than constantly running to the ATM? I will pay the bill since he is still in high school..But like I said earlier if he spends it on anything other than gas it is coming out of his savings account..250 seems like the way to go..But with how high the gas prices are now a days..That will add up quick..His school is 10 miles away from the house..and then driving to the local college that is not close either.

Can you give me reasons why..I try to teach my kids responsibility...If he goes over the limit and buys anything other than gas it will be coming out of his savings account..I am already stressing to my boys that as soon as they get out of college to buy real estate and not rent..It is just throwing your money away..But that is my MINDSET. I am really proud of them too. At age 14 and 16 they already set their alarm clocks and get themselves up for school..They don't need MAMA yelling at them GET UP!!!! What limit did they get? My son will be driving soon..Yes, in MD they are almost 17 before they can drive alone. Since my son only needs 4 classes next year to graduate HS, He will be leaving early and taking a few college classes. My thought process was to get him a credit card 250-500 max limit..Just to make it easier to pump gas and to start to establish credit for him. For parents of teens what did you do at this age..He is my oldest so this is all new to me? If you did get them a card what kind of card and was it in the child's name only? TIA for the Tips advise etc

Go thru your closet..You might be surprised at what you find in there. Also I had to get my son a suit recently..If you have store credit cards better deals. We went to Macy's and just by having their credit card..I saved an extra 20%..With the sale and the credit card the suit went from being over 400 to 150. Good luck
