First, if Atlanta wanted to put an airport on that 10,000 acres it would be done. Pubby despite your support, the taxpayers are footing the bill for upgrades to an existing property. The airport doesn't need to be upgraded except to bring in Commercial service. It works fine for what it was intended. Also despite your constant drivel about Delta, it's just not true. Thank goodness someone (I don't know who) has stepped up to help the citizens lest we be run over the same way the Pips have been.

The Anti-Growth group nick named the three stooges
tundra replied to Animal's topic in RECENT TOPICS
No Tony Crowe wasn't at the Chamber sponsored debate, he has however given multiple interviews, all available with a quick youtube search. I heard him speak at the Meet & Greet at Bethany Christian Church on April 3rd, there is video. I heard him speak at the Paulding Republican women's meeting on April 26 and was interviewed on Ponytail Patriot's internet radio show (posted here BTW). One event, just one he didn't attend so why don't you call and ask him why he wasn't at that one event? -
The Anti-Growth group nick named the three stooges
tundra replied to Animal's topic in RECENT TOPICS
hahahaha, keep trying Animal. I think all of them are outstanding citizens. In fact, we have a pretty good group of people to choose from, but none are perfect. Remember not to throw stones when you live in a glass house. What has our current Post 4 Commissioner done for his post? I'm guessing he's never filed a late or amended disclosure statement? He'd be better off running on his record instead of running a negative campaign. Not to mention two other candidates couldn't fulfill the terms of the positions they were elected to or appointed to. How can you claim to care about th -

So you admit the proper study wasn't done, but I'm the one that's wrong? Alrighty then. Did you know they also want to widen the runway to 150 feet and get an additional 2 acres of land at the west end of the runway? Yes the FAA knows a thing or two about airports and the environment. They also believe strongly in citizen input. I also see you haven't made it out to Clear Creek, Jones Mill, Oak View, Fair Oaks, Tanner Farms or any of the other subdivisions built in the last few years. The ones that required two brand new elementary schools and a new middle school be built to

17 homes, just 17? Ok, if you believe that I have some ocean front property you can buy up in Tennessee. Show me the study where those numbers came from, then we'll discuss it. Just because someone says it, doesn't make it true. BTW, the environmental impact studies were not done as required by the FAA, it's gathering public input now.

Political threat gets angry constituent felony conviction
tundra replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
As I said, don't threaten, just do it and it's all fine. Really, does that make any sense? Seriously? I think the judge walked a fine line there, I didn't see any threat of physical violence, just digging to get facts. Something politicians have done for eons, not to mention elected officials right here in Paulding doing the same thing against people that speak out against them. Don't threaten, just do it. -
I don't have time to elaborate but they are talking about shuttle services or both Dallas & Hiram and GRTA going to the Park & Ride in Dallas. Richard was there, he should be able to fill you in.

After sitting through the DOT meeting yesterday, Taxi service will take away from some of the proposed "new" plans they have, especially for downtown areas of Hiram and Dallas. They can't get federal money for a private business (well, they aren't supposed to lol). It's all about getting that almighty federal money to put in what they want. It's an absolute shame they continue to drive away private business.

Political threat gets angry constituent felony conviction
tundra replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
While I do not agree with the "threats" from this person. I find it disturbing some think we probably shouldn't second guess our elected officials. Isn't this exactly what Obama did to his opponent to win his Senate seat? Should elected officials be investigating the backgrounds of their most outspoken opponents? So the moral of the story here is don't threaten to do it, just do it, it's not a felony then. -
Woot!! Good for you. Yes we enjoy ours year round. It's always so relaxing sitting by it even in late fall and early spring. Winter, I just look at it and long for summer. lol ETA: I LOVE the design!!

There's already a 2nd airport in Atlanta
tundra replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
shhhh, you're not supposed to ask that question. The peons in the peanut gallery aren't supposed to see or know those things. I have friends and family that live out of state that are flabbergasted at the thought of this airport ever making money. Having some connection to small/med airports they understand completely why this boondoggle is going to cost the taxpayers a bundle. They've been following. -
Um so I watched Secretariat win, yea I'm old. lol Being from Kentucky I used to watch every time, now the garden and life get in the way. lol Have a good friend from Louisville that always goes, I wanna wear one of those hats! So much fun.

What's the update on the heavy industrial park?
tundra replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Pfft, they're spending all their time and money on the airport. Who needs jobs when there's commercial service coming that will make them appear like magic.- 1 reply

Pat and Patti Show Chamber's debate puts all but one candidate on stage

I guess some people didn't even know that during Snowmageddon 2014 when people were stranded all over Paulding county and metro Atlanta, Tony Crowe was up in Seven Hills and Bentwater, helping people get home. Doubt they even realized who he was, he was just being a neighbor and friend. I don't think Mr. Crowe is afraid to debate, in fact I doubt there's much Mr. Crowe is "afraid" of except mistruths. Wonder why David Barnett was the only candidate that didn't respond to the opposition group about his stance on the airport? Why is he afraid to say he's for commercial flights? -

Oh yea, forgot to mention- you do know that Harstfield was a little airport at one time, right? Now let's see about home values. http://realestatedamages.com/pdf/AirportNoise.pdf http://www.eltoroairport.org/issues/rbell.html

OK I'm glad you think this could never happen here. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xkk8o9_us-airports-crime-rate-on-the-rise_news Been near Charlie Brown airport lately?

As far as I know all the candidates have shown up to most of the "public" meetings. I know one that didn't come to the meet & greet, just one, because it was his night to care for his aging mother. Perhaps there is good reason when someone doesn't participate in an event. Nothing sinister about it at all. Did you ask him? And yes, I'm saddened that people are being played, good people.

Here's a 2011 study on crime near airports. You are correct, the crime risk is greater near airports. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/travel/news/2011-07-11-crime-near-transportation-hubs_n.htm

Pat and Patti Show Chamber's debate puts all but one candidate on stage
tundra replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
Hmmm, wasn't the 2 day retreat in June? Yes, why yes I think it was. If there is a quorum present, shouldn't there be an announcement in the legal arm of the county? Last I checked the Dallas-Hiram Patch didn't meet that criteria. -
You are correct, both military guys trained on proper usage of weapons. Yet they were not allowed to have guns since they were merely Security Guards. I know one of the guards personally, he's angry, very angry and knows he could have prevented others from being victims. May not have been able to stop his friend from getting shot in the belly but could have stopped the other five shootings.
