  1. They will be. They are working on getting them scanned and sent to Pubby.
  2. Besides being a fantastic city to just "Walk", it is full of historical gems. The Rijksmuseum [Rikes] is full of works by the great masters, including Rembrant's Nightwatch painting. Madame Trusseau's Wax Museum The Navy museum in an old vessel in the harbor. A canal crusie which also goes around the old part of the harbor is a great way to see many of the sites including the Anne Frank House. And the INFAMOUS Redlight district. Prostitution and Porn is wide open legal in the Netherlands, and Amsterdam has a section of the city which is probably close to a square mile of bars, clubs, s
  3. What are you talking about ? There is no verification process. And generally even after filed on the last possible day, many candidates come back and do an amended report. How hard is it to list all donations, cash or "In Kind" of more than $101 and total them up ?
  4. Or the possibility I have already seen Pownall's and Barnett's ? I know they both filed theirs yesterday.
  5. Any candidates ready to post their disclosure forms ?
  6. That is exactly what I was hoping for. If not, I was going to see about obtaining them and giving them to Pubby to post. My scanner files are too big to post and I have not figured out how to shrink them. I am very curious to see Anivitarte's, Cochran's, Crowe, and Collet. I saw Barnett's and Pownall's previous reports and was pleased with what I did not see. I think they will volunteer theirs. If not, I will see about getting them as well. Stout's, Braddock, and Golden's will be interesting as well.
  7. I don't understand the complaint about a low assessment. Your taxes will be lower than the others as well. What the house is really worth is based on what the realtor can sell it for. The Assessed Value, Aprraised Value, and true Market Value can all be radically different numbers. The only one that matters is the market value and that is determined by what someone is willing to spend on it. Last appraisal we had, the appraissor told us not to sell it for less than $50,000 more than what he was appraising it for, and that was based on the fact he could not fine a single "comp" house w
  8. Not nearly as much as I would like to. The candidates can actually hold onto the money and not deposit it until after the deadlines and not have to show who gave what until AFTER the election. I am curious to see who has collected what funding from whom.....
  9. OK, a campaign disclosure form is required from all candidates for money collected and banked through today. Of course like all other "Ethics" related regulations in Georgia, the candidate can wait until the 9th or 10th as well. I would like to issue a challenge to ALL of our candidates to file their reports today, or tomorrow morning, and send word to p.com that they have done so. And we will see if Pubby, et al, can post them here as well. Candidates: Are you willing to step forward and file your disclosures as soon as they are due ?
  10. Great community involvement. Got to love it.
  11. I made a stock out of the leftover bones from the Quail I did on the rotisserie Friday night, reduced it to a syrup, and poured it over the rest of the quail and wild rice. Big garden salad with strorebought romaine, and dressing. Baggette pieces to sop up the juice, and some chilled cote du rhone. Nice!
  12. No, Bill and Jerry are not running this year......but some of their minions are. The puppets have become the puppeteers
  13. Semantics and terminology. Shearin told you ever year of his administration "I cut your taxes", which using the millage rollback was in essence a true statement. However, your tax bill still went up $100 or more. Because your assessed value went up substantially more than the millage rate rollback. Now Austin has cut the hell out of the budget, and although the BOC is not "Reducing" the millage rate, you are none the less going to get a massive reduction in your actual tax bill. The average will be a 17.5% drop in what you will actually pay. What the Sound Guy is saying I believe,
  14. When comparing what one is going to cost you over the others, you also need to factor in the reduction in property taxes you are going to see on your bill in September. All property taxes, County M&O, BOE, etc., are going to come down this year by whatever amount your recent assessment was reduced. Mine went down 25%. So if you paid $1000 last year, and your assessment went down by 25% then you will be paying $750 this year. The budget is done for this year, but depending on revenue over the next 12 months there may have to be a millage increase next year to make up for some or
  15. Thanks SG, that sums it up pretty good as to how it will effect the homeowner. AND, with the SPLOST in place we keep getting the road work and public safety funding, as well as Parks & Rec.
  16. A referendum to fund the airport with bonds was voted down. The previous BOC Chairman, King Jerry Shearin went forward anyway and built it with primarily FAA Federal funds and some state funds. The citizens were told "Not a dime of paulding taxpayer money would be spent on the airport". But the county paved the road and did other work which indeed we have paid for. The new administration building and courthouse were NOT put to a vote. They are being paid for with bonds starting last year. The previous summer, King Jerry got caught trying to slip the bond increase in the backdoor so he ser
  17. No you are getting to be just as BAD as RR/GOP Rules. I agree with some of Obama's programs, including where he and the Russians agreed last week to open back up the export of USA chicken, which was costing us $1million per day, just FYI. And the trade negotiations going on with the EEC to open that market back up to us as well. That would be another $1miillion to $2million PER DAY. Not that it matters to folks like you. Please bear in mind Poultry production is the NUMBER ONE INDUSTRY in the state of Georgia. So don't push it to the side too quickly. And the Georgia Poultry Industry does
  18. And during that time we had Bill Carruth and King Jerry leading their pack of RBMDs.. No industrtial development, only high density PRDs. Now we have to pay the price for that idiotic zoning approvals validated by the campaign donations to King Jerry and company. And many of you want these guys back in control. I just don't get it. Industrial development and warehousing is a natural here for us. And we have virtually nothing. Why ? So go on and pay the property taxes, and when and if the SPLOST fails, get ready to pay more property taxes. The state will mandate minimial police an
  19. Besides the point we have fewer manufacturing/warehousing businesses here today, then we had 6 to 8 years ago, what are you talking about ? You don't want better and higher paying jobs available in Paulding ? King Jerry and company had great plans for the airport, and although I will admit it is a check in the "plus" column for some companies, most smaller ompanies really don't care. For the hi-tech stuff and really large companies, yes, it can help get them to come here. I think we will recoup what the county has spent on the road, landscaping and terminal. But, without any hange
  20. Somehow, that does not surprise me at all. Why should the major campaign donors be an issue ????
  21. And without SPLOST the Sheriff's department will have to decide between upgrading and replacing old equipment, some long out of date......or cutting officers. They will not be able to do both. Same for the PDOT. Filling pot holes will be all they can do. I would hate to see us miss the millions of matching funds we will forfeit for some of the badly needed road projects to alleviate congestion in Hiram, and make the Hiram Bypass / Bill Carruth capable of sustaining the hospital traffic and industrial projects where the Stinky Fields used to be. There is nothing left to trim out
  22. SG, It does indeed appear our loyal GOP crowd is split on Post 4, but will be happy as long as they can stop David Barnett. Like you, that says it all to me in a nutshell. If the old school GOP, which I would venture to guess includes King Jerry and his RBMDs, is against Barnett, then I am all for him. And, I am also quite interested to see who files what disclosures and WHEN. They can file them as early as Thursday, or procrastinate until I think the 9th ? Then again, they can simply hold the checks until Thursday, and not have to file for an additional couple of weeks or the end
  23. New York Strips, grilled rare. Freshly dug garden potatoes [just came in from digging them and DAYAM it is HOT!. Gently boiled and tossed with fresh parsley, chives, and sour cream & butter. Little Verts, the REALLY small tender green beans. Still to be picked from the garden. Fresh maters. Company is coming and brining wine. Maybe a bagette and a small salad as well.
  24. The county operates with a 6.65mil property tax collected from land and homeowners. That pays for all of the basic county operations. Sheriff's office, Marshall, Courts, jail, animal pound, PDOT, Parks & Rec, etc. That budget is available on line. It has been cut I believe $11million to make up for the 17% expected shortfall on property taxes this year. Your property taxes should go down by whatever your new assessment was [which you should have received the past couple of weeks]. We have had a general county splost, which subsidizes the budget. And an EPLOST which is dedicated to the
  25. There are several sites you can go to which will tell you what district you are in. District 19 picks up Hiram up towards, but not quite to Dabbs Bridge, and East to Cobb. It runs west towards 61, but does not include much of Dallas. I am in Post 1, and District 19, but I don't think the district lines having ANYTHING to do with the Post Lines.
