  1. *giggle* I know what the word means and I even used it correctly in a sentence. Guess you learned a new word today, huh? Good job!! Sure I'll just write up a great business plan myself, based on other business in the surrounding area, make an awesome PowerPoint presentation, take it to the bank and get approval from them to foot the bill for the construction of the facility. They'll jump all over it because my data shows how beneficial it will be to them. Hiring an outside source to do a study lends credibility and non-bias. That's exactly why businesses like the Boyd Group exist.
  2. So I take it you did not see the "draft" Tom Cable sent to Howard Maxwell. I would think the BOC and the IBA members should have had some idea legislation was being sought. Mayor Devey was sitting directly behind me when the FOIA obtained message from Tom Cable to Howard Maxwell was distributed to the BOC. She was a little surprised to say the least. No you certainly would not see it as a big deal, I understand why YOU wouldn't.
  3. Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I don't think a private law firm that is supposed to represent the county on legal matters is authorized to request a sitting legislator to write or revise laws without knowledge of the full Board of Commissioners. I don't think requiring legal counsel and employees to get the Board of Commissioners approval is micromanaging. I have retained legal counsel on many occasions and they have never filed any paperwork on my behalf without notifying the owners of the company before hand.
  4. Pubby, you don't seem to understand, Propeller hasn't produced any such plan for us to see. 1. Any study done was probably proprietary, not by a reputable firm. If such a study exists, why haven't we seen it? 2. McCullom field is 10 short miles from the new sports complex, they are talking about charter flights, not 737s. 3. Why is it so hard understand, I'm not opposed to a general aviation airport, just 737s, the TSA and what surrounds an airport with commercial flights.
  5. Here's the study recently completed by the Boyd Group for McCullom Field. This is just for charter flights, not 737s. Where is the one for KPUJ? http://portal.cobbcountyga.gov/images/documents/dot/mccollum/updatemarch2014_airporttraveler.pdf
  6. It's not his babble, it's the chamber's. You completely dismiss the fuzzy math. Do you realize landing fees at larger airports are much higher than small airports? Heck there are many that waive landing fees so they can make money in other areas. Most of the money to be made at Paulding Airport has been handed over to a start up company that has never run or managed an airport. Guess who's taking the financial risk associated with that? Know what else? That company is backed by investors, know what investors do with companies? They sell them off to the highest bidder. If they are
  7. You're welcome. My husband has been doing this for almost 10 years. So far, his A1C only went over 7 once in all that time. He got lazy and quit watching his sugar readings. He's back on track and doing well.
  8. Candi's interview style works fine for her, she was interviewing you, it was not about her. I was interested in what YOU had to say, not Candi. I think that's how she's interviewed all the candidates so far and plans on interviewing the others. I would hope that the other candidates that have not yet been interviewed would take the time to hear those others so they have an idea of "how" the interview is set up.
  9. 1300 calories a day is not very many, be sure to check with his doctor before he drops his intake that low. Men need more calories than women to begin with. Don't go on a crash diet, he needs muscle mass to keep up the exercise. Talk to his doctor about his caloric intake. When first starting out, take sugar when fasting (in the morning before he eats anything, black coffee is OK), then test before a meal and two hours after. This is how you determine how he is processing certain foods. Those strips are expensive, about $1.00 each but insurance generally covers the cost of about 30.
  10. Nice, "who the hell are you to tell anyone to shut up", respect is earned, not given. Telling people they don't have a right, is being a little disrespectful, wouldn't you say? That pesky first amendment gives texture the right to tell anyone to "shut up". "super-citizens", this is a joke right? "When you grasp that, you grasp the importance of being politic in that relationship." I think most people "grasp" the concept that the commission chairman does not have ultimate power. I'm thinking this is probably another joke. People are elected to represent the citizens, not igno
  11. The law is very clear on which meetings can take place in closed session. I don't think the airport expansion for commercial service falls under that category. http://hullbarrett.com/attorneys/documents/GASunshineLaws.pdf
  12. There was a two day retreat in Douglasville last June about the airport. The meeting was not properly announced and the minutes were not released until December, 6 months after the event. http://www.ajc.com/news/business/residents-file-suit-over-paulding-airport-authorit/nfXL4/ 20 seconds into the meeting, the airport director announces the minutes from the June retreat.
  13. Here is Pubby's interview from last night. I'm sure he felt "different" being on the other end of the questions. Click on the arrow at the top if it doesn't load automatically. https://soundcloud.com/ponytail-patriot/paulding-boc-post-2-commission
  14. Her name is Candi, you might wanna fix that. You'll do great, you're used to this stuff. Here's a link to the show so you can listen tonight. Looks like the Chamber will be talked about first then the interview with Pubby. Show is from 8:00 -10:00
  15. T & B Pest Control, K.C. Todd. Local company here in Dallas, they will come back for free if the problem is not fixed. Dependable and affordable.
  16. Here is the interview with David Bond. He has purchased a banner ad here. https://soundcloud.com/ponytail-patriot/ga-house-district-17-candidate
  17. Thank you surepip, yes name recognition is a wonderful thing. There was a time Paulding.com was the only venue available to people in Paulding County but social media has come a long way. We have FB, we have youtube, we have skype, we have so many other avenues. Here's a new one that I just found out about, soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/ponytail-patriot/paulding-boc-post-3-candidate Should they buy an ad and subject themselves to the openness Paulding.com? Probably, but to say it's the best venue is debatable based on the thrashing other candidates have received here. It's one of
  18. It matters not if you use FB, every internet search is stored by the search engine. I guess you can call them cookie monsters.
  19. Carpenter bees are not good pollinators of plants and flowers. Bumble bees that look very much like them are great pollinators. A bumble bee rarely challenges you like a carpenter bee, that's how you can tell the difference.
  20. Callaway Gardens is awesome, the butterfly house is amazing. http://www.callawaygardens.com/events/signature-events/azalea-season/azalea-watch
  21. Most of the candidates have FB Pages. Most are getting websites updated and running this week. Keep an eye out and just google their names. As soon as we have all of them (or all we can find), I'll put a list together.
  22. No Pubby, it was not the Church's request to invite everyone, it was some of the other citizens that thought they'd like to hear everyone. It was also requested by other citizens to allow you to introduce yourselves so they could video it. That was a last minute request. We like to listen to the other citizens and tried our best to accommodate their wishes. And yes, all candidates should be "prepared to speak" at any event they attend, it's part of running for office. As I said, each handled it well, I was impressed by everyone. The church had nothing to do with the meeting other than
  23. For every poll there is an opposite poll to show different results. Questions on the polls can skew the results. The only way to know for sure is to have a real, old fashioned vote, in a booth, in private.
  24. I think there was some info on this here, sorry...........next time we'll make a special thread. I have a feeling we'll have more of these. It was really great for all but one to attend. There is a full video on here somewhere. Would you like the link? Who is the one it was not great for to attend? I worded that wrong. All but one attended because he had to take care of his mom. I thought it was great that 8 out of 9 attended.
