  1. Go back and read the press release from Anivitarte that initiated this thread. He want Paulding to adopt the ICE program so we can spend $300,000+ per year to possibly detain illegals and take them to the Feds in Atlanta IF they will accept them. And I am not real wild about the idea of the BOC telling the Sheriff how to run his department. The citizens elected Gary Gulledge to run the Sheriff's Department. Let him run it. So do you want Paulding spending the money to participate in ICE, only to have the Feds tell us they don't want this one or that one ? Are we going to ca
  2. Generally when I am in the UK, it is working, and I am not one for the Club Scene so I can't help you there. I spend time near Manchester, but only know the airport. Similar to here, most of my customers are very rural and out in the sticks.
  3. Supply and Demand, and if you have noticed plain old fashion make you cry onions are the same or more than vidalias. Normally when we plant our onions in the garden, we do them deep for scallions. This year we did 100 shallow to make bulbs. At $1.25 a pound I figure we got $30 worth of onions for $1 of sets. I intend to plant again in late August and again in October for spring bulb onions. Romaine at $3 a head, most fruits at $2 to $5 a pound, and boneless skinless chicken breasts are less than $2 a pound. Go figure.
  4. Well thank you ! As I get up from the floor brushing myself off, thank you! Hey, NG, I will take a Rita from JJ's instead. I don't drink as much wine in the summer. I prefer reds and its too damn hot! But a Rita I would take you up on.
  5. The dude insisted on labeling me as a socialist. So tit for tat! And the shoe fits on RR for sure.
  6. Say what you want. And believe it as well I guess. Sure was fun voting a Republican primary ballot, especially the last question. Those who know me and do business with me see me as someone on the conservative side of a moderate, who wants no government intervention in my private life. I have always paid my corporate taxes with a smile, because that meant my business made a profit. As an employer with 25 full time positions, we paid good wages, paid holidays, paid vacations, and we paid their health insurance 100% after they had been with us for 2 years. 50% after 1 year. And we had 12
  7. Pray for no storms. If a depression forms which "might" head towards the wellhead, they will disconnect and move the boats, rigs, and all other equipment.
  8. You can store vidalias in the refrigerator, whole. You have to put them into something that will allow air to circulate around them without allowing them to touch each other. Depending on how, long, 75% to 80% will keep. I use plastic turkey egg incubator plats which will hold a medium size onion and they stack on top of each other without letting the onions touch. It is nice to be able to get a vidalia our of the garage fridge in December.
  9. Don't go to Arizona any time soon. You could be jailed until your family could provide proof that you are a citizen unless you had your passport or birth certificate on you. The uproar over illegals has reached the point the various agencies [Registrar] are being forced to err on the side of assuming you are illegal if everything does not match. Could just be a data entry error where the SS# does not match the rest of the info.
  10. What are you trying to stir up Tom ? Come on, Mr Richardson represented the ROBBER BARON MEGA DEVELOPERS, and their ilk. He got the laws changed and modified to suit THEIR needs and did nothing for the average tax paying citizen. The only Small Businesses he assisted were associated with the home building industry and their suppliers and subs. He paved the way for the mega builders to come in to Paulding, and he thoroughly represented the interests of Big Pharma and the Healthcare Industry. Tell me what legislation he helped pass to help you ? The mandatory Bible Study Bill ? Early sel
  11. Hey Animal, BS just called you a LIBERAL!!! Join the crowd over here where we are exiled to "Against Us Land". You know, "If you are not with us then you are AGAINST US". Let me know how it feels to be referred to as a LIBERAL just because you might have overstepped "Their line" with your toe. The local GOP folks are becoming very canabilistic it appears.
  12. The County is not allowed to spend anything to promote SPLOST and the elected officials can not do anything more than explain what it is to be used for etc. They cannot "campaign" for it. I believe the committee funding this is from donations, and it is via the Chamber. The Chamber of Commerce is not a County operation. You are well within your right to start a PAC to campaign against the SPLOST but there is no government funding . You will have to solicit donations. As to the wasteful spending comments by the county: Check out the rules and regs. GDOT controls EVERYTHING to do wit
  13. WR, we need to meet. Or do I know you ? You forget......."If you are not with me then you are against me!", and there is no middle ground. I worked my way through college. Took a junior engineering job with Krupp's Atlanta office after graduation. 3 years later I moved over to another German engineering manufacturing company which built large commercial chicken incubators. 7 years later I left them, and after changing my mind about accepting a job in Clarksville, Ga., I opened my own business instead. 18 months later I book on a partner and bought out the german incubator company w
  14. It has to do with the mounting lugs on the bottom of the breaker. Home Depot should be able to cross reference for sure, or you can go on and pull the breaker, put a wire nut on the black wire, and take it with you. I would keep spare breakers at hand for a 40 year old box. Mine is 3o+ and i have replaced about half of them the past 4 to 5 years.
  15. No envy, no spread the wealth. This is the same situation the county had with the original Robber Barons. Oil, Coal, Railroads, Utilities. They charged what they wanted because they were the only game in town. Uncle got involved, and busted up the cartels. The Utilities and most interstate commerce has been governed by Public Service Commissions since that time. The fact that so much stock is now held by mutual fund groups etc, now the stock holders per se, don't or can't exercise their voting rights. Hence, you end up with situations like Delta several years ago, where the top managem
  16. You won't need to salt it as much. And the baking powder is a waste [both are in self rising], but other than that it will work. Find some old Justin Wilson "Cooking Cajun" clips on PBS and watch him. Many times the cajuns will make their roux after browning their celery, onion, and peppers. I think Emeril has several shows, and Alton Brown, showing how to make a proper roux. Once you get this one down pat, you can make so many other types of sauces. I forgot to add, when you are getting ready to turn the finished product down to check the consistency, it will have a glossy sheen acro
  17. Oh so true, and that is unfortunate because Irwin accomplished SO MUCH in his younger years. We would be much better off had he stepped aside when Sonny won 8 years ago. It just seems Irwin and the Ag Department were hung out to dry by the Republicans when they took over 6 years ago. The department has many tasks and duties, but their funding has been static, and or going down for 6 years. They cannot inspect the peanut plants, poultry plants, grocery stores, other markets, meat processors and retailers, and do homeland security, weights and measures [Ag is who inspects the accuracy at gas sta
  18. Take an afternoon or evening and learn to make a roux. You can get many recipes on line, Joy of Cooking, various other cookbooks [i prefer those from Julia Child and Jacque Pepin. Once you master a basic roux, you can make many other types of gravies and sauces. Basically it is equal parts fat and flour. Stay away from self rising, use all purpose or bread flour. You will find you can make a better roux with rendered animal fat. Forget margarine or crisco fats. Use unsalted butter if you can't get animal fat. But let the butter brown over medium-high heat before adding the flour as the
  19. If you want to eat them you need to catch them and grain-feed them for 2-3 weeks before dispatching them. Otherwise I doubt you will be happy with the taste of the meat. You may be able to get them to come up and eat 3 way scratch from your yard, but as you said, that a lot of poop to contend with. If you can trap a couple and put them in a pen it would be better. You also need to find some one to pick the feathers when you are ready. Evicerating them is not too bad, but plucking them is not worth the effort. I much prefer the Whetstone Geese in the freezer section of the grocery store. An
  20. We don't necessarily make pot pie filling from scratch as much as we do from left-overs. We use chicken and turkey, but prefer to add duck or goose pieces to them, and then use the left over gravy for juice and as a thickener. The duck and goose add so much more flavor. When using up the left over duck or goose I bone out the meat and use all the pickings from the back, legs, etc., cutting them up pretty small. The bones go in a bag in the freezer and when it fills up we make stock. Chopped onion, julienned blanched carrots, little green peas, left over gravy and more stock [i have a c
  21. I would not mind the partisan politics as much if we had 4 or 5 or 6 parties to choose from who can represent a broad spectrum. But what we have is 2 parties which have in the minds of many polarized to far right and far left, neither of which suit me. I grew up with the Dixiecrats, which for all practical purposes were a separate party. Then as the more liberal democrats moved in on the Dixiecrats I migrated to the Republicans, until they became so RABID under Newt. Political grandstanding became the norm, and it seems the [R]s accepted and condoned their leadership being absolu
  22. DAYAM Animal, you have mellowed thses past couple of years. I must tip my hat to you for a rational and realistic statement. The [D] and the [R] bull cheeze has become too absurd. And I can see many candidates changing sides, or going independent in the next decade as a result of My way or the WRONG way attitude so prevalent with the Repulicans, especially the local ones. It is almost an "How dare you defy what WE want to take place. You can' run as a Republican unless you sign our Oath of Allegiance, and when we say jump, you ask how high as you come off the ground".
  23. Yes, but think of what a mess it would be if we could vote in multiple primaries !!!
  24. There has been no discussions on the other statewide offices to speak of. Are the [R] voters going to vote in the Republican primary or switch over to the [D] ballot to vote against Roy and company ? Ag is getting a new commissioner after 40something years of Tommy Irwin [D]. I am a big supporter of Gary Black [R]. Gary has been more active in Georgia Agriculture with the Ag Center than Irwin has for the past 10-15 years, and will make a great commissioner. This one has already gotten MrsSurepip in trouble at the Ag Department as the Powers that Be, found out I was an aquaint
  25. But bear in mind, unlike the GOP, to run on a Democratic ticket the candidate does NOT have to sign an oath to the party so your statement becomes irrelevant. Nowhere do I see Will Avery promoting the national agenda you refer to with the party headed by Pelosi and Reid. Like myself though, he could not run as a member of the Paulding GOP and sign that required Oath to support that group. Possibly some on the state and national level, but not on the local level.
