  1. With noise and pollution come lower housing values, matters not what creates the pollution. Clayton County and Riverdale were once thriving and growing communities, the climate changed. Can someone tell me what caused that if not the airport?
  2. Bless them surepip. I know Camila is happy to feel safe and sound in your home. What an ordeal, such a good g'pa.
  3. There is a good reason Atlanta has one airport, they're very good at what they do. I've used ATL many, many times for kids and grandkids and lots of awesome destinations. Not once did I have a problem with HJIA, great experience. Did I ever tell you the time I spent four hours on the tarmac at Midway? In the meantime, my sister made it to Atlanta hours ahead of me when she flew out of O'hare?
  4. Bahahahaha, there are a few people that would really like to see me gone. Sometimes that little bubble gets pricked and the whole mess comes pouring out. lol Where would you like to go? I could use a few good neighbors and there are lots of us. Not just a few, a lot more than 10 or so.
  5. I'm right behind you. If this airport goes commercial, I'm gone, as in out of here. Business, property and home...............I can move somewhere where our elected officials care about people, the people that will be hurt the most by a commercial airport.
  6. Whitey, this is an awesome post! Only 10% of the registered voters voted for David Austin, it was still enough for him to keep control of the county. People haven't been paying attention for far to long, almost 6000 voters voted against this airport, that's a whole lot more than 10 and Post 1 with approximately 18,000 registered voters didn't get to cast a ballot. Quit yer b*tchin' and suck it up. The people have spoken and we don't want no dang commercial airport, heck most of us didn't even want a general aviation airport. It's done, it's there now let's make the the most succes
  7. Yes, Pubby you are right. When they shoved this airport down our throats in 2004, we told everyone it would be a money pit. The airport that wasn't going to cost the taxpayers a dime is an admitted failure. Now we're out buying a $500,000 crash truck for a private company to make "profits" (cough, cough) at a commercial airport. Yes, every penny spent on this airport is a waste of money, it's doomed and will continue to only cost us more and more money every year. Shut it down or make it work, bringing in commercial flights won't save it. Wow, I can't afford this mortgage payment on
  8. The county purchased this over a year ago. They've been hiding it in Dallas because the new firehouse is on hold until the environmental assessment is done. Guess they found room in that big ole hanger they just built. Oh and the Post 2 Commissioner was told this was needed for all airports, even a general aviation airport, just ask him about it. He even voted on it because of the safety issue of the airport not having one out there. this happened well before the "deal" with Propeller/Silver Comet was announced. I'm sure if you go back to the BOC meetings, you'll see where it was a
  9. In my best Southern voice, Bless your pea pickin' heart.
  10. What?!?!?!?! Someone is making a claim that people were deliberately pushing people to other facilities based on false information? Really? Is there proof of this?
  11. What? Come on ad valorum taxes are not the same as property taxes. Pretty sure you don't pay school taxes on Planes. Using that logic, people with boats and motor homes will pay a bunch of taxes
  12. I agree tile, if you like to clean grout and clean grout and clean grout. Looks soooooo much nicer but you have to clean the grout.
  13. Summer, summer, summer and summer. My favorite seasons.
  14. He said Martina read her speech how Delta had written it. I know for a fact she wrote that herself. You can listen to it if you want, Mr. Austin's comments are are the end of her speech. Martina starts speaking at 36:30, gets interrupted soon after that, then at the end..........41:30 the comment about Delta is said.
  15. I've been to one casino in my life, walked in looked around and walked back out. I think we were in California, the place was packed! lol Think of all that revenue!
  16. What part of General Aviation is okay do you not understand. It's the commercial planes I have a problem with.
  17. When I first moved to Paulding in 1983 and worked at IBM, no one I worked with had any idea where Paulding County was. I wonder if they still don't know.
  18. I'm thinking a Casino is a better idea. Corporate American can just fly their twin engines right up to the building.
  19. We've discussed this before but I thought it might be a good idea to bring in up again as a result of this recent article in the Douglas County Sentinel. http://www.douglascountysentinel.com/news/article_a8573970-e392-11e3-8b1b-001a4bcf6878.html Another Taxpayer Boondoggle?
  20. Having several members of my family that are autistic, this is so moving. We just lost a loved one last month, he celebrated his 60th birthday with family and friends then passed away quietly in his sleep a few weeks later. He knew he was special and very loved.
  21. It doesn't matter who pays, the Michael Baker Group will get paid and the EA will be challenged and we'll start all over again. The FAA will only pay once, the taxpayers get to pay no matter what. You would think they wouldn't take a chance and use a company with a "clean slate", one that has no connection to the the PCAA or the airport. Instead, they just dig their heels in and do it their way. Why not step outside your comfort zone and for once do what the citizens ask instead of what you want? Those New York City guys still haven't ponied up a dime except to pay for billboards fo
  22. Here's a link to the video. First Blake says Michael Baker Group will do this EA because they hold a contract with the AA from 2011. Then at about 33:30 he goes on to say the Grant has to be approved before the contract with the Consultant or the contract will be nullified and the FAA will not pay for it. Double speak? Confusing at the least.
  23. I'm very confused Mojo, I'll have to go back and look at the recording but didn't Blake also say something about not using someone with a previous contract? I understand Michael Baker is assigned to the work via a 2011 contract but how could this issue be covered in a contract from 2011? Yes, good discussion but a lot of contradictory information.
