Most people do not understand liberty or the meaning of freedom. Stay on the path Postman eventually they will wake up. -

To all of the people who signed up to run for public office, Thank you! To put your name and reputation on the line is a sacrifice most people will never know.

The Russians are committed to Cuba and most likely want a Northern hemisphere base of operations for as long as possible. Kind of like saying "we can play in your back yard too"

The state Board of Education voted Thursday to give school districts the flexibility to not make up as many as nine of the school days cancelled because of the two winter storms that hit Georgia over the past month. The unanimous vote was expected after a committee of board members approved the idea on Wednesday. http://www.ajc.com/news/news/state-regional-govt-politics/state-board-of-education-gives-districts-flexibili/ndWQC/

Here is the long answer: O.C.G.A § 20-2-168 © (1) Except as otherwise provided in this Code section, public elementary and secondary schools of this state receiving state aid under this article may provide each eligible student with access to no less than 180 school days of education each fiscal year, or the equivalent thereof as determined in accordance with State Board of Education guidelines. (2) Any provision of this subsection or this article to the contrary notwithstanding, when the President of the United States proclaims a national emergency or when the Governor proclaims a state

Well keep me in mind in the spring. My family loves fresh eggs and produce. I just read that the Cobb County BOC is revisiting their Chicken ordinance again. Apparently they are looking at expanding the amount of property that a person has to have in order to raise birds.

If you are on the South side of the County try the Ace Hardware in Lithia Springs. They have metal cans for a good price. Metal cans are worth the cost if you can find them.
-
So the key question is when are you going to be selling the eggs?

I saw an add in New Pioneer for them try: www.henhoops.com

The key question is how much do you want to pay and what are you trying to do?

The devil is in the details! It is still unclear if this additional funding is a one time deal or if its going to be sustained. If it is a one time increase then that would limit the types of things it could be used for. I also think that if it was meant to be an continued increase in funding it would have been tied to a specific initiative. Don't get me wrong, money is money, but again the details are the question.

Actually, i think the suit was on behalf of members of the service who are stationed over seas. The time frame for run off elections did not allow the ballots to get to men and women in the military and be returned. Thus the theory was that people in the military are/will be disenfranchised by a short time period of run off elections. The State of Georgia failed to comply and a Federal Judge decided on what would be an appropriate time frame.

Colorado Marijuana sales 67 milion tax revenue
nickchester replied to Animal's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am not suggesting it but I think it is the next logical question. If the projections are correct, and that is a question yet to be answered, then demand in Colorado will soon outrun the supply. I would think that states like Georgia, North Carolina, etc. would be players in producing any kind of Ag products. Just thinking out loud, but there is no border patrol between the southern states and Colorado (yet). You are correct about the federal interstate laws. -

This is an interesting topic from an Ag perspective. Georgia has grown tobacco for decades and is increasing it's out put each year. Apparently the Chinese have a taste for American grown cured tobacco. It would seem that GA, NC & SC would be able to supply those Western states and maybe the rest of the world. Does anyone know if the law in CO forbids importing from other states? -
Thank you much. I am trying to line up classes for 2014. Knowing how to swim is a great skill to have and fun.

How were the swim lessons? I would really like my boys to take lessons this year.

Good morning, does anyone have any information on Roundtree Rec. I am specifically looking for information on their swimming programs/lessons. Has anybody put their kids in the swim program? I did not see a contact email on the website and I understand their facility is the closest on the south side of town.

Question, I seem to remember that the city of Austell and Cobb County filed suit against Norfolk Southern over the rail transfer station. Anybody remember how that turned out? I think there was a settlement reached with the residents but it was still built.

Mike Rowe Explains Our Job and Education Crisis
nickchester replied to Jamie Gilbert's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Maybe we should send a copy of this video to all six or seven or eight of the people who are now running for state schools superintendent. Thus far I have yet to hear any one on the state level articulate the vision for public education that is skill based. Hopefully over the next couple of months we will hear some of the candidates for higher office offer a specific plan for education in Georgia. -

I think Mike is spot on as well. It's the implementation of the solutions that may need another two or three videos to explain. -
Mike Rowe Explains Our Job and Education Crisis

I'm a big fan of Mike Rowe's TV show and the interview is really thoughtful. The problem is a 40 minute interview has all the five minutes of possible solutions. I think most people are aware of the key issues and problems in education, the hard part is coming up with solutions. Unfortunately education and especially education as it applies to workforce readiness are complex issues. They do not lend themselves to short soundbite answers.
