  1. My DD has MY attitude and it drives me crazy. She is stubborn, bossy, opinionated, and fearless. She's only 4. As far as her dad?? She hasn't been around him enough to pick up his habits. I see him in some of her facial expressions, but she actually looks more like my sister with her expressions than him.....I guess time will tell. Either way, I don't hate him....I'm indifferent towards him. Doesn't bother me one way or the other.
  2. Oh, shut up. As someone who once served in the military and has loved and lost those in the service, I don't care what snopes says. This story, when passed around through email or social sites, causes people to pause from their busy lives and remember why we have the freedom to make the choices that we make in our lives. It's like when I hear people bitching about gas prices and blaming the people of Libya for it. It makes me want to punch those people in the eye. I'd gladly pay more for gas if it means that an entire group of people can experience the freedoms that I take for granted
  3. It was my understanding that the money went through the insurance company and the roofer....not the homeowner. You sure you didn't break any laws?
  4. Deal. I'm one of those "head to the mountains, not the beach" kind of girls. I'm still trying to figure out a way to end up in the Pacific NW.
  5. I hate visiting FL....I couldn't imagine living there. :shudder: Best of luck to you!
  6. Based on the pic the op posted in his ryan's thread.....it may be on par.
  7. Explains the "screw you" in the other thread. way to class up the place.
  8. Early release or conference days don't impact the total overall schedule.....since the kids are there for a certain number of hours it counts as a full day, even if they leave an hour or two early. I think.
  9. When I heard about the first 3 furlough days I was in Singapore. I spend every dime that I brought with me.....because I knew it would be a LONG time before I could afford to travel like that again!
  10. Cuts hurt, no matter which group gets it. Teacher/state employee cuts stay in the news whereas small buisness cuts are rarely discussed pubically. I'm outraged at all of the cuts (public and private sector), but it is what it is. I decided with the first round of furloughs that there wasn't a bit of this that I can control.....except for my attitude about it. If I'm going to be broke, I better damn well figure out how to be happy.
  11. Snot n' all. Randomly, in the middle of my social studies lesson, I had a longing feeling to leave work and go get my baby. She jumped in mud puddles going into the store and it was wonderful (even though she splashed me every time....but the giggle fits were worth it).
  12. I quit WF after the merger. I now use SunTrust because I can get Delta miles. It's okay. The website leaves a bit to be desired compared to what Wachovia had, but otherwise it's okay.
  13. If I had a nickel for every........ In GA, the student has to have been out of school for a certain amount of time (a year maybe?) or else the teacher will lose their certificate. This is addressed in our ethics meeting every year. I was 22 when I started teaching......I dressed very conservatively and never talked to a male student unless someone else was around.
  14. This song came out right after my daughter was born...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsiLHR0N1m0
  15. Hooray! I was just thinking today, "damn, I wish I paid more for healthcare"
  16. It's only $25/month. Though I suspect bail is going to cost quite a bit more.
  17. IMO, it IS daycare....as my kiddo will be at the same place for pre-k that she's currently in for K-3. I want her outside playing throughout the day so that she can burn off energy......and I also want her learning some thing while she's there. I currently pay $135/wk and would LOVE for the cost to come down, but IMO, as long as it doesn't go up, I'm pretty happy for another year.
  18. I don't see how this is the state's problem, though I most certainly can find some sympathy. Hope didn't pay for all of my college, so I took loans. The interest rate is so rediculously low (mine consolidated at 3.9%) that it may be the best option. My kid goes to pre-K next year. I currently pay $135/wk for day care. I would have had to pay $65/wk next school year for before/after care under the current pre-K funding............I'd rather pay less, but am glad I won't be paying more And I play the lotto. Though I hope that I never play more than the benifits I've received fr
  19. this may be one of the more ethically diverse top 12.
  20. I home they don't use the wildcard on some dumbass while a good one goes home. I hate when they do that!
