  1. It was not my intent to post O.C.G.A. nor to cover all possible instances of "crime". I really fail to see how an artist who had no intent to harm and a parent who consented to a tattoo AT THE REQUEST OF THE CHILD could be found to be guilty of a a crime. Nobody held a gun to the head of the child and forced him to get the tattoo, nor did anyone hold a gun to the head of the mom and force her to agree. Next thing you know, people who have their infant daughters ears pierced will be charged as criminals along with the Walmart ear piercer.
  2. I was unaware the law had changed. Still say it's bad parenting and not a criminal act. definition: criminal act Any crime, including an act, omission, or possession under the laws of the United States or a State or unit of general local government, which poses a substantial threat of personal injury, notwithstanding that by reason of age, insanity, intoxication or otherwise the person engaging in the act, omission, or possession was legally incapable of committing a crime. Granted, getting a tattoo could cause injury but if we really want to use the above definition for "criminal
  3. Criminal? Heck no. Using really poor judgment? Heck yes. Instead of prosecuting her, she needs to be sent to parenting classes. If it is only illegal to tattoo a minor without parental consent and his mom gave consent, why SHOULD the artist go to jail? Again, really poor judgment on the part of the mom but I don't see any of it as criminal.
  4. Just do like my daughter and I do--add the upcharge to the shelf price and then there are no surprises at the checkout. It's no different than going to any other grocery store where the shelf price doesn't match the price that rings up. Or there are no more sale items. Not defending Food Depot because I'm not a regular shopper but for many people, particularly in the southern Powder Springs or Austell area, there aren't a lot of other choices around. My daughter either has to get me to take her to the store or she has to walk to Food Depot. The Food Depot in Austell/Lithia Sprin
  5. We generally don't celebrate many holidays with gifts. Not even birthdays. We get what we want any time of the year, generally speaking, so the holidays just pass unnoticed to a large degree. In fact, we didn't realize that this past Monday was a holiday (not a gift giving occasion but still a holiday). Hoping that we can spend some time around Valentines Day at the beach.
  6. I really need a small, portable, inexpensive to buy and to operate printer. Prefer one that scans and one that is inkjet. It really needs to be lightweight and just barely big enough to print on regular size paper. Since I want it to be portable, it needs to be durable as well. Does not matter if it has memory card slots or not. Any photos I am likely to print I'll open and edit on the computer anyway. I currently have an HP 1350 (I think that's the model) and it's great. But it's a little bulky to haul in the car to the beach. Any suggestions?
  7. I buy a good deal of meat at Food Depot. Usually cheaper than Kroger and as good, if not better, than Ingles. Their prices on meat don't vary as much as Kroger or Publix. It is generally always the same price. In fact, I have some stew beef in my crockpot right now from Food Depot. It is big chunks of beef unlike the stew beef they tend to have at Kroger which is really small cubes. I generally avoid Kroger after school gets out for the day ANY day of the week. Wednesdays are not that bad at the one I go to unless there is something else drawing the people out. I guess the
  8. When did your daughter leave Wellstar??? She was so very nice and helpful when my daughter had her baby in 2008, just before your granddaughter was born.
  9. Anything Joes. On 61 at 278, across from the new Waffle House, Walgreens, etc. 770-485-9375
  10. You must HAVE done all that at an accelerated rate!! Congratulations! And as a CMA, you can work in doctor's office earning a little more than a non-CMA. If you like the hospital environment, there are so many different choices, too! BTW, I used to be a CMA and my middle daughter is now a CMA, studying to become an RN.
  11. You think Paulding is bass ackwards on this? I just got back from a trip to Florida where in the county we were staying in you can buy beer and wine any day of the week and have been able to for years, including Sunday, but until very recently you couldn't buy liquor ANY day of the week. This was actually the first trip we have seen "liquor" available down there other than by-the-drink at a restaurant or bar.
  12. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. I owned an Altima and tend to be very partial to Nissans, so I think the newer Altima. It has higher miles than the Altima one year older but 50k miles is barely broken in for a Nissan. Seriously. As someone mentioned, check Carfax but be sure to pay for the report, not the freebie version, or get it from the dealer and again the full version not the freebie. And if you're getting it from a dealer, BELIEVE NOTHING they tell you. Ooops. I see you got the Honda.
  13. Hi Mom!! You have done a great job on Steven. He is a pleasure to work with.
  14. Yes, turn the phone off but not because he is not using his money wisely. If there was an agreement that he pay you for it and he isn't, THAT is the reason you turn it off. What he does with his money is his business but he should take care of prior agreements FIRST.
  15. Martin's in Powder Springs. We're semi-regulars there. About a week ago my husband ordered the sausage gravy biscuit and asked them to make sure there was a lot of sausage in the gravy. Just a minute or so after we sat down, here came the cashier with a giant sausage patty for him. AT NO EXTRA CHARGE!
  16. The only "hold up" there would be in your unemployment is you have to be unemployed for a certain length of time to qualify. I think you have to be out of work for a week before you qualify. Even if Ingles didn't provide you with a separation notice, you can still file.
  17. In my husband's family in the span of 10 days we lost his nephew to a car wreck and his dad to an aneurysm. In our family, we had premature twins born, died and buried in the span of 11 days. We have both had depression and other serious mental illnesses in either ourselves, our children or our siblings. I lost my sister to congestive heart failure, my brother to auto accident, my dad to liver cancer, my mom to a stroke. My remaining sister is a breast cancer survivor. I have a genetic disorder that may have been linked to my dad's liver cancer, so I have that hanging over my
  18. We saw War of The Worlds somewhere in Douglasville. I guess it was at the mall. The week before that we saw The Passion of the Christ. Before that it was Independence Day. As you can tell, we don't go to the movies often. I can't sit still that long.
  19. LOL. Will do! The FB thing and the e-book are do-able. It's rare that I need to know where to go. Usually plenty of people willing to tell me. Seriously, hubby and I both have a great sense of direction.
  20. I remember the name of the last movie I went to see but I have no idea when I went.
  21. Google Nexxus One with T-Mobile service. Weather is a definite must for me. While house hunting, maps would be nice as would the Realtor.com app. Don't really have much need for some of those others. Not much of a shopper. But I'll keep in mind that about Kohl's because I do like going there. I'm thinking FB and e-mail along with maps and weather might be all I want or need. And maybe a planner app. I'm using VueMinder Calendar on my laptop. It would be great to have that on the phone, too.
  22. I really and truly suck at it but enjoy it very much. Got games going with several friends. I believe so.
