  1. Only thing that bumper had wrong was the tag was bent where hubby hooked a cable to drag off a camper cover and bent the tag. And that truck thought it was a four wheel drive. Oh, it was the passenger front quarter panel that was messed up. Dang deer! Ran into us.
  2. I personally believe that a lack of attraction to or from your marriage partner is indicative of a much larger problem. If it's a physical problem, deal with it on a medical level. If it's a lack of desire for any other reason AND the partner who lost interest isn't willing to work toward resolving it, then yes, anyone deserves better than that. My friend I mentioned earlier deserves so much better than a husband who is a friend to her and nothing else. She has such a big heart, wicked/bawdy sense of humor and tons of love to give. His lack of attraction to her is indicative of HIS pro
  3. Stop trying to play the games on FB and read Pcom at the same time. Well, that seems to be why mine keeps freezing up. I just wish AT&T would stop working on the DSL so I would be able to stop having to restart my computer to re-establish connection.
  4. we really didn't want to trade it but the offer on it was too good to pass up. And it ran absolutely wonderful! That's why we hated to get rid of it. We didn't need four vehicles for two people. Yep, one set of brakes. Hubby always says that he uses the "go" a lot more than he uses the "stop". The thing is, they weren't worn very much when he changed them. Just decided that he best do it. We hated to get rid of the truck. Most reliable vehicle we ever owned. That's the reason we just bought a 1993 Nissan pick up that looks like our other one's little brother.
  5. Yep, you can buy in Hiram on Sunday. I did!!
  6. Absolutely!! My husband never looked more attractive to me than when he stood by our daughter as she buried the second twin. Though he was pretty hot looking rolling around on the floor with our granddaughter, who was 20 months old at the time. They were both laughing and having a good time.
  7. We had a 1990 Nissan hardbody that we bought new in 1990. When we TRADED it in on the Kia I drive, in January 2010, it had almost 270,000 miles on it. Only things ever done to that truck were tires, oil, a battery (or two), brakes (once) and a hose. It ran as good the day we traded it as the day we bought it. Hated to trade it in but they were giving us an unbelievable amount for it. We also had a 2000 Ford F250. We traded that in when we bought hubby's Sky in 2008. It had something around 84,000 miles on it. A strange twist of fate caused us to meet up with the guy who bought it fr
  8. Hubby and I saw a Datsun truck around town yesterday. When did they start putting Nissan on them? BTW, we got a "new" vehicle. 1993 Nissan pickup. Found out that we really needed a truck and missed our 1990 Nissan pickup. This truck is almost the same but with power steering instead of armstrong steering and it's white instead of red. Otherwise, it was like getting in our old truck. And at first sight.
  9. I wouldn't say the state mismanaged their funds as much as the unusually high unemployment depleted the funds quickly.
  10. My idea of a "white Christmas" is white sand beaches. Maybe next year.
  11. Hubby had a subcontractor (actually a subcontractor for a subcontractor) who had a business management degree from some prestigious university. He never could figure out what the heck was going on for HIM to have a business management degree and doing work for not one but two people who only finished high school. He said many times that what hubby and guy who was subleasing space from us were doing was IMPOSSIBLE because he learned in college that it was impossible. But yet, they were doing it. "It" being operating successful businesses without a business management degree.
  12. Just buying for the grandbabies, daughter and SIL. Nothing fancy for daughter and SIL but pretty much providing Christmas for the little ones since SIL is out of a job right now. Hubby and I will celebrate about three weeks after Christmas with a delayed Christmas gift to ourselves.
  13. You're so right that once you open your own business that your eyes are opened. What an education! Having been in the tax and accounting business since 1995, it never ceases to amaze me at what people think about running a small business. I don't remember where we were recently but hubby and I were told by someone that you could do something in particular if you had a small business. I don't even remember now what they said. I do remember that once they walked off, I looked at my husband and said "if you did what they suggest, you'd get thrown in jail for tax evasion". We were both
  14. You're right. It is going to hurt a lot of people and not just those who draw unemployment or those who pay it. It will hurt everyone in some way.
  15. It is a payroll tax. It's a tax paid by the employer. Just another payroll expense, like wages.
  16. Hubby and I actually started talking on New Year's Day about getting married. But it was "by the end of the year". Imagine my surprise and delight when he came over on a Sunday evening in early March, put his arms around me and said "when are you moving in with me". I told him he knew I wasn't moving in until we got married. He said "ok, when do you want to get married?" Right there in my mom's kitchen, next to the dryer, he asked me to marry him. Two days later he shows up at my office and makes a huge presentation of slipping on my finger my brand new, never seen by me engagement ring.
  17. I don't understand three things about this. #1--why the feds reduced the unemployment tax rate during a time of high unemployment. That really doesn't have anything to do with the state having to repay what they borrowed but it does make you wonder why it happened. #2--why the state borrowed money and planned to pay it back with money it didn't have. #3--how an increase of $21 is DOUBLE $42. Nobody has answered that question sufficiently. Granted, in 2013 the rate will be doubled over what it is now.
  18. I work with several small companies. One has two employees, one has five and several don't have any. The one with five employees (sometimes as many as seven) is struggling to keep the doors open. They just got hit with $105 more in unemployment tax. That's not a lot unless you're barely keeping the doors open anyway. It just might be the last straw for them. I sure hope not but it might. If they get hit with price increases on their materials or supplies, they will be gone. Of that I'm sure.
  19. I think you hit the nail on the head. It just frustrates and angers me to think that HE is the one buying her food so she has to eat what he brings her. IF he really wanted her healthy, which she isn't, he would start bringing her decent food. A shrink would have a lifetime job just figuring out her mental and emotional condition. I love her to pieces but stopped trying to figure out her personal life years ago. I personally think he uses her as an excuse not to socialize with anyone he doesn't want to, uses her weight as an excuse not to get intimate with her and uses the who
  20. But the PEOPLE, the unemployed, were demanding that the unemployment be paid to them. What was Georgia supposed to do FOR the unemployed? Tell them "sorry, but we aren't willing to borrow the money from the feds in order to pay your unemployment". And this is an increase in the FEDERAL unemployment tax, not the state. It is to repay what the state borrowed to pay out unemployment benefits. Thank heaven they did because I drew unemployment. I wholeheartedly agree that it is screwing the SMALL business owner, as well as the big corporations. But why didn't the STATE repay that loan
  21. My dearest and best friend falls in this category. She doesn't work and hasn't since the early 1990s. They had no kids, so she just sits at home and eats. She is no longer able to get out to do grocery shopping, not that she did much when she was able to go. She eats whatever her husband buys which is generally high fat, high calorie junk food and take out. They have a kitchen but I doubt it's been used for anything in the past five years except to make milk shakes and icees. He doesn't want her to color her hair and doesn't seem to care that she weighs in excess of 325 pounds. And neit
  22. I agree with you. Just stating a fact.

  24. Unemployment tax is a tax on employERS not employEES. I don't know about other states, but Georgia employers cannot collect that from the employees. It is paid on their behalf.
  25. I thought everyone wanted big business to finance everything and punish them for their success. Here's that chance. Well, not *everything*, just the loan that the state took out to pay benefits to the unemployed. Not such a big ding to a business that only employs ten people. But the companies that employ more than 1000 will really feel it! Ten employees will mean your federal unemployment tax goes up $210 A YEAR. One thousand employees mean your federal unemployment tax goes up $21,000 a year. Granted, $210 a year would hurt a struggling small business but $21,000 could hurt a
