  1. Please give examples of such choices that the government makes for me. Government provides a framework and within that framework I can make any choice that is legal. So, no, I have no idea of what you're talking about regarding "free choice". If you're talking about not liking the government setting up the framework -- if the framework is not Constitutional, then it won't stand up to a Supreme Court Challenge. If a law that provides such framework doesn't fit into an individual's concept of freedom, then that person has been deluded, or at least mistaken as to what "freedom" means. I susp
  2. What is "FREE CHOICE"??? I don't recall that being a Constitutional principle, but maybe you can clarify what "free choice is" and how it applies to our relationship to government. Examples would be nice. And maybe a quote from the Constitution.... * See "boogie man" argument that is the mainstay of the GOP meme-infected.
  3. And you, in a show of your disdain, added to the number count. Makes perfect sense.
  4. mei lan - The quote was made by a one-percenter ENTERTAINER. When he says "We will have to _______ (fill in the blank) -- Who is "WE"? Donald Trump doesn't have any worries about paying for healthcare. He is interested in one thing - Donald Trump and increasing the Trump brand. If more people are receiving health care services, then the DEMAND (you know, the thing that ACTUALLY creates jobs) will help catapult an industry in a country that needs to see an economic boost. A serious discussion that brings in a quote from "The Donald"? Really?? You regard THAT specious comment as "fantas
  5. I suspect that people who remain oblivious to logic and sound reasoning and facts do so in a programmed fashion so that their narrative that must include an element of paranoia remains intact. That narrative is a house of cards which fears even a whisper-wind of contradiction. That is why you see blow-hards huffing and puffing against the jet stream of sound economic, social and human rights policies. There has to be a boogie man. It's "socialism/communism/Marxism" (as if they can be used interchangably), the gay boogie man that will ruin his personal marriage, the equal-pay for equal work
  6. If you're not a "GOP Faithful" then stop repeating their specious arguments! You're not being taxed to death. People nowadays are able to afford much more than their parents could. How is this possible if government has grown exponentially and taxes have gone up, as well??? You do pay more, in dollar amounts, than your parents, but you make more, too! Your house payment is more than your parents, but you're able to afford it because you make more money than your parents did. Quit whining - you have it better than previous generations and better than 99.9 percent of people who have ever lived
  7. I understand, ZC. But people need to see their reflection in the mirror sometimes to make sure that they are presenting what they want others to see. What the GOP faithful are presenting is an unpatriotic model that says, --- BE AFRAID!!! They indicate that continuing to do NOTHING is better than providing solutions, because the solutions could have these straw man/boogie man "unintended consequences". Well, that's no way to live your life! If we did this in our personal lives we would NEVER get anything done!!! And this isn't "just for men", but it strikes at the core of what it means t
  8. I think that an important distinction needs to be made for those who slept through civics class. While it is CALLED a majority opinion, the fact is that it is a DETERMINATION regarding Constitutionality. This Affordable Care Act is LAW and the Constitutionality is DECIDED. Period. Now comes implementation of the new paradigm. Talk about WHETHER there's a new paradigm is a complete waste. Comments by politicians about threatening to undermine the law are coming from those whose last stand is pandering to a meme-infected, fingers-in-ears, constituency, which is rapidly dwindling and headed
  9. Because the "Chicken Littles" have to show that they are whimpering wimps, and haven't the courage to face the future with resolve for a better tomorrow - That's why they can't wait! They are trembling in their littlle-boy pants.
  10. I suggest a pre-emptive move on your part! Start packing. Then, if your business falls on hard times, maybe you can get a job in that foreign land working for peanuts. Good luck convincing your wife and kids (presumably) that THEY will be better off moving to another continent - Or maybe you like the COLD! Pack some warm clothes, if that's the case. I'm betting that they're going to wish you a good life in this hare-brained pursuit of the perfect business environment (which doesn't exist in reality). When you get homesick, you'll want to stay there, though, because a return here would repr
  11. Why would you close your shop, which is presumably your livlihood, as a tax-dodging tactic? Your customers conclude that they cannot depend on you to be open for them, a situation that screams for competition. It's a specious argument that you make -- that HAVING NOTHING is better than patriotically supporting the system that is put into place legally by our lawmakers and upheld by our Constitution through the judicial branch of government. In terms of net dollars, of COURSE you're better off to pay the extra percentage points in tax, rather than to close up shop. The reality is that the
  12. I may make a pitcher of Margaritas and have hot dogs/hamburgers! Embrace the SEASONS of the year as you do the SEASONS of your life, Lucky64! I find myself wishing for a little cold when it's hot and a little hot when it's cold -- Neverminding the reality that all that I can do is to make the best of the situation at hand.
  13. Part of the model for the New Century, not just the new generation, needs to be "America, Forever!" If our government is to last for the ages, if our way of life is to thrive and persist, then there needs to be a dramatic change of focus, LPPT. This new mindset would preclude "meism". It would include a future vision of a land in which "drill, baby, drill", an energy strategy of immediacy and a goal of ultimate depletion which would never be considered. There would be a collective consciousness that allows personal expression and belief, but holds INCLUSION to be a virtue. Underpinning
  14. I think that folks have only a couple of things that they have to do to be good patriotic citizens. They need to obey the laws and pay their taxes. That's about all that is required of anyone. No longer does anyone HAVE to go into the military and put his life on the line for our country. So WHY is there all of the whimpering and whining and quaking in their booties about doing this patriotic duty? Why can't people just man-up and face the future unafraid? Where did the nervous-nellie trepidation model come from? I refuse to be afraid of anything, which is why I am taken aback by this supersn
  15. I wonder what would happen if a Congresswoman had her name legally changed - Maybe to something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i90eE9Ff3fI Wouldn't some of the offended gentlemen have to just get over themselves and call her by name?
  16. Shouldn't this be in the Tonk? Really such vulgar language! To discuss hoo-hoos and tallywhackers (can we please call it a "tallywhacker"?*) in such a pubic way? It's disgraceful! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFpsRr0WjDE
  17. I agree, Cardie! It's interesting that the people who require OTHERS to exercise self-control don't have that personal trait themselves. They don't realize that the more often they respond, the closer the codependent bond is between themselves and the person whom they are criticizing. The test of codependency is -- "How strongly do you (not you, Cardie, because obviously you're not in this category) feel compelled to respond to this person's post, which you think should not be posted at all? " If the answer is "So strongly that I cannot resist the urge to reply" or "I must reply and I ca
  18. It struck me as funny to consider that there were alternatives out there, other than "personal" vibrators!
  19. Just FYI - It was a 52 year old lady, whose name has been released - Sarah Yvonne Lindley
  20. Maybe some of these positions will be compatible with the expertise of someone from here! http://www.novelis.com/en-us/Pages/Careers-R-D-Jobs.aspx
  21. That's true - I just wish that more of the "longest pier" were over the water! Check this site out - You can input your own comparables/price range, and screen for lots of stuff! Here's Milton. When we move down there, we'll still need to be fairly close to the Pensacola airport. http://www.trulia.com/for_sale/Milton,FL/x_map/ And see -- They're building new homes for reasonable prices in Gulf Breeze: http://www.trulia.com/property/1052032780-1626-Oakhill-Rd-Gulf-Breeze-FL-32563 We've gotta scale down when we move. Ranch style only (no more stairs!).
  22. TG - Coincidentally, I've been looking down there, too. We're going to retire in the next couple of years and I've been doing searches. Here's a tip - When you search the Pensacola area online, include a "violent crime" search, so that you'll know which areas of town to avoid. "Gulf Breeze" isn't too far from the NAS, I think, and they have some great bargains there! If online searches don't do you any good, I know a past Commander of the NAS at Pensacola (he lives in Marietta) and I can get information in that way for you. Send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.
  23. Here's some short answers back - I agree about Immigration reform - I suggest that the HIRING MANAGER's Name for each business should be posted on the business license. It would be a crime to hire an undocumented worker and there would HAVE to be a paper trail (meaning - no one gets paid in cash). Failure to comply means jail time for the hiring manager and deportation for the illegal and loss of the business license for the business. We need to do away with companies being able to just pay fines so that they can still willingly break the law. Job Reform - the thing about college i
  24. Let's keep this topic a list of constructive criticisms as opposed to lapsing into partisan meme-speak. There are many parts of our society that are, to varying degrees, in need of reform before the situation becomes worse/intolerable. Reforms are about repair, not about assigning blame. How do we fix these things? I'll start with some: Tax reforms - the tax laws are one-side slanted, impossibly complex and difficult to enforce. Prison Reform - Our prisons reenforce gangs to the point that new prisoners in some prisons have to declare a gang when they enter! Welfare Reform - T
