If this had been handled as it should have been Sandusky would have been fired/resigned under pressure, criminal charges would have been brought against him EARLIER and a lot of little boys would have been safe. Say what you like, but if the POLICE had done their freaking job, the monster would have been taken care of years ago. Go Blue is correct when he said Paterno reported it but there was nothing (LEGALLY) that he could do after that because he was the coach and not the police force. He could not require the PD to do their job, which obviously they did not do. Let's not lose sigh

thank goodness someone gets it!

I didn't know the department. I understand why he would be there if he were in the athletic department.

lowrider said: I can't believe a grown man saw another grown man raping a child and didn't literally pull him away, knock the hell out of him and call 911. I'm with you on that one! But I do have to wonder about something and surely I am not the only person to wonder about it. Do I remember correctly about McQuery being a teaching assistant at the time he saw the incident? WTF was he doing in the locker room if he was a TEACHING ASSISTANT? I'm not looking to argue about anything. Merely stating that he has only been charged with a crime, not convicted.
-
So? He has been CHARGED with a crime, not CONVICTED of a crime. Well, he has been convicted in a court of opinion, a court of the media and a court of a hyperlocal website. And I believe he is guilty as hell BUT until he has been *convicted* of that crime he is to be considered innocent. One does not have to agree with the law in order to believe in the law.
-
Of course, I'm agreeing with you! People who are innocent should not be punished. Students, not all but some, will be shunned by the simple fact that they attended Penn State during the scandal. It doesn't just work that you go to a good school and you're thought to be better (or more moral or more successful, etc). It also works that if you go to a school that has had a scandal that you would be looked upon as being "one of them" (rioters, etc). People don't decide to go to a prestigious school to be thought of as a trouble maker, Berkeley being the exception here. Again, if I were

Yep, only an idiot would blame someone who was innocent. They either looked the other way or didn't find anything to substantiate criminal charges. Potato, potato. They did nothing to stop it EITHER.
-
as would I. However, once it is turned over to law enforcement one should not have to bug the living daylights out of them to get it taken care of. Like LEO is going to tell the reporter of the crime anything. Here's a term we might want to take note of: A vigilante is a private individual who legally or illegally punishes an alleged lawbreaker, or participates in a group which metes out extralegal punishment to an alleged lawbreaker.
-
What "world view"? Knowing that a scandal at a school can sully a student's future and/or reputation? That's a fact. I wasn't referring to punishment in the legal system. I was referring to the ostracism that the students, good and bad, will face just because of their association with the college.
-
But it WAS reported to law enforcement! Apparently it is THEY who turned their heads and looked the other way AFTER it was reported to them. Nobody, but NOBODY is as guilty as the person who committed the crime. NOBODY.
-
believe me, there are students who will be punished for just having attended Penn State.
-
got to! Might need it someday.
-
grouping the "student body" together is wrong. There were many who were outraged at what has happened. They should not be punished for what they had no control over. In fact, NONE of the students should be punished.
-
sorry. Thought I hit reply to a post. Fixion Writer wrote: Shame be upon you Penn State....On your administration, your athletic program...and the student body for protesting the firing of Paterno instead of realizing this was and will forever be a "Scarlet Letter" upon your school!

Most likely, only $229.50 a year. It isn't paid on all wages earned. Unless you're incorporated and paying yourself a salary, you don't pay into unemployment if you're self employed.
-
No, you have never paid a dime into unemployment. That's a tax on employers.

I got my laptop at Best Buy. It's an ASUS and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!

Prayers to Tony, Stephanie and the kids on Mrs. Harris' passing.

Wait a minute!! Why should the Penn State students who had absolutely NOTHING to do with the event in any way, shape, form or fashion be PUNISHED for anything? These students worked hard and paid a lot of money to go to a school the caliber of Penn State. I'd be furious with the university if I were a student or a parent of a student.
-
Never hurts to try. Good luck to you.
-
sorry, you don't qualify since you were not an employee. However, it wouldn't hurt to apply because they might have been classifying you incorrectly. I remember one company that I dealt with at work who ended up having to put everyone on payroll AND paying an "employee" unemployment because they had been classifying everyone as subcontractors when they really were employees. So, go file for unemployment. You might be surprised.

I went to K-mart one time and used my debit card. They were having problems with the machine. Imagine my surprise when I logged on my account and saw a debit from Kroger instead of K-mart. Right amount, right day, wrong store. I just hope K-mart got paid for it and not Kroger.
