  1. Update: My daughter sent an e-mail to the CDC to verify that they have not issued a mandate about this. Once she hears back from them, she will be getting in touch with her regular doctor and this doctor. She said the thing that bothered her so much about all this was if the doctor's office would lie about something as insignificant as a CDC mandate about kids in the waiting room, what else might they lie about. She has trust issues with doctors anyway, going back to the twins, so she has to have 100% confidence in the doctors she goes to. To wait over a half hour to inform he
  2. They don't require a full bladder with the type of ultrasounds they do there.
  3. I can sort of understand not allowing kids in the waiting room, unsupervised. However, my son in law was there and Starr was happily drinking her juice. No signs saying no kids allowed, she wasn't told this when they called to confirm the visit (or make the appointment). But not allowing her to use the bathroom was completely uncalled for.
  4. Kind would be nice. However, making rude and inappropriate comments is wrong unless you're the only game in town. He isn't. It was odd that they said it was a CDC mandate but yet I can't find anything at all from the CDC that says children can't be in waiting rooms. Especially WELL children. I can understand sick kids not being allowed, but well ones. Do we know each other???? From an organization for children, maybe?
  5. I told her she needed to call and talk to the office manager and let them know what happened. I also told her to call her regular OB and tell them. This is not the first incident at this doctor's office. He was quite rude when she went there with Starr. Her OBs office staff told her "yes, he can have an attitude, but he's good". Never mind good if you are rude and inconsiderate to your patients. I worked in the medical field for 17 years and rudeness to the patients just wasn't something that was overlooked because you're "good".
  6. Anyone ever heard of this??? Daughter went to specialist today for ultrasound. She's roughly 24-25 weeks pregnant. First pregnancy did not go well, so they wanted a specialist for Starr and now for the new one. After waiting for over 30 minutes in the waiting room, they told her that her 16 month old could not even be in the waiting room. Said it was a "CDC mandate". On top of that, they refused to let her go to the bathroom while she waited. They don't require a full bladder for the ultrasound! Needless to say, she did not stay for the appointment. Didn't care for t
  7. Glad to know that another parent didn't move once their kid left McEachern. I know so many who did.
  8. Your dad should be able to get it with no problem. FYI, if you need another in the future, you can order them online and have them mailed to you. Of course, if you need one in three days, that won't work. does your dad still live in the same house you grew up in? That's cool. He is like 5 minutes from the health department, then. See you on FB.
  9. the real show was Charlie Daniels. He puts on one heck of a show!! Loved him. I knew every song Skynyrd did, too. Neighbor who went with us couldn't believe I knew all the songs. She didn't know any of them!
  10. Travis Tritt, Charlie Daniels and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Oh, this was at the Dome. Daughter went to see Travis. It was a dream come true for me to see Skynyrd. Had wanted to see them since 1974. Only took me 20 years!
  11. This is not an issue about what the law states about antibiotics vs narcotics, which prescriptions can be called in vs which ones cannot. It is what medical ethics and malpractice insurance carriers state. Essentially, this is done to cover the doctor's butt. I've had antibiotics called in AFTER a visit for continuing treatment or when the first antibiotic did not work (or I had a reaction to the first one). Since different antibiotics work on different bacteria, the cause of the infection would need to be determined. Broad spectrum antibiotics are generally used, but the doctor nee
  12. Mine had to be the 1975 Camaro that I bought brand new in November 1974. I had a 1974 Vega at the time that I had bought two months earlier. One headlight went out on the Vega and when I drove into the dealership to get that changed I fell in love with the Camaro. Next day, I drove home in the Camaro! The Camaro was metal flake blue with white interior. It had a 350 V8 and would flat fly. That car was my pride and joy. Few people other than myself drove that car. I had that car through numerous boyfriends, two years of vocational school, three jobs, three kids. My oldest took
  13. It was 1978 but my entire wedding cost less than $150. That did not include our rings which were considerably more than $150 but did include the marriage license. My dress was on sale for something like $30. My flowers cost as much as the dress. I bought a guest book which was probably $8-10. I wore shoes I already had. The best man paid the preacher. There was no cost for using the church. We had no reception. My maid of honor wore a dress she already had. I bought dinner for my mom, my niece (who was my maid of honor) and myself the night before I got married. Ours was the
  14. Good luck getting health insurance. We have applied with several different companies with no luck. One company, a really well known company, wanted almost 50% more because I'm overweight. That would make our premium MORE than our COBRA was already. No thanks. Another wanted to excuse ANYTHING having to do with my foot (broken then had a bone graft to repair) or my breast (biopsy that was normal). The last one we applied with, just last month, turned us down because of medical conditions as presented by us in the application. What medical conditions? We're both mid-late 50
  15. Not only does La Cocina have a dessert, which is awesome, but let's not forget the sombrero.
  16. Don't forget us!! We can't let Laurie (and Pubby) have all the fun.
  17. It won't be the same without you. Hope your trip to DC was enjoyable. Funny we were both out of town at the same time. completely different parts of the country, too.
  18. That's what she is afraid of. Since the baby is doing well, she is concerned about what is happening to her. She feels fine but knows that long term problems could come.
  19. She has an appointment next week and if her appetite doesn't increase by then, she will mention it to them. She thought maybe last week a lot of the problem was her nerves. She lives in Austell and well, we know what Austell was like last week. I don't know if she has tried any protein shakes. I'll mention that to her. Maybe pick up a few cans of Ensure for her, even. She had an ultrasound a week ago Saturday and the baby appears to be developing just fine. She just isn't gaining weight. Feels fine, though. Not sure if she is taking vitamins but I
  20. obviously not for me! My youngest daughter is pregnant. About 21 weeks, I think. She keeps losing weight. She has no appetite. Nothing sounds good to her and she won't eat other than snaking. She knows this isn't good for her or the baby but she can't help it. Any suggestions? Anything herbal or natural that would be safe during pregnancy?
  21. Way to go, Lisa!! I'm excited for you. I know it has been time consuming for you. It will be worth it! As you know, my middle daughter just finished school to become a medical assistant a few weeks ago. She's only a couple of years younger than you. My hat is off to both of you! Not easy to change careers or go back to school after you pass 25.
  22. I've seen Engine 6 for years now. That is the one that usually responds to my street, as Hiram Lithia Springs Road is just around the corner. I will miss it. I was afraid it was an engine from the HLS station. That is "our" station. Glad no firefighters were hurt. Wish the house could have been saved but as long as the people got out, everything will be OK. To the poster who wondered how they thought they would get through the water, my guess is they didn't realize the water was rising as fast as it was. I've never seen Oglesby Road flood that much. NEVER. I've lived
