  2. RUMORED. Not substantiated. Rumored. Let me tell you the story of a friend of mine. A (mentally) disturbed family member reported my friend to DFCS for molesting his daughter. It took 15 months and thousands of dollars to clear his name in spite of the fact that there was NO evidence of any abuse EVER taking place. He denied it ever happened, his daughter denied it ever happened, his wife denied it ever happened. His friends, neighbors, co-workers, family, fellow church members were all questioned and said "nope, it never happened. We know him and he wouldn't do that". The disturbe
  3. Happy 236th to our nation's finest Marines. Thank you for your service to our country. Especially thank you to my nephew Alex.
  4. soon on the lunch. It's my busy time of the month with my bookkeeping. After that though, I'm pretty much free.
  5. I agree that everyone should have gone the extra step to insure that it didn't happen again, BUT they are in no way, shape, form or fashion as guilty as the man who did the molesting. By the same token, they (meaning Paterno, the president, etc) are not trained to investigate or handle sex abuse or crimes against children. One should believe with all that is right and reasonable that if you report an incident such as this to the proper authorities that it would be handled appropriately. Once you report it, it really is out of your hands. You can make matters worse by getting involved in an
  6. My family has been torn apart by what happened to my daughters. And I won't even go into my own molestation. So, yeah, I take it personally. NONE of these were ever reported to anyone though several people knew about them happening. I'm sure if the state of Pennsylvania felt that Paterno should have done more they would have indicted him. They aren't going to because HE DID WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. Legally, at least. And for once, I agree with WFAL on this. He followed protocol and likely thought that once it was reported to the authorities that it would be dealt with appr
  7. Unless you're the cops, you would have done what you should have done. Report it. If and only if you know it to have happened or have reasonable suspicion that it did. It's not up to YOU to stop it. For an ordinary citizen, yes that includes Paterno, to try to intervene in a criminal investigation is WRONG. It could easily cause a guilty person to go free. I just wish that the people who KNEW that my daughters were being molested had taken the time to report it to ANYONE--police, teacher, anyone. Now, my mother in law knowing is a different matter. She should have stopped it since
  8. Unless he WITNESSED the molestation, he had no proof that it happened. That's why he had to report it, did so and then got out of the way of the investigation. He might have had doubts in the intervening years but unless he had PROOF, and preferably firsthand knowledge and proof, WTH was he supposed to do other than what is dictated that he do? Keep in mind, these were CHILDREN not college students that were involved. Why were they even under the "control" of Paterno?
  9. Paterno is not a cop. It is not HIS job to investigate or to make sure that the police are doing theirs. I haven't read everything about the case, but where does it say that he had to do more than report it to authorities. For all he knew, they were just allegations, they had been reported to the proper authority and the molestation had been stopped. And they are ALLEGATIONS at this point. If I remember my American Government class well enough, one is innocent until proven guilty. Nothing has been proven as yet. Does that mean I don't believe Sandusky did it? No. I believe he did. I
  10. Like Chainshaw said, you're only supposed to report and then get out of the way. Apparently Joe Pa did that. My question remains this: did ANYONE report it to the police? If not, why not? Yes, the ideal person to report it would have been the university president but what about the victims or their families? Did THEY report it to the POLICE? Child molestation is a delicate topic for me. Even at that, if anyone who knew anything reported it to the person they were supposed to report it to did so, they are not liable. They did what they were supposed to do. Wonder how long
  11. When we go down there, we usually stay at Navarre. It's about a half hour to downtown Pensacola. I don't drive in Atlanta. I rarely drive to Marietta or Kennesaw or anywhere in the eastern part of Cobb County. I'll drive in Pensacola.
  12. We have looked at several houses in that area. We do like it down there. Takes less time to get to downtown Pensacola than it takes for me to get to downtown Marietta (and I live in Powder Springs!).
  13. It wasn't too much to drink. It was those darn muscle relaxers.
  14. My former employer and I spoke about this sort of thing at length once. He was very reluctant to hire anyone who had EVER filed any type of complaint, with the exception of wage related complaints, against a former employer. He certainly understood that at times complaints needed to be filed because not every employer followed the rules. At that same time he didn't want to become someone's supplemental income source. Some people, men and women, are just too quick to file complaints if they don't get their way. Then, there are people like my husband who had an EXCELLENT case for age di
  15. I really have to laugh about it because my next door neighbor drives a car like that. Except she doesn't go to the Cumberland area every day. But it could describe her driving.
  16. The upside of all of this has been the support of my friends! I know all of them (including you) would hate to see me leave but you all want me happy. I still say that everything happening is doing so because that first house is where we're supposed to be but until it can be sold, it's just sitting there waiting on US.
  17. We only have so much money and it seems like with prices going up on everything, that our money isn't growing. Oh for the days when Money Market accounts actually PAID interest.
  18. Yes, we're looking in Milton. Such a pretty little town. All it took was about 10 minutes driving around town to decide that was where we wanted to be. Reminds us enough of here to be comfortable. Difficult to keep positive about it. Keep getting disappointed. We were going to take some time off from looking for houses but sitting outside this afternoon we were talking about making a trip down in a week or two to look at a couple of houses. Like I said earlier, no problem finding houses to look at. It's getting an offer accepted that we're having problems with. I could wr
  19. well, other than our friends. Certainly no family to keep us here. Maybe I should say, no family here that wouldn't move with us.
