I doubt it. It may stop a random mugging or home invasion, sure, but not someone so intent on killing massive amounts of people. Their psychological states don't allow the level of reasoning you are describing.

I think its going to come out that people who may or may not have been carrying guns wasn't a factor. As well armed and suited up as the dude was, a typical handgun would have been damn near useless.

You KNEW they would need clothes, etc. Why not buy a little at a time while it's on sale? I simply suggested that you plan ahead. There are PENNY supplies out there. PENNY. 1/100th of a dollar. It seems like I'd go after those items and gather what I can rather than handouts. Pride being what it is.
