  1. In addition to searching for info, many of us are looking for recommentdations. I can find all of the plumbers in Hiram using the whitepages website, but here I'll find out which one knows one end of a pipe from the other. IfI'm just looking for a name and address, I'll start with the pcom business directory.
  2. The list omits CARE, an Atlanta-based International Relief & Development Organization which already has folks working in Haiti. Over 60 years of service, starting with the original CARE Package in WWII. See AtlantaCAREs.org I retired in 2003 after 17 years with this organization and I can testify to the quality of their work.
  3. I gave through AtlantaCAREs.org, a website set up by CARE, the Atlanta-based International Relief & Development Agency, working in Disaster Relief since WWII with the original CARE Packages. They already have staff in Haiti and are experts in this area. I retired from this organization in 2003 after 17 years with them, mainly at their Atlanta HQ but did get to visit one of their missions.
  4. I know --- some folks like me don't text --- just wanted to put another option out there since WSB mentioned it on TV and I know of their work --- I persnally visited their site in Ecuador once even though I mostly stayed at their Atlanta HQ.
  5. I think the new month stickers they are issuing at the tag office is rediculous too. Instead of the month on one side of the plate and the experation year on the other, you get the month on both sides and a colored strip on one representing the year wit the year in smasll numbers. It confused my sister-in-law, who stuck it on the wrong side, and had to go back and get another one.
  6. If you want to give through an Atlanta-based international non-profit that has been in relief and development for over 50 years and has a staff that has been in Haiti for a while, give to CARE which has set up a website at AtlantaCAREs.org for donations to their Haiti relief and development effort. I retired from CARE in 2003, after 17 years, and know the excellent work they do in disaster relief.
  7. really not so bad considering that i left a bunce of what I thought was extraneous out of the post, including that I found it 4 days ago.
  8. We've always gone to the Steak House in Rockmart and found the food to be good. Guess we have to try this place now.
  9. (1) Found it wednesday, just after being notified of imminent death in family. Was intending to call then, thought it might have been due. (2) noticed it today and tried calling. If I hadn't been preoccupied, might have figured it out sooner. (3) Just wanted to be helpfull. Didn't think about returning it, but that will waste another 2-3 days. (4) Was thinking of locating address and driving it over there, but son of deceased is suffering from a disability where I had to help hom make all arrangements, etc. --- i'm way behind on a number of things. (5) You're right --- my mind is always qu
  10. Great idea --- thanks --- i should have thought of that option.
  11. The website Atlanta Cares was set up by CARE USA, the Atlanta-based Internation Relief & Development Agency. It for donations for Haiti --- they already has a staff working in Haiti. Having retired a few years back from 17 years with this organization, I know the excellent work they do in disaster areas and urge you to donate there.
  12. I found an envelope for a T Storch to a local hospital which I could see had a check in it. Saw it the Kroger Ridge Rd parking lot. It was unmailed and I tried calling to see if they wanted me to mail or shread it. Phone co says whitepage listing is no longer in service. I'm inclined to mail it --- they may not realize it had dropped out of ther car ... but what if they ad and sent a replacement? (1) Anyone know them and can ask? (2) Would you mail or shread?
  13. With google calendar, you can add their e-mail addresses to an Event (add guests) and they will be e-mailed every time info changes.

  17. UPDATE: When we saw her lst night, she was on a ventilator and multiple drips. Huge infection. Kidney problems. Doctor saw some improvement. At 89, she was a very talkative person until this happened. Turns out she's been to the hosptal 3 times in the past 2 months and her son never called. I've tried him over the past few months, since the last time we saw his mother, and he never answers or calls back. However, this morning received a call from the hospital that her condition worsened and that she might pass away in the next few hours. They couldn't reach her son. I finally r
  18. My aunt Ruth Cohen was taken to North Fulton Hosp today and has already had 3 heart atacks. Not expected to last the night, I wouldn't have known unless the Nursing Home accidently picked my number off of her celphone trying to reach family. Her son is reclusive and never answers or calls.
  19. Don't know if you are awarethat the governor dropped the part of the Georgia Homestead Exemption that the state paid for. It's supposed to be more than $300 per average home. I doubt if your mortgage company can explain it to you --- only the tax office can.
  20. If no one responds, we use Vacation Rental by Owner --- several places there --- if u can't find the web site, PM me for it.
