  1. I did exactly this.... I had lived in GA for over 30 years when I moved up here to MN. What do I miss the most? 1. Family 2. Friendly people (they're not mean up here....just indifferent to whether you live or die). 3. Sweet tea (although I don't need the sugar) 4. Chick-fil-A 5. Mellow Mushroom I'm sure I can come up with many more.
  2. Sadly, the best part of GA is priceless...... Southern Hospitality and Charm. It is sadly lacking in this land up here. My Mother said it was because their long johns never thawed out... LOL Perhaps she is right. You don't know what you have....until you move 1600 miles away to Crabbyland, MN. Ya'll be nice to one another.....it is the South's most redeeming quality.
  3. I remember homeschooling my son to read.....you would have thought the boy had ants in his pants. He could not sit still for anything!!! LOL Working with him in a chair, at a desk, was a joke...the only way he could pay attention was if I would lie on the floor and he would crawl all over me. Constant activity. He didn't learn to read until late (age 9)...but he is a great reader now and reading on his own. Everyday, though, that boy will ask to be excused and go outside and run around the yard a few times...or run the stairs when the temps are -40*F......just to shake the wiggles out.
  4. I'm so sorry. My prayers are with you all.
  5. Cool! I'd love to show the kids the Northern Lights...of course, we're supposed to have thunderstorms tonight... but, maybe...just maybe, we'll get the chance to see them. Space Weather
  6. Doing great! Especially when I remember to stay out of some of the threads here on pcom and away from most of the news..... to only focus on the good things going on in life and not the bickering in forums.
  7. it truly is a wonderful world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzJY96m3lkg&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=AVGxdCwVVULXfC9Q-wGwVaotcA_HZcgIfU
  8. Hopefully watching people buy my old used stuff from out of my garage. If anyone is in the area...stop by.... Detroit Lakes, MN. At least the weather will be good.... highs around 80, low humidity, sunshine and breeze.
  9. If you go swimming while you have your period/Aunt Flo/whatever you call it... you will get polio.
  10. Absolutely true!!! The thing about he mosquitoes is that they travel in packs! Large packs! When the sun finally goes down the mosquitoes come out, in force! It is almost as bad as the documentaries you see about the caribou in Alaska...running for their lives to get rid of the mosquito swarms. It is horrible! But during the daytime...it is awesome! So long as you stay out in the open, out of the woods. Our high today is 75*F. It is a little cooler than usual, but it sure is nice!
  11. AC??? 73*F and <55% humidity. Who needs AC???
  12. Wanted to see what came up....and what needed to be whacked..... don't want the undesirables messing up the desirables.
  13. Ahhhh! Those were the days! I loved the 80's! Drinking and hoeing! Hoeing and Drinking! Nope.... not that kind of hoeing.... darn it!
  14. Just did some hoeing in the garden and picked up dog poops in the yard. It is hot and blowing outside so I came in to kill some time before I go out again.
  15. After 8 years of infertility I had 3 kids in 3 years..... 1998, 1999, 2000. I was 39 when my last one was born. 3 kids in diapers at the same time. You just suck it up and do what ya gotta do! Good Luck! Try to stay sane.
  16. I used to work for the Cole's Family...at their bird stores. Their food is awesome! The Pennington stuff is full of both crap the birds don't eat and/or stuff the birds coming to a raised feeder won't feed on. If you are trying to keep costs under control (you can get addicted to bird feeding) then just use the Black Oil Sunflower Seeds. I used to buy it in 50 pound bags and store it in a metal garbage can. The birds love it! So do the squirrels. LOL
  17. Oh my gosh! i would have freaked! I guess this is what I'm talking about.... I guess "fault" is the wrong word to use... "lack of judgement" perhaps. ??? I'm just amazed there isn't some kind of policy in place to keep all parties involved from having to face something like this. I suppose I never really thought about it .... the medical community isn't within my realm of what I deal with on a regular basis. I am truly ignorant of what is standard practice. Very sad.
  18. I know.... I'm sorry, I shouldn't have posted it. I never post stuff like this but this just really bothered me. I have never gone to the doctor with kids...well, we've never gone to the doctors...so I don't know how this kind of thing is handled. Very sad.
  19. Thank you for replying.....I knew there were a couple of Chiro Offices represented on pcom. I guess it is a cautionary tale for everyone....if you must bring your children, then some kind of alertness needs to be practiced by everyone. Very sad.
  20. I know...it is horrible. I just can't imagine how I would feel...so sad.
  21. 18-month-old dies after malfunction in chiropractor's office I'm curious...where does the liability lay? I realize it is a tragic accident...but should an immobilized patient be left alone with the child in the room?
