Douglasville Ace Hardware is obviously not a "newer" Ace Hardware Store but that's where I got my chip key made.
  3. Are you sure about that? Everything I read on their website says the federal is free to file but the state costs additional. And that additional is anything from $19.95 to over $30! And the free federal edition doesn't include additional schedules like C (self employed income), D, E or F. OK, I did see that the state filing is free if you qualify by having either less than $31,000 AGI, being active duty military with an AGI of less than $57,000 or if you qualify for EIC. And now I am REALLY upset with my daughter and SIL for paying someone to file their return!!!
  4. Remember, just e-filing the federal is the only free one. You have to pay for the state. I used TaxCut when I did my daughter and son in law's return last year. I really think almost any of them are going to get the same answer/refund. And almost all of them will file the federal for free. Edited to add, I'm using TaxCut myself this year (sorry Barbed Wire). I went ahead and got a paid edition since I had a corporate return to do as well. I could buy the corporate federal and state and the deluxe 1040 for considerably less than I could have them prepared and I can do them if I hav
  5. since we didn't get a brochure at any time, anyone have any idea where I can find one?
  6. Maybe this will help you: https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/investigations/MailFraud/fraudschemes/othertypes/UnsolicitedFraud.aspx A company sends you a gift in the mail--a ball point pen, a key chain, a tie. But you didn't order it. What do you do? If you are the type of person this company is looking for, you may feel guilty about accepting the item without paying for it. Don't feel guilty! It's yours, and you are under no obligation to pay anything. You, the consumer, may only legally be sent two types of merchandise through the mail without your consent or agreement:
  7. So very true! True story. I worked for a short time for a man who believed in being armed. In fact, I've talked about him before on here. Anyway, he was in his office one evening after everyone else had left for the day. He saw a man getting out of a car in the parking lot. Obviously not an employee (believe me, the man KNEW each and every one of his employees). He reached in his desk drawer and removed his .357. He heard the lock on the door open, heard the door close. About the time the intruder got to my friend's office door he came face to face with a .357. Needless to say,
  8. I guess that would screw up the system!! We didn't get a pamphlet either when/where we applied or with our permits. I heard that it was open. Haven't been to Smyrna in a month of Sundays to know first-hand though. Maybe I can remember to drive by there on Friday when I go to the doctor. Or more exact, maybe I can remember to ask HUBBY to drive by there on Friday when he GOES to the doctor with me.
  9. No ranges in Paulding that I know of, but Stoddards is in Douglasville, not far off 92 where it comes into Douglasville and Wild West is on Austell Road, near Windy Hill. Don't know about Stoddards but Wild West has ladies day. Supposedly there is soon going to be a range right off 278 at the Cobb/Paulding line. I have doubts about that though since I went by there yesterday and it looked like the property was for sale. I was sure looking forward to a range that close to home.
  10. I go to Dr. Jason Vaughn. He's awesome! Can't say what he charges for new patients because I've been going to him for a long time. He's very reasonable. PM me for his contact info. Also, LPPT's husband Frank is a chiropractor. I'm sure you could contact her and she would give you his contact info. So would I, though.
  11. we didn't get ANYTHING when we got our permits, except the permits.
  12. I think all of us would rather there be no firearms allowed in public places but then again criminals don't care about the law. I'll tell you one thing for certain, I felt SAFER at the barbecue place AFTER seeing the two or three guys come in with their sidearms than I did BEFORE they came in. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Ironically, a friend of mine who was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty had that bumper sticker on his car. He believed it with all his heart. So do I. It wasn't a GUN that killed him. It was a criminal who made a career of crime and

If it's an older one, yes, I agree. Cars since about 1996 require them. That's according to Acura. I sure wish I had found one for my Altima for $2.

A CHIP key for $1.99?? Nope, I don't think so. A regular key runs between $1.49 and $2.49 at Home Depot. Chip keys run from around $50 to several hundred. found this about Acuras If you need an Acura replacement key, you cannot have one made at the local hardware store. Acura replacement remotes and keys must be purchased from the manufacturer or from an online resource who specializes in reprogramming and selling necessary items for Acura keyless entry. An Acura chip key can only be purchased from one of these vendors or from Acura.

I got one for my Altima at Home Depot. Worked great for the doors and the trunk! Not so much for the ignition. Maybe when I go to Home Depot next time I can remember to get one made. I really would hate to get locked out of the car in LA. At a convenience store frequented by truck drivers, especially.

I was going to say the Ace Hardware in Douglasville does chip keys. I think mine was less than $75 (it's been a couple of years and I don't remember exactly how much). I couldn't have bought the blank off the Internet and had a local locksmith make it cheaper than I paid at Ace. And it worked just great! Thinking of getting a spare key just to unlock the doors of my car. Car has a nasty habit of locking the doors anytime you open and close the trunk. I'd hate to get stranded in Evergreen, AL because hubby tossed the key in the console and then the doors locked. That *almost* happened
  17. according to this link: http://opencarry.org/ga.html one needs a permit to carry openly. The exception to this being your vehicle. I've been in Wallace Barbecue on numerous occasions and have seen people carrying sidearms. I just figured they worked on Fulton Industrial and were up in Austell for lunch. BTW, guns do not kill people. People kill people.
  18. go here: http://www.taxact.com/products/all_efcycle.asp You can tell when you should receive your refund based on when the return was accepted and how you are getting your refund (direct deposit or check).
  19. Really? Mine is well kept and we all help each other out when needed. No HOA here. And nobody wants one!
  20. We told our real estate agent in no uncertain terms that we would not even LOOK at a house in a HOA area. Been there, done that and won't do it again. And that was an HOA where we didn't even live. We just owned property there!
  21. Hugs to you NY Gal. I know how difficult it is to get over the death of a sister. Very ironic about their birthdates and dates of death. We expected Ray to be with us a few more weeks. He lasted a lot longer than the doctors originally gave him almost a year ago, when they gave him just WEEKS to live. He was a fighter.
  22. Ray had been my next door neighbor for over 11 years. He will be missed. My sympathies to the family.
  23. We're looking not far from where you're from--a little bit west of there, in Santa Rosa County.
  24. Unfortunately, much of the Atlanta area is "declining". BTW, I live in West Cobb, just off Highway 278 and about 5 miles north of I-20. We have two foreclosures for sale in our neighborhood. It's an older, established neighborhood. We have two sections of our street--one being the original section built in the mid-1970s and the other section built around 2006. Almost everyone on our section of the street (the old section) has been here since the late 1970s. We have all done a good job of keeping up the neighborhood and the new houses look nice as well. And if you asked nicely,
