  1. I've had better luck on the "hot" items with the walmarts that are out in the boonies. One year, hubby and I were in SC for thanksgiving. Went to a Walmart in Seneca.....store opened at 5 and there were only 10 people there at 4:30. Walmart in Anderson, on the other hand, was an absolute zoo!
  2. From a techno geek....if you plan on using it strictly for reading, then definitely go with kindle. For movies, net surfing, email, etc, then spend the extra money, skip the kindle fire and go with an iPad. Saw a demo of kindle fire on the Internet....too many quirks and not user intuitive. iPad is soooo much better for surfing, movie viewing, etc. but I never use it for reading.....plain old kindle is MUCH better for that task and they are so much cheaper now too. Especially now that theyve added the feature to allow checkouts from library (hint, hint...now that Cobb county is
  3. A summertime childhood ritual for my brothers and I was spending 2-3 weeks at my grandparents house. They lived out in the country, just outside of Athens. If it happened to come one of those summer afternoon rainstorms and my cousins and I couldn't play outside, my grandmother would hand each of us a pan loaded with butter beans and a grocery bag and put us to work helping her shell them while she watched her "stories". (The Edge of Night, Secret Storm, and her favorite of all- General Hospital.....this was back in the 60's. Way before that Luke and Laura nonsense!) I miss her.....
  4. Call me twisted, but hot apple cider vinegar is one of my favorite smells from childhood. I loved being in the kitchen, sitting in front of the fan watching my mom putting up cucumber pickles.
  5. How to cook a frozen turkey I just happened to stumble across this....
  6. Now THAT is funny!!!!!! (as I clean my diet coke from my screen)
  7. Breaking news...but no details as of yet.
  8. I say go old school....pin the tail on the donkey....musical chairs......drop clothespins in a milk bottle and whoever gets the most in wins. Play the ooey gooey game. Put party favor bags on a lazy Susan with one ooey gooey bag (put dish soap, whip cream, ketchup, raw egg.....anything you can think of to make it an ooey gooey bag. Put a blind fold on each kid one by one....turn the lazy Susan around, tell the kid to say when to stop...then they have to stick their hand in the bag in front of them. If they get a bag with a prize...then YAY!!!!! If not....OOEY GOOEY!!!!! Yeah I
  9. I found one sticking out of the ATM a couple months ago and took it straight to the bank. Figured they had all the contact info and could verify that it was being given back to the right person.
  10. Good! Maybe Tyler Perry will write a scene where Madea comes along and slaps her up side the head.
  11. She categorically is denying it. I dunno. Her story sure smells to me.
  12. If you put a knife under your pillow, it'll cut the pain in half! Oh wait.....that was Prissy's remedy for Miss Melanie's labor pains. Sorry!
  13. I dabble in it....it's become my wintertime hobby. It's kind of nice to put on a pot of soup on the weekends and curl up next to the fireplace with my netbook and see what I can find on Ancestry. My mom's side is supposed to be having a reunion this fall at the church that most of her family belonged to years ago. While there, I plan on taking lots of pictures of the headstones of whatever family members I can find in the church cemetery.
  14. I went to my 30th a couple years ago. People do change (looks as well as attitudes), cliques break up, and just about everyone has gained weight. Go.
  15. I don't know know him but if I was gonna sell my house, I'd let him list it. Straight, gay, homoflexicle, heterometrical, bilocyclical...who cares? But you say he can't decorate????....just damn!
  16. Y'all are ALL wrong! Travis Tritt bought the Paulding County Airport. He's gonna rename it Tritt Field and it will be the home base of Tritt Airways. At least that's the rumor I heard......
  17. For some reason, my iPad isn't pulling up the schedule but have you checked this? Cedar town civic center
  18. I've always wondered about cookie monster and Oscar the grouch, though......
  19. Yes I have a blog, but it has been a while since I posted anything. (busy, medical issues, etc. HOWEVER, stay tuned because due to popular demand from coworkers and general nagging from some friends I'm going to start it back up. As for my final meal, maybe a burger, fries, and lemon ice cream....and peanut butter cookies.
  20. One thing that irritates me is this $250K figure that keeps getting tossed about with regards to "the rich can afford to chip in a little more" with regards to taxes. If you happen to live in some place like LA, NYC, etc., $250K sure doesn't go very far and you'd be hard pressed to find residents of those cities that made that kind of money defining themselves as monetarily "rich".
  21. So....you're on death row. Your date finally arrives, you get your special "last meal" and say your final goodbyes and make your last statement. Then your lawyer comes rushing in saying you've got a 24-hour reprieve while some judge reviews some aspect of the situation. 24 hrs comes and goes and the judge says never mind, go ahead. Inquiring minds want to know if you get to have another special "last meal" or just have to eat regular jail food?
  22. The Flintstones Fat Albert Land of the Lost (Yeah, not a cartoon, but Wesley Eure was cute!!!) Yes, I'm old.......sigh.
