  1. I'm almost scared to type this, because I've seen others get roasted on this site for less, but here I go: Just remember that a lot of people have done a lot more than stand in a long line, in order to make it possible for us to vote.
  2. That is awesome. We live in Hiram, but I wish we could see your house (wherever it is) that night.
  3. I think we're about to do the same. Hubby "fired" Comcast on Wednesday. Our picture quality has been really poor lately and then they did something tues. night that made us lose most of our channels. Hubby called them 3 times the next day and they couldn't fix it - kept saying "no one else in your neighborhood is having a problem" which was a lie because I talked to my neighbors. So he cancelled it and we're probably going with at&t. Just wish I could watch the Emmys this Sunday, but we have no cable or internet!
  4. The last time I shopped at Walmart (couple of weeks ago) I went there with a list of about 25 things we buy regularly for our family, and I could not find 6 or 7 of them at all. Their selection has really been slashed.
  5. From the time that my daughter was 2-4/5, she talked alot about her "other mommy, Flowery Garden." It was hard to tell at times if it was an overactive imagination, or something else..she told us how Flowery Garden died (in a flood) and other details. Kinda weird. My son also talked like this, but he talked in detail about his grandfather who lived in South Dakota (we know no one in/from South Dakota) and the name he called him by was my husband's grandfather's name (he died when my husband was a child).
  6. Last spring when I went back to work full time I toured both. After touring Reflections I asked the director "What would you say is the difference between your center and PKU?" She said "Not much really. I probably shouldn't say this, but one of our teachers actually sends her child to PKU!" and she laughed. That sealed it for me. My kids went to PKU since then, and they were wonderful.
  7. Do you make an old fashioned caramel cake? I'm looking to get one for a co-worker, after reading the (wonderful) book "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. Thanks.
  8. I think we have every toy that my 5 yo son and 7 yo daughter have ever received, and this Saturday we're going to go through them and clean out. Where would be the best place to donate them? Isn't there a women's shelter somewhere? Thanks, Minivanmomma
  9. We used Paulding Kids University for the past 18 months (ever since I went back to work) and we have have a GREAT experience there.
  10. Does anyone know why it burned? What happened? I always wondered when I drove by.
  11. Ha ha. No, just hoping he doesn't live on my street!
  12. I've used Dr. Suzanne Fox at Creekside Pediatrics (D'ville) ever since my first child was born in 2002. I really like her, and all of the doctors in the practice.
  13. My daughter is one of "Miss Freda's" many adoring former students. So sorry for the family.
  14. Do you accept broken lawnmower donations? We need a new one, but I told my husband he can't buy it until he finds a place to take the broken ones! And if so, where are you located?
  15. State Farm denied us too (near Mein Mitchell & Rodge Road), and we've been loyal customers for decades (house and vehicle policies). So frustrating, because it was blatant damage.
  16. In my young and single days, I used to live in an apartment at the corner of Sidney Marcus and Lenox Road. One Saturday night I had a babysitting job near Piedmont Hospital and so I drove up Lenox and turned left on Peachtree. Then I sat in traffic for two hours while the Frakniks around me took pictures of each other in various stages of undress and drunkeness. It was such gridlock that I couldn't turn around, move or anything. What a nightmare! Glad I'm out here and not down there anymore.
  17. I'm registering my son too, and now I'm crying! Where does the time go?
  18. I have an 8 yo and a 5 yo. and we've battled sleep issues with both of them through the years. Most recently the 5 yo kept getting out of bed every night to come in our room and sleep on the floor by me. I had to make myself get up and take him back in his bed (and soemtimes lay with him for a few minutes). If I had continued to let him sleep on my floor, it would have gone on forever. Important thing was to get him back in his bed. Sometimes the next morning he'd say "I stayed in my bed all night!" (not remembering he got up). I know it's tough. Hang in there.
  19. Our teacher said there was some water in a few classrooms, offices and the library at PB Ritch. I'm sure they're trying to clean up as much as possible before reopening the school. Hence, the closures for Friday.
