So let's get down to brass tacks - election fallout
tundra replied to kcarlsonlpn's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Hello, you have to market it to make it successful! Paulding is awesome at building stuff but they don't know what to do with it once it's built. They haven't even tried because they don't know how. Yes, an experienced airport manager could make an awesome GAA, just look at McCullom and Charlie Brown. If the airport manager can't make a GAA sucessful, how in the heck is he going to make a Commercial airport successful. This is the mentality of Paulding, shoot at the annual meeting they were telling everyone how wonderful the airport manger was, even calling him George Clooney. -

#5 of the document Whitey & I both posted. This is how they "sold" this airport. Were they lying to us then? Are we to believe they are telling us the truth now? -

Here's how this airport was shoved down our throats. I believe this is from 2004, hard to tell since it's not dated. I've noticed many things coming from the airport don't have dates on them. Wonder why? These are the promises they made before they even started construction. Now they want us to believe them when they say it's no big deal, only a few flights a week? In case you didn't notice, the same folks are running the airport now that were there in 2004. Fool me once shame on you, there isn't going to be a second time, it only takes once for me. http://www.savepauldingco.com/blog/wp -

Well let's just say the folks that built it, against the wishes of the people, aren't in office any more. And no it wasn't about funding it in 2008. At least one Commissioner that thought commercializing was a good thing didn't get re-elected this time, the other one that was up for re-election didn't run. So I guess you can continue to keep your head buried and think it was only the funding people didn't want. Some people are taking this to the Obama level, using the same logic he used for Obamacare. It's for the good of everyone, we know best!! It's government ramming something thro -

We voted against the airport twice, funding it or not. We voted Shearin out when he built it anyway, along with the 65 million dollar court house. Now we've voted the anti-airport candidates in. Do you think they'd understand we didn't want an airport to begin with, let alone a commercial one. Pay attention, we're not all from Paulding County and a bunch of us graduated high school and went on to further our education. Toto, you're not in podunk rural Georgia anymore. Many of us like to come home to peace and quiet and don't mind a commute to work. True story. -
Since I spent the day making a huge batch of coleslaw (it just kept growing), I just had some cheese dip and chips. I'm beat!

Meteor Storms/Showers, not here in the New Ga area.

We have an awesome star gazing area! At about 12:30am I saw a couple really fast ones zip right over head. Given we can see that many on a normal night, I gave up and went to bed about 1:00am. Now I'm seriously pooped with a lot to do. The show will have to go on without me tonight. -
New Hurdles for the Paulding Airport to clear for commercial service ?

Yea, so everyone needs to watch this. It's long but so revealing. Brett Smith is in the background. I especially like the Pirate-ization. This was recorded on election day, May 20th. http://transportation.house.gov/calendar/eventsingle.aspx?EventID=379986 -

You are correct, it means they are not in this state. Their company they created to sign the leases is a Deleware corporation, registered in Georgia. Silver Comet Terminal Partners. Their office address is a law firm. Remember these are the folks we're giving the airport to. A start up company with no history of success, with no office in Georgia and only registered here with the SOS. -

Yes John Dean holds an MBA, in airport management. What qualifications does Blake Swafford have to run an airport or anyone else on the PCAA? It doesn't matter what anyone says, you're all worried about Delta, a Georgia corporation that drives the economy in most of the state. 800 people that work for delta live here and pay taxes here. You're playing right into their hands, we should all be asking who the heck Propeller is and where is there money coming from? Are their investors people that would rather see Americans annihilated? We don't know, we can't know, they are a private c -

Just put it on the ballot then dang it! We have an election in November, don't we? -
I'll continue to go to Rome, Redmond. It's no further for me than Piedmont. The doctors and staff are top notch. I gave up Wellstar 2 1/2 years ago when I was diagosed with kidney cancer and the ER turned it in to the insurance company as a UTI, urethra was clogged from blood clotting, there was A LOT of blood . Yea, the insurance company didn't want to pay that bill for a UTI. I don't even want to talk about my visit with the urologist.

It saddens me to see continued division and bickering. The people spoke at the polls, they don't want this commercial airport. If you don't believe me, put it on the ballot and see for yourself. Digging your heels in deeper is only making it worse. Good people make bad decisions every day. This is not about anyone personally, it's about telling the taxpayers to shut up and sit down while we do what you don't want. This is no different than Obamacare, it's about the government telling the people they know what's best and they don't want to hear what the public has to say about it. -

Let's put it like this, you have a mold problem because the gutter company put the gutters up how they believed was correct but water still got into the walls. Would you pay the gutter company that is more than capable of the repair, or would you seek out a different company to be sure the problem was what they say it was. Personally, I'd get a second opinion. -

Right? I didn't hear many complaining about the funds spent to keep the Pip's out of court. They didn't need big money, they had taxpayer money. What about Propeller, where are their financials, where is their history for running an airport. When a citizen tried to do Due Diligence and find out for herself, she was threatened. -

If things are done properly, there is no need for additional fees. Clearly the Michael Baker group is more than capable of doing this project, however I would think the Airport Authority would reach out to other companies that are just as capable to avoid the conflict. Why the Michael Baker group? -
You would think the Airport would want to avoid any further questions about transparency and ensure a proper study would be done that would not call any results into question. I understand "familiarity" but sometimes a new set of eyes can see things we've overlooked time and time again. I agree with some of this. I'm old but I'm not anti-growth. I want to see planned, job creating growth. I don't want to just build stuff and hope they will come. This has gone on for far too long, it's time to quit with the grandiose schemes and put the money where their mouths are. Time to move forward with not only job creating, but citizen endorsed growth. You might be able to convince 30,000 people who's kids and grand kids all grew up together that your ideas are the best but you are not going to convince 150,000 people of that. The devil is in the details, I like to read the fine

You were more help than you realized. Every time I was exhaused, every time we felt it was tough to go on, I thought of you and your lovely wife and what you have endured. Sadly I learned you are not the only resident that has suffered injustice at the hands of local governments. You sir were an inspiration and a driving force. Thank you, thank you for reminding us of the reason to keep going.
