Thank you drosser. There seems to be a belief that all "the little people" are victims. I have lost count of the number of people who come to my office (CPA) and "confess" that they are collecting disability or WC while getting paid to landscape, paint houses, pour cement, etc,. etc. THAT IS WHY INSURANCE, W/C, ETC IS SO EXPENSIVE! Blame the owner for being greedy if you want......there is greed on every side. I hope our lawmakers come to their senses and change W/C and SS disability like they changed the laws for welfare years ago. Give people a two year period to be trained for a desk

Yup. What Callahan said.

Yes! You may brag. You have much to be proud of. The time invested in these young people will pay huge dividends in our future.

I had to turn around and take a detour to get to Hiram. Twenty or thirty bikers whizzed by me trying to get to the wreck. Looked like a hundred people standing in the road. One biker almost got in a wreck himself. He was flying up Buchanan and came over a hill right before my street. I was pulling out to make a right turn, but saw him just as he came flying up over the hill. I do hope everyone turns out okay.

High School Football Scores for Friday 8/26
bluebonnet replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Thank you D! I will pass this on to the new concessions director at South. I was down there helping her out and giving her some "secrets" from past experience prior to the game starting last night, and I can tell you she is first class. (Last year's director was also amazing--a woman who has many years experience with high school football concessions). Our new director, Theresa, will only build upon what Maryalice did. The SP Touchdown Club has the philosophy that visiting fans are our guests and we want your experience to be as pleasant as possible.................while still losing. -
It looked like there were police vehicles with lights flashing from the Hwy 92 intersection to a couple hundred yards up Hiram-Sudie. I was headed east on Hiram-Sudie, turning left on Bill Carruth and could see possible six vehicles with lights flashing....enough to be glad I didn't need to go to the Hiram post office today.

Tell me why Health Insurance must be purchased at your place of work ?
bluebonnet replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Another consideration Surepip is your age. I guarantee you, the 20-30 year old age group does NOT want to be pooled with you! Why should they have to pay higher insurance premiums to cover all your medical conditions that come with aging? (Not trying to get personal......any younger person will think that about older individuals.) Personally, if that is all your meds are costing you, I would look for a catastrophic coverage type deal. For your ages and what you are paying, it actually sounds like you've got a pretty good deal. -
Ummmm......by the feds taking less to begin with! The federal govt takes from US and then makes our school systems jump through their hoops to get it back. As usual, the larger the organization, the more temptation to separate authority from responsibility. Give the control/authority back to local communities and then hold them accountable. Just thinkin hard......if you would run for office, I would vote for you.

Maybe a bike ride on the Silver Comet Trail. I've got a couple bikes you could borrow. By evening it would be cooler. Please don't tell me they are too old to ride a bike! Maybe then a stroll with C Mark as the tour guide.

Thank you for the reminder FreeBird. Such a sad year.....Katrina, Josh, Tara Drummond and the lady who was carjacked and killed in Cobb County.....all between Aug 15th & Sept 13th 2005. Our thoughts are with Josh and his family today.

The Olive Tree restaurant in Hiram is soooo good!

LOVE Olive Tree! I think I will ask the husband out for tomorrow. We haven't been in awhile. -
Thanks for clarifying darlin'. And yes, Pubby, SS is capped; Medicare is not. I started a longer, tedious paragraph going into all this, but decided it was not pertinant to the topic. My point about SS/Medicare was the insidious escalation of a tax once it is created.

This actually has nothing to do with buying another home. A better explanation: You buy your home for $100,000. Later you sell same home for $800,000. Total capital gain = $700,000. If this home is owned by a married couple, the first $500,000 is exempt from tax (at this time). The additional $200,000 of capital gain would be subject to the Medicare tax per this health bill. Like most new taxes, this one starts off only affecting a small percentage of people. Once the tax is established however, it will be easy for the govt to adjust the values. They could keep the exemption on t

I agree with LPPT on this. I had chest pains about ten years ago....and then recently. Both times my chiropractor adjusted me and the pain immediately went away! He showed me some nerves that run from the spine up to the sternum and explained what was going on. It is definitely the quickest, least expensive and least invasive option. The first time, I had gone to the ER and had all the tests run (I was 40). This past time, I just went to my chiro and told him to fix it again. Oh by the way, my chiropractor is Mr LPPT
