  1. IMO she should of been gone a while ago.
  2. My sister teaches calc. Unfortunately she is in Kentucky. However, her students use this website for extra help. It may be helpful. www.khanacademy.org
  3. BREAKING NEWS: The big city of Rockmart now has their very own gender confused mascot.
  4. My hubby wanted me to ask if anyone know what the story is on the older man collecting money wearing a dress, a fancy hat, and work boots. He was on 101 @ 278 in Rockmart this afternoon when my hubby drove by. Sounds like he missed a really good Kodak moment.
  5. I have never attempted to post a link so I hope this works. When I turned on my computer and Yahoo (my home page) had Harrison High's video I thought it was worth sharing what our talented neighbors are doing. It doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe someone more knowlegable can look on Yahoo and see what I am doing wrong.
  6. Okay...did Naomi look different to you on GMA? Maybe collagen in her lips or some other something. She just looked a little weird to me.
  7. Elvis.. That's Alright Mama. Then girls rushed the stage to get to him. I think he looks like the MAD magazine guy, but he has got a really nice country voice.
  8. I will also recommend Paulding Waste Disposal. We seem to have a very strange trash pattern at our house. Some weeks the can is half full and some weeks it runs over and we have to put boxes and an extra can for them. They always take what we leave and we have never had a problem. I have a friend whose trash has to be in bags in her can and her company will only take what is in the can so if she runs over it is up to her to find a way to get rid of it. PWD has worked for us for several years.
  9. On the 61 end of Nebo Rd. Getting hail, pea and marble size.
  10. i Love Maksim...even when he falls he looks hot.
  11. Does anyone know how much a limo or a town car rental costs for prom? SPHS prom is at the Retreat at Perimiter Summit which is about a 40 mile drive according to MapQuest. My son wants to drive but I just don't feel good about it.
  12. No I can't! What a bummer. I haaev to admit that I never expected them to make it to the final 4 this year so I am stilll happy for a good season. Since most of them are freshmen, just think how great they will be next year.
  13. I've never heard the ultrasound theory. Who knows though, it could be. It is definitely going to be something that is that common.
  14. I like the way you think!
  15. Thanks everyone. I am going to try Pat's on Monday. I am lovin' that it so close to home.
  16. Did my Saturday morning errands. Now I will spend some quality outside time with my dog. The tonight I am going to sit back and watch the Kentucky Wildcats beat Connecticut!
  17. I wasn't offended. There are so many degrees of autism but I would say the largest majority is higher functioning. As far as the increase I believe that people are born with a gene of some sort that lies dormant until something environmental triggers the mutation. I am not sure if it is vaccines or something totally different. I have heard theories on many possible causes but there is no scientific proof to confirm any of the theories. I keep thinking it will be something so seemingly benign. I don't buy into the theory that doctors are just getting better at diagnosing it. Something in
  18. I was not insinuating that it is a good or bad thing to be "touched" by autism. I guess the question that I was asking is how many of you have had your lives touched by someone on the autism spectrum? Jeeze...such semantics. Anyhow, my son, who happens to be on the spectrum would argue that it is not a disability for him but an ability the rest of us neuro-typicals don't have. He nor I see his aspergers as a "horrible thing". I am sure that I would feel differently if he were profoundly autistic and could not communicate verbally. This was not intended as a debate on how 'horrible
  19. I need to rent a tux for my son's prom. I really don't want to drive to another county. Is there someplace in Dallas/Hiram that rents them?
  20. Where are you going to rent the tux? I need to get one for my son too but I don't really want to drive out of the county to get it. Last time he had one Goody's was still in Hiram and I got it there.
  21. All extremely good questions. I am not sure what exactly we should be aware of other than the fact that it is on the rise. Autism is a spectrum disorder and, thankfully a large portion of the people diagnosed are on the high functioning end of the spectrum. They are very self sufficient in the workforce and, in fact, are typically very skilled in their chosen professions. I think that our society is already, even if unknowingly, catering to the needs of the high functioning autistic. We have become a society where there is very little social interaction necessary to live and succeed i
  22. In 2010 the CDC reported that 1 in 125 children were diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. One year later the number has risen to 1 in 110. This started me thinking that if this is true nearly every person should know someone who is autistic. Are you or someone you know effected by Autism? I am curious to see how many people in Paulding County have been touched by Autism.
  23. My very first post on PCom MANY years ago was about this same thing. I remember well because I got slammed by a few folks (most of whom are no longer here on PCom) for expecting people to control their children. I think I was at O'Charley's (if memory seves me) and I was told that if I wanted to spend a quiet date night with my husband that I should not go to a "family restaurant". I thought that was crazy then and I still think that way of thinking is crazy. Unfortunately, many people are not concerned about the feeling of others.
  24. They look just perfect to me. I will never understand why people breed dogs and cast off the ones that are not "perfect". My 10 month old baby was also rescued from being euthanized. I cannot even imagine that. It breaks my heart. Your babies are very lucky to have you for a mom!
