  1. Go up 75 to 575 and keep going north. Pickens is north of Cherokee and the county line is where 575 stops and 515 starts. I used to work in Canton but would go to the Jasper office once a week.
  2. See, people need to realize the interstate number is NOT the speed limit! LOL. So if it's currently 55 and people do 80 (traffic permitting), what's going to happen when it's 65? May just get clearance for take off!! It's like that one stretch of road in Texas with a speed limit of 85. The bad part about that one--it's a toll road! Logical, do 85 mph and then STOP!!!
  3. Is it a specific area of the body? Village Podiatry has a location in Hiram, off 278 at Greystone Pkwy behind Tractor Supply Company and the Greystone Power building. They do foot/leg wound care, especially diabetic wounds. As far as in general, I don't know of one right off hand.
  4. See if she can write a letter clearing things up. A lot of people refuse to take prednisone because of the side effects, even though it's great when needed. Good luck with the next three days (and it can remain in the system up to 5 days after stopping it) and if the doctor didn't give a dosing schedule (my former employer would break down how many at breakfast and lunch and dinner), just remember not to give it too late in the evening. Hope he gets better soon! Oh, and at least there's a week-long break next week! He won't have to be in school all itchy and bouncy! He ti
  5. The Neighbors on ABC. The commercials just look stupid. I've seen the pilot for Go On on NBC and, as much as I like Matthew Perry, I don't see that lasting either. I've about given up on good comedies the past few years. Nothing has made me laugh out loud like Friends did, and even watching the reruns and knowing all the punch lines, I still crack up. Revolution seems interesting, wonder if it will get the same following as Lost.
  6. Love Patsy Cline, especially Walking After Midnight! Thanks!!!
  7. Heartbreaking and my prayers are going to this kid and his sisters. Fortunately he was able to tell LA authorities who he was and where he lived otherwise this story may have had a more tragic ending, like him on the streets of LA and his sisters possibly getting hurt even worse. The poor kid had to find a family member to take him in because he's too old for child protective services and not disabled for the state to take care of him. Hope the family member is getting him the help, physical and mental and emotional and spiritual, that he needs.
  8. Sorry to hear that, Mr. Dis. My oldest was diagnosed with ODD primary and AD/HD combined type secondary at age 5, so I get some of what you're going through. Most people tilt their head and ask "What's oppositional defiance disorder?" and when you tell them, they don't get it. I had one neighbor laugh and say it's a fancy name for being rude and an ass. That was NOT appreciated. ADHD kids are tough enough but adding the ODD is very frustrating, especially when so many people don't understand the details. And, before anybody starts griping, my son wasn't diagnosed at his pediatrician and
  9. I need a chiropractor myself, my back is so out of whack it's not even funny. Anyway, like I said, the video clip was basically saying that chiropractors are the only doctors needed. I'm not sure if I'll watch the movie or not--I might get too mad! LOL. I'm a LPN--know anybody hiring?
  10. Wine tasting isn't the first thing that comes to mind when I hear Acworth. There's antique shops in downtown Acworth. Go a tad south to Kennesaw Mountain. The museum has some good stuff about the battle of Kennesaw Mountain and there's a movie you can watch. You can either hike to the top of the mountain or drive (the driving is limited to certain days but I think there's a shuttle that will take you if you don't want to walk). For a waterfall, head up toward Helen and off Alternate 75 is the Blue Ridge Scenic Hwy. Duke's Creek Falls is off to the left and it's a walk down to the base of
  11. So, according to the trailer, the only doctors that should treat people are chiropractors. What are other doctors supposed to do then? I don't agree with a lot of what I saw in this trailer. I guess the insulin-dependent diabetic just needs a chiropractic adjustment and they won't need to take insulin injections anymore. Spinal alignment makes the pancreas produce insulin, huh? I'm all for chiropractors and need to see one myself! And I get so sick of people saying the pharmaceutical companies are telling doctors what to do and you have to write a script for drug X--it's the insurance com
  12. I was going to suggest you check your settings, keyboard, shortcuts. I saw something like that on Pinterest as a way to prank people. I would do that to my husband but it's his work phone and he gets so many emails and texts and it wouldn't be pretty. But now that you know, you can have fun with her. Some people change the contacts to completely random names (although if you arrow over you can see the phone number). Have fun, and remember revenge is a dish best served cold.
  13. I went to Salon Rouge and saw Krystal. She did great (and if you google them and find the yellow pages listing there's a coupon!). They're in the Shoppes at Downtown HIram next to the dance studio. PM for contact information.
  14. If you can, get the Park Hopper passes for the Disney parks. It's cheaper per day and you can start at Magic Kingdom in the morning and "hop" over to MGM in the afternoon, for example. I like Animal Kingdom, you have to see "It's Tough To Be A Bug". The kids might like Universal better. Get a combo pass for that too. Universal Studios has the movie-based rides (Jaws, ET, The Simpson, Twister, etc) while Universal Islands of Adventure has the thrill rides and roller coasters and Harry Potter. You can go to Universal City Walk, which is a big shopping/dining area between the two Universal
  15. I always thought the charities that take car donations sell them for parts and scrap metal to get cash anyway. Reading the other comments, though, I'd see if it can be fixed then take the new car back. Why have a car payment if you don't need one!
  16. The pilot was able to avoid Abney elementary--the kids were outside playing. That was the first time helicopters were used to transport patients to Kennestone. My mom worked at a doctor's office across the street from Kennestone and she said he got a phone call from the hospital and told the staff to cancel his appointments and lock the doors. He ran out. They had called every doctor in the area to the hospital, even if they didn't work directly there, and it was crazy. I also knew someone who was an ER nurse that day at Kennestone and she said there was a burn patient that came in and th
  17. Just because they're legally able to doesn't mean you have to let them. My oldest is almost 11 so I've got some time before I've got to worry about it, but it's ultimately going to be my decision. If he gets his learner's at 15 and I want him to have that for 2 years (which I think should be the law anyway), then so be it. So many kids feel a sense of entitlement, that a brand-new car is supposed to magically appear when they blow out their 16 candles. Also, the first car he does get is going to be what mine was--a 4-door, 4-cylinder midsize family car that shakes when you go over 55 and a
  18. And they're probably the same ones with a "Look twice, save a life, motorcycles are everywhere" stickers on their family cars. I just wish they didn't think they were above the law.
  19. Especially if the guy can braid his chest hair! LOL
  20. You go buy a diamond ring for your significant other at D. Geller & Son-they'll give you a free rifle! Hope your aim's good! LOL
  21. I actually heard the commercial for this on the radio yesterday! It's a hunting rifle if you make a purchase of $2499 or more.
  22. I never heard WHAT was on the tax that was voted down and I think that was part of the problem. People didn't know what it would go for and they were talking about projects not in our area. If they want a penny tax for transportation they need to put a percentage toward the entire region (all the interstates, increased access to MARTA and bringing it further out into the suburbs) and a percentage toward local projects, like widening 92 or Bill Carruth.
  23. I'll do the world a favor and NOT participate in that. I've got two kids and I look like the dart-throwing balloon game at the fair--the balloon part!
  24. But I'm not about to get close enough to find out!! Why did I read this? We already have enough problems with spiders in the house--no brown recluse that I've seen--and that's bad enough! I have really vivid dreams where I'll actually talk and even sit up and look around in my sleep. Sometimes I'm conscious of this, sometimes I'm not. I dreamt that someone had put a tiny snake in my bed and I sat up (both in my dream and in real life) and was trying to get the snake out of bed. My husband woke up and went to put his arm around me, and in my dream his arm turned into a 10-foot-long an

    Sirens?

A "watch" just means conditions are favorable for forming tornadoes and to be on alert. A "warning" means one has been indicated on radar or spotted by trained spotters. If a watch is issued the sirens can and will go off when a severe thunderstorm warning is also issued because that combination is more likely to produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorms can also have severe, heavy rain, strong winds which could knock down trees/power lines, hail, and lightning. They just want you to be aware that the situation has gotten more severe and take necessary steps to stay safe. I just wish I coul
