  1. You're right, Subby! What people have to realize is that laws cost LOTS of money! You have to enforce them, which requires extra personnel - and is this really how we want to fill up the court dockets? With sagging pants cases? I don't thinks so, either! I think that it's just a matter of time, though, before someone tries to pass anti-lowpantslegislation, the rationale for which will be that it is a "gateway behavior" for criminal activity.
  2. This is the "MULLET" of political issues. It never was accepted by anyone but those on the fringe - and the most backward people in the country are the last to abandon it!
  3. When the parents start to ask that question - It's getting to be that time.
  4. Report of his death premature - Can we change "premature" to "prescient"? I suppose it could be argued that death is serious....
  5. [quote name='Póg mo thóin' timestamp='1327252919' post='3587833' I don't give a damn about my reputation. /guitar riff Hence the name, right?
  6. I think that only the most naive really believe that. Who takes to heart anything a politician says? Newt has no ethical boundaries, so he's not likely to have a problem with lying about his religion. Don't get me wrong - I think that all politicians are crooks. It' just that when a politician says "god" - it's for political advantage and no more.
  7. So do you all think that the next chapter of the story is that his family will file suit against the state for not having him on suicide watch, given his mental instability? The young man's demise amounts to a best-case scenario for the state, which is why I have this concern. It never happens like this!
  8. I loved this story when I was a child. I guess that my parents must have read it to me at bedtime. I still remember the pictures in the book. I don't know what made me think of it tonight, but I looked it up on YouTube and there it was! What's your favorite Childhood Story? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPc8DUUKdR4
  9. But Newt was Publicly chastising Clinton for the very same thing Newt was doing in private, we were to find out later. There are more stories on Newt, but to spread those would be idle gossip, don'tcha know?
  10. Newt isn't catholic. His religion is newt.
  11. I was thinking "Pillsbury Dough Boy".
  12. It's not just the President who's a puppet - It's all of Washington. Congress sells their votes to foreign interests at the peril and to the detriment of their constituency. But PARTY POLITICS means that they can do this! It doesn't matter how bad things get, a lot of Congressmen run unopposed because it's a foregone conclusion regarding how the folks back home will vote. Bottom line - We're doomed. Greed is the achilles' heel of Capitalism. And the breakdown has begun.
  13. That may be so. If it is, then he probably just left them because the new one was younger and prettier. I'm not defending him either, just acknowledging Newt's womanizing ways.
  14. I know -- I could have said -- "What she said!"
  15. Mitt is the only one who would turn his whole body sideways while the other person was talking. When you get a chance -- look for that. His whole body is facing Santorum and he's staring Santorum down. He did it with Newt, too. (I'm watching replay right now).
  16. I think that she was participating in the Free Enterprise system. I imagine that she was paid a pretty penny for bringing this story to the headlines so close to the SC primary. This is old news - So Newt asked for an "open marriage" - so what? His personal indiscretions are well documented already. It should be noted that he cheated WITH his second wife on his first wife! She really can't take any kind of a moral high road either! Newt's character is no longer in question. He's been certified and stamped as a sleazeball. So let's move on to the important issues, because this doesn't justi
  17. They say, small government, but getting in the morality business is BIG GOVERNMENT. For every new legislation, there's a corresponding need for enforcement and prosecution. It's my idea that we don't need more restrictive social/moral laws, we don't need more lawyers, and we don't need the courts and the jails crowded with MORALITY cases!! There's no way that we can afford what the Republicans are talking about, which is HUGE GOVERNMENT!
  18. Santorum looks at the floor because Romney is glaring at him, trying to intimidate him and throw him off-message. The republicans can't drop the women's rights issue because that's what defines them! Each one of them has pledged to overturn Roe and to repeal gay rights -- with the exception of Ron Paul. I should have phrased that differently. All of them have pledged except for Ron Paul..... I thought that Santorum brought it tonight. Of course I don't care for his message, but he did a really good job of articulating it.
  19. You don't have to call me -- Charlie Manson And you don't have to call me Charles Ng You don't have to call me Ted Bundy -- anymore Even though I made myself swing.........
  20. "I'll hang around as long as you will let me"
  21. They call it, "suicide watch", not "suicide intervention". I don't think I'd want that job, though.... Here's how I know that I'm okay with this outcome - I thought that was hilarious!!
  22. I'm fine with the outcome, given the realities. I know that the Cherokee Sheriff's Dept. may be in trouble here, but the taxpayer was saved a bunch of money and the guy was pretty much going to rot in jail. It was going to be a wasted life because of the choices he made. Nothing was going to bring the little girl back and in that context - It turned out as well as possible. I'm not cheering and not heckling. I'm just fine with it.
