frustrated, at end of rope, need suggestions & good vibes

We have researched everything--insurance, property taxes, sales tax, neighborhoods, shopping, neighbors, literally EVERYTHING. We know the area we want to live, know the pluses and minuses, the pros and cons, the traffic, etc. We're not a couple of 20-somethings thinking how cool it would be to live at the beach. In fact, if we move to the area we're wanting to move, we will have to GO to the beach. It won't be far, about 20 miles away. We know that hurricanes can still damage that area, and did quite a number on the area in 2004 and 2005. But we feel the positives outweigh the negatives -

we are well aware of the higher prices on some things. We feel that the benefit of living there will far outweigh the costs. We have weighed the good and the bad and still have decided that is where we want to be. We have nothing here to keep us, other than our daughter and granddaughters and they have plans to join us a year or so down the road. We also realize that we are going to be forced to move in a year, two at the most, and want to make it one move to where we want to stay. If it weren't for needing a one story house, we would stay HERE. We love our home. Really hate to lea -

We have considered LA (lower Alabama). Not necessarily Orange Beach or Gulf Shores, but inland a bit since we don't want to be right on the coast. We LOVE Brewton and have looked a little bit in that area. Hubby mentioned an area just north and maybe a bit northwest of Brewton that he would like to check out. And yes, we have considered buying a smaller place. The last place we made an offer on was 1300 sq ft. The first was almost 2000 (something like 1985 sq ft). The main attraction is NOT the lack of income tax. It's the area, which we absolutely adore. -

We haven't had any problem finding houses or making offers. We HAVE had difficulty getting our offers accepted, even when they are fair, reasonable, near asking price offers. We are at a loss as to what course to plan now. We love our agent. She has been patient, helpful and hard working. We've become more flexible on what we want. It doesn't have to be a 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1800+ sq ft house with a two car garage and an outbuilding on a half acre lot. Ideally, we would like that but it's not necessary. We are going to take a break from house hunting. We've invested a lot of t -

The panhandle. We have thought about renting but decided a long term (year) lease just wouldn't work for us. Difficult to find anything with a shorter term lease. We've looked. Their housing market has not had the downside like metro Atlanta. That is a HUGE military area with at least a half dozen military facilities within 30 miles. It's also a popular area for military retirees in addition to all the active duty military and civilian employees from the different facilities. While the area has seen a significant decrease in prices, their market seems to be a bit more stable. -

As I said earlier, we are looking at any and all possibilities--preforeclosures, foreclosures, short sales, auctions, etc. Not a lot of problem finding houses, and good heavens we have certainly looked at enough of them! We've probably looked at close to 100 houses. Not viewed that many certainly but have driven by them, looked at the neighborhood, did tax research on them, etc. I am sure that one of our problems is that we NEED a house that needs little work. We're physically unable to do much more than paint and fiscally unable to hire much more than painting. We found one that ha -

Considering we started out $12,000 apart, to end up $3500 apart is not bad. And it is negligible when the seller would make DOUBLE what they paid for it, even at the price we offered. Yes, it is Florida. We're wanting to move to an area that is pretty much like where we live--Powder Springs--but with water, the beach a 20 minute drive and no personal income tax. So, there are attractions that we can't duplicate here. -

We do have a lot of factors that are narrowing our search but there are also few homes for sale in the area that even remotely meet those requirements. Our biggest factor is price. We are not able to go over our budget. Can't do it. We only have a limited amount of funds available. We're also not surprised that it taking this long. When we started looking we were expecting 4 or 5 years. We ARE frustrated that we keep making offers and losing out even when we are making GOOD offers. In this last one we were $3500 apart on price. That's negligible. We have relaxed our criteri -

I’m frustrated and at a loss at what to do next. Here’s the situation: hubby and I have been looking for a house for almost FIVE YEARS. Last year in April we FINALLY found one that was within our budget and we liked well enough to make an offer. It was a foreclosure, a Fannie Mae house, and it went to auction in June 2010. We were actually the high bidder. Excitement!! We were buying a house, almost four years after starting our search. Ten days later, we were notified that Fannie Mae would not be selling us the house because they didn’t have a clear title to it. Still don’t but t -
while a doctor should not prescribe medications for an addict, doing so should not automatically make that doctor guilty of a crime. He may have been under the impression that Jackson would use them as prescribed or would only use them if he (the doctor) administered them. He may have been in awe of Jackson and not been able to see the reality of the person. Doctors are human and subject to the same emotions as the rest of us. He may have been in denial about Jackson's drug addiction. Seems as though the family was, so why not the doctor. The only thing I can see the doctor was clea

I think he will be found innocent. I also believe he WAS innocent.

Wish I'd had a camera with me at Walmart the other day. I almost got sideswiped by a car turning the corner to park ILLEGALLY. They parked much like the day care van above--in the slashmarked area.

I did a big oh-oh about 10 or 12 years ago. I was a regular on a message board and *thought* I was sending an e-mail to one of the members about the problems we had with another member. Turned out I posted it on the public board! I apologized to the person it was about, she and I exchanged quite a few e-mail afterwards and all was well. She was certifiable and knew it. Didn't bother her a bit that I said so publically. And no, I'm not on there any longer. Not for that reason, though.

You might reply to the wrong person! I had been in contact, over a month ago, with a real estate agent in Florida requesting information about a particular house. She had given me a curt answer and didn't seem particularly helpful to boot. So, I got in touch with my regular agent about it. Made plans to go look at that one particular house, but with our regular agent. I get an e-mail this afternoon from the not-too-helpful agent asking if I had rescheduled my trip down there yet. In reality, we went the time period I had told her we were making the trip down. But we didn't look

I didn't do it. I swear **I** didn't do it.

 Brings back memories of the BMW or Audi or whatever it was that always took up two parking places where I used to work. *Somehow* one of the doors got kicked in one day and the guy never again took up two parking places. I disavow any knowledge of how that door got kicked in.

not terribly accurate as a couple of the prominently featured ones are not IN Paulding but NEAR Paulding.

My husband went to the Hindu temple just to talk to them a couple of years ago. They were very friendly, happy to talk to him and invited us to their service.

There is also a Hindu temple on Cooper Lake Road in Smyrna. Sorry, but I don't have the contact info. I did find this information that might be useful, though. http://www.religion.emory.edu/faculty/robbins/sites/SitesHindu.pdf

Thank you Eym-Sirius for posting this. Hubby and I hit a deer (or more correctly had a deer hit us) on Hiram Lithia Springs Road about 12 or 13 years ago. It messed up the front of the truck and killed the deer. We were fine thankfully. And you might see deer in neighborhoods as well as out in the woods. We saw one across the street from us a few days ago. IN A SUBDIVISION half a mile off 278.

How do I know if I have a static IP? I am really getting fed up with losing the connection and having to reboot my computer to get the connection back. I'm trying to work at home today and this is about enough to make me pull out my hair! I'm about ready to do this to AT&T:

YES!! That was the name of the place. I couldn't get that to come up. And before that, some chicken place.

On John Road (Street?) across from Paulding Hospital, behind what used to be Ray's Exxon.

I HATE the fall time change. Hate it, hate it, hate it. :angry2: Did I mention I hate it?
