  1. Had too much to do to worry about unblocking their numbers and waiting for them to call. I did tell my daughter that they had called and she said she thought they were wanting info on her father in law because they HAD paid what they owed but he still owed for a houseful of furniture. And she gave me his number to give to them in case I unblock their numbers and they call.
  2. That's at least three earthquakes that could be felt in Georgia in about the past 10 days. 11 miles from McCaysville would be around Ranger, maybe a little southwest of there. I know that area pretty well. I have family up there.
  3. Since I'll be home most all day tomorrow, I think I'll unblock the numbers and wait for them to call. It will probably be the last time. THANK YOU!!!
  4. That's where we are. What do you do when you repeatedly tell the caller not to call but they persist? To show how sneaky these people are, apparently they figured out I had their numbers blocked, so they called from one that I didn't have blocked. It is NOW.
  5. It is probably determined by the size of the paper that comes off the paper machine. The paper coming off the machines would be converted to allow for the most useable product. Toilet tissue and facial tissue are made on different machines, too. Seriously, it is probably determined after focus groups were consulted, volunteer (or paid) testers tested the products, scientific studies were done, etc.
  6. That's the thing! He has talked to them and has paid them. He does not refuse to talk to them. Never refused to talk to them. Yes, I was put down as a reference. What REALLY ticked me off about them was when they called to leave a message for his DAD. I know he didn't put me down as a reference. He barely knows my name and address and certainly doesn't know my phone number. Oh, and yesterday when they called, they addressed the message to my husband since I had told them not to call ME anymore. They are about to get more than they were bargaining for.
  7. See my post, #29. I think they are wanting him to tell them how to get in touch with his dad, who owes them money and who they don't have contact info on. But....to keep it legal, they can't tell me why they're calling. Good luck collecting from my son in law IF he still owes anything. He has been unemployed since June 2. If I understand correctly, his debt to them has been paid.
  8. All of these suggestions are great. However, none of them have worked. I've tried them all, and more that I haven't listed. I just want the calls to stop. As far as I understand, the debt has been paid. I really think they are wanting my son in law to tell them how to get in touch with his dad, who apparently still owes them money. They don't have contact information for him.
  9. I've tried that, too. When I say I've tried *everything*, I mean I have tried everything. Did that after my first post this a.m. Everything I have read pretty much says that since it isn't MY debt and they aren't discussing it with me, which would be illegal, there isn't much I can do. All they do is call and leave a message that they need my son in law to contact them. They have never been rude to me. Can't say the same about me, though.
  10. How did you know???? The collectors for the Winder store must be part pit bull. They are relentless. Blocking their numbers doesn't help, telling them to stop won't help, writing them and telling them to stop doesn't help.
  11. They can't tell me why they are calling but I know it is collections. They have been paid, though. And I forgot to mention that they have called me trying to reach my daughter's father in law. Even HE doesn' know our number, so for them to call in regard to him, they had to pull info from my son in law's account. In fact, they may be trying to reach my son in law in order to get info on his dad. I've tried EVERYTHING!! This has been going on for several years and everything (and I mean *everything*) I have tried does not stop them from calling. That's the thing!!
  12. Believe me, I have tried EVERYTHING to get them to stop calling. I told them I would give a message to my son in law but not to call again. Numerous times. I told them I would not give a message to my son in law but not to call again. Numerous times. I told them I never wanted them to call again. Numerous times. I told them they had already been told several times not to call again. I never even let them tell me who they were one time when I told them that they had been told several times not to call. I wrote them a letter telling them not to call again. I told them AGA
  13. I have not tried e-mailing their corporate office. I have spoken to several people, including a supervisor or two. I wrote them probably two years ago telling them not to contact me again. My husband has told them not to call again. Nothing seems to stop them from calling. This time they called from a different number, one that I don't have blocked. We have Caller ID so when they call we generally let it go to voice mail and don't talk to them at all. It makes my blood pressure go up to see their number on CID. Years ago I kept getting obscene phone calls.
  14. I didn't think about that but will do that, too. I just printed out a "case number" for the complaint I filed with the FTC. I also blocked the number they called from. Oddly enough, I had two numbers of theirs blocked already. They simply called from a different number yesterday.
  15. Long story short, the furniture store where my daughter and son in law purchased a TV several years ago keeps calling me trying to find them. They (the furniture store) have the contact information for them so I can't figure out why they keep calling me unless they just don't like to call them and leave a message. I've told them repeatedly when they have called, and have written them a "drop dead" letter, to never, ever call me again. Still they call. I want to file a complaint against them but I'm not sure who to file it with. Do I file with the Governor's Office of Consumer Affai
  16. Find a good attorney and a good accountant and seek their advice. So glad we had the good accountant back in 1986 when se started our first business. Now on business #4, still getting good advice and haven't paid a penalty of any kind in 23 years of operating businesses.
  17. That was what I thought, too. Also, Snikerfitz, get your iron levels checked. Sometimes high iron can cause strange problems like that. With high iron, the problems will be in different places in your body depending upon where the iron is stored and what areas of the body is more sensative to iron.
  18. There may be 2 more days left to file an appeal but believe me when I say it may be two more months before you hear anything about going to the Board of Equalization. The last time we filed an appeal, we filed it in June or July and went to the BOE on November 29. That was in 2005 when there were a relatively low number of appeals filed.
  19. Nothing goes to the Board of Equalization until the appeal is reviewed by the Tax Assessors office. The first step is to appeal, which requires the Tax Assessor to review the assessment. They may stand by the assessment as originally filed, they may agree with the property owner and lower the assessment or they may send it to the BOE to hear. At any rate, going before the Board of Equalization is not what happens first. Been there, done that x 3, in two counties. Process was the same in both counties. I think the OP meant BOE as in Board of Equalization and not BOE as in Board
  20. The Board of Equalization is the last stop in the appeal process, not the first. You will get several interim notices from the county before you get a hearing before the BOE. That is IF it goes that far.

  22. The voters didn't care what she would do, only that she would represent them. And you can read that any way you want to. One reason she won was because people in my district were tired of being dumped on by the county commissioners and particularly OUR comimissioner. My entire street felt this way about Woody Thompson. Probably the main reason she won was she is a black female and the majority of registered voters in this district are black females. And that is a fact. Surprised the crap out of me to find that out.
