does it bother you when items read "made in china"?
sgt.rock replied to mei lan's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don`t buy anything from China if I can find the same item "made in America".I started this with tools one day while in Lowes(went to Sears).I am willing to pay more for American-made products.Or do without. You have to be careful, though.I bought a Craftsman impact from Ace Hardware and later discovered it to be made in China with less than the lifetime warranty.Ace,though, went to bat for me.Thank-you Ace.- 34 replies

No problem with Comcast since we fired them.

I`ve heard of "brining". Same thing? Might try that sometime.

Like Stradial said, the Cajun place that was in the old bus station didn`t have enough support. They moved to Hiram and still didn`t have enough support, even with a bar.The food was good. The owners were good folks,an asset to the community. The food was as fresh or fresher than Henri`s in Acworth or Gumbeau`s in Douglasville, and just as good.Yes,the menu was smaller, but you have to have an increase in customers in order to increase the menu. Also, the city of Dallas seemed to fight the owner at almost every step when the biz was in the bus station.I`ve heard that the city has given the barbeque fol

Ate there last year.VERY GOOD.Food is always good, but they need a few more windows,my wife says.

What does woot woot mean?

People here have never supported the larger, good restaurants.I remember two different ones located in the Henderson House.Didn`t make it.People seem to support a franchised restaurant, but not family-owned,except for the smaller ones. Our barbeque places seem to do ok,though.I watched Dallas go downhill from the opening of the first Walmart(where Ingall`s is now,I think).Mayor Coleman Camp,a dear friend of mine, now deceased, wanted the Walmart here.We had friendly discussions about that.I watched as more and more of Dallas business went from the square to Walmart.

I worked at Lockheed for awhile in the early 70s,on the flightline. We had a C-5 come in during deer season with a .30 cal.hit.received over the Braswell area.

You think busting a door down and entering a store with the owner inside is a simple theft? You didn`t see the video of the black dude in Ferguson firing a gun through the glass door in the liquor store in Ferguson?Where do you live?Rockmart?

Wyoming,if the wife would go.Wide open spaces.CLEAN air.Good huntin`and fishin`.Good people, mostly non-pretetentious,except for the Californians who invaded Jackson.Hardy, independant folks. And the population of the whole state is less than the population of Cobb county. And these folks can drive in the snow.Have to.Unlike transplanted yankees, who drive to work in their shorts, with a snowstorm imminent, get stranded when they can`t drive in it,and blame the governor for the whole mess.Including conjuring up the storm.

So what and who cares?I`ll lose a lotta sleep over this.

Never heard of Footloose or Kevin Bacon.I know about the Briar Patch.USED to have good barbeque back when Larry East owned it.Ate it once a week.

Only problem with this theory is nothing would be left in the stores.I hope the business owners arm themselves and defend their property..Huh?You can`t use deadly force to stop a thief? Then how come armored truck guards have guns?

I hunt Paulding Forest.Killed two deer this week there.Been hunting there 45 years and love the place.I also own a four wheeler, but I am glad that they aren`t allowed on there. It ain`t the noise. It`s the actions of some of those that ride them.I saw it when they were legal, back during the Paulding County Sportsman Club days(same land).I also oppose the airport, due to the way it came about.I also oppose the building boom(now bust).I moved here in 1969 and loved the quiet, country life, and the small town atmosphere of Dallas. Now I`m ready to leave.I watched Cobb and Gwinnet become what they are n

When did men start having to go to these?
sgt.rock replied to cookies are sweet's topic in RECENT TOPICS
There`s a name for guys who go to baby showers.Or two names. The polite one is "henpecked".Who ever started this trend must be from the same mold that started the adult gimmick of Valentines gifts. When I was a kid, only kids gave out Valentines, and that was at school. No presents or candy, just kids swapping homemade cards. -
A little more info.Georgia has no bounty paid on coyotes.I don`t know who would pay for one, except a fur buyer, and that would have to be a winter pelt. You don`t have to kill what is in a trap. You are required to carry a choke stick to release pets,or an animal not in season. You are required to carry a firearm to kill the animals that you want to.You have to check the trap every 24 hrs.If you don`t know what you`re doing you won`t catch many coyotes, but that`s a way to learn.I nailed a yote in my yard two weeks ago.It was a safe shot using a shotgun. And I was more than 50 yards from the street,

I agree.Ain`t had a ticket in 25 years.Speed traps and redlight cams have no effect if you obey the law.Wonder why your kids break the law?You taught `em it was ok.Some of ya`.

I'm getting really sick of NASCAR
sgt.rock replied to dumbestgirlintheworld's topic in RECENT TOPICS
NASCAR has gotten rather boring.Mostly cruise control and strategy until the last 20 laps.I see more action, wrecks, and anger on the interstate every day. Some on here may be some of the action I`ve witnessed. And you are training your kids to act the same way. -
I am unfamiliar with this situation.Someone who is,please get it on the I-Team or something,so we can all know.Who is doing what to who?Who can we boycott? What builder/developer do we not do business with? What other firms?

The powers- that- be do not want negative publicity going public. They want people to come here and buy homes, etc.Back when you could listen to law enforcement on a scanner, and get all the frequencies, you would hear of homicides that never went public.Burglaries in the 90s happened about every 15 minutes,or at least the alarms went off that much. Now,many of these were false alarms.I wonder how often real burglaries occur now.People think Dallas is Mayberry.Ask an ex-Dallas cop that is willing to speak.I`m not bad-mouthing the officers, just the powers-that-be.
-
I am on a few different forums, other than this one.The majority of the cop bashers are the ones who think the law doesn`t pertain to them. These are the folks who whine when they get pulled for speeding, cutting folks off, being stupid with a gun, etc.Their posts tell their friends how to beat a ticket, challenge the court, and always badmouth the officer,"the mean, mean cop".I put `em on my ignore list.

You are much more likely to die on the highway. So you scairdy-cats ought to quit your job, maybe.

I agree. When a perp flees,he or she puts others lives in danger. If there are kids in a fleeing vehicle, then their safety must be considered. It`s not "one rule fits every situation".
