One time my mom and my sister in law got together and bought several bushels of corn and green beans. They corralled me and my nephew into helping shuck and string. Our pay was being taken to the carnival and getting to ride as many of the rides as we wanted.

LOL. I have NO desire to learn to can. None whatsoever. I have always been claustrophobic. So much so in fact that I never cared for phone booths either.

where?

I'm a good deal younger than early 70s and the first deer that I recall ever seeing was well after I got married in 1978. WELL after, maybe the early to mid 1980s. Now, I see them at least weekly. Saw one dead on the side of the road going to Rockmart this morning.

I hated canning PERIOD. I was afraid that thing was gonna blow up and kill us all. Never minded the working in the garden, planting and picking. Didn't care for hoeing. Liked hoeing better than canning though. I STILL don't do canning. When we can stuff, hubby does it. I stay out of the kitchen and preferably out of the house.

We never had cows to milk, chickens to feed or hogs to slop but I had a couple of uncles with cows so I got to milk one. My grandmother's place had a smoke house but it had only been used as storage from the time I can remember. My grandmother had chickens and I would occasionally feed them. My mom always knew when I did because I would come home with my eyes swollen shut because I was highly allergic to feathers (still are in fact). My sister had hogs at one time and my niece and I would go feed our namesakes. We had a garden. Almost an acre and a half of garden. Always had plen

they could have been escorting football teams to the playoffs. And yes, I've seen that, too.

I LOVE the Craft Cottage. -
Not all of them were Mexican. At least not all the ones I saw out on 278 toward Rockmart. Most were young. Didn't see anyone with a torch but then again it's hard to look at things on the other side of the road from you when you're driving out in that area.

same here! -
They were VERY quiet today, even though I heard sirens about six different times. Really strange to hear them so often on a day where there isn't rain. We live just a 1/2 mile off 278 and we are used to hearing sirens on rainy days. Not like today. And all of these fire trucks (and presumably police cars and ambulances though we never saw any) were going AWAY from 278, not toward.

 I am not old enough for one of those yet. I'll show you my....... .................. .................. .................... .................. .................. .......... concealed carry permit. -
That's what I was using. Really difficult to hear very well on my laptop and they were unusually quiet today. About all I heard was Engine 23 was clear and that there was a fresh crew came on about an hour ago. I'm guessing that was the ladder truck I saw go by. I also heard something about a street off Mulberry in Austell. Better go see if my daughter texted me about that one.

Where did this happen? And please, those of you who drive through downtown Dallas, remember there is a speed limit and there is quite a bit of pedestrian traffic in town. I've almost gotten run over a couple of times there in front of the Craft Cottage on Main St and going to the parking lot next to the AT&T building.

Just saw two fire trucks heading toward Hiram Lithia Springs Rd from 278. Interesting since Station 6 is just around the corner from me on Hiram Lithia Springs Rd. Edited to add that there was apparently another fire truck that took Brownsville Road from 278. I'm trying to listen on the scanner fed on my laptop and it isn't coming through very well. Anyone know what's going on?

I live outside of Powder Springs, toward Austell, and do almost all of my shopping in Paulding. I haven't been to Arbor Place Mall in about 18 months and it's been YEARS since I went to Town Center. I think Bush, George H.W. not George W., was president the last time I went to Cumberland. Almost anything I want I can find in Paulding with the exception of Garden Ridge. I broke with tradition the other day and went to the Mableton K-Mart instead of the Hiram K-Mart. Wished I had gone to Hiram but the point was to buy the Christmas teddy bears, which I did. Those of you who live i -

as I pointed out earlier, a lot of franchises are actually locally & family owned. As for clothing store--Wearhouse Clothing is locally and independently owned. Anything Joe's is locally owned. Just look around at all the bakeries, etc. -

Incredible but true! -
You're right about buying them cheaper from a local store than through your ISP. I bought a much faster, newer router/modem from Best Buy for little more than half what AT&T wanted for one. My old one had lasted almost three years. I thought that was incredible!

we need a "like" button on here. Hug a small business owner! -
:yahoo: one confirmation that the listing will be removed. One down, about 99 more to go.

I know what you mean. Occasionally I will go online to check the house we tried to buy in June 2010 and find THAT listing--from March 2010. Absolutely crazy. I hate the run-around you get from these sites. "Click here to update or remove your listing" and then nothing happens. I went to one that said to enter the word you saw but it wouldn't give me one. One wanted to charge me for a membership in order to delete my "free" listing. One said they would not delete it because they got it from another source. And we were listed under at least three different categories NONE of which wer
