Where do you get your Medicare prescriptions filled
onekidmom replied to Cathyhelms's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I should have posted the update on that: The House approved the Medicare extension bill on March 17. However, the Senate failed to pass the legislation before adjourning for a two-week recess on March 26, which permitted the 21 percent pay cut to take effect on April 1. CMS, however, instructed its contractors to hold payments for services delivered after April 1 for 10 business days, or until April 14, with the expectation that Congress would reverse the cut before it actually took effect. The measure providing a payment patch through April 30 is expected to pass, Burke said, sho -

A good friend of mine who lives in Colorado just sent me this today: My link -
So, does anyone want to buy Madea tickets? Trying to find the closest/cheapest hotel to the base now. Her hubby is military.
-
Well, just hung up from my Goddaughter in Florida. They are inducing labor tomorrow. She wants me there (estranged from her mom - her dad is out of state on business). Problem - I've waited soooooo long to see Madea in person. I've had these tickets since the day they went on sale. This Saturday - 3 p.m. - at the Fox. Total for two tickets with all fees - $171.70. That would cover my hotel expenses while there. I don't want to tell her no. I said I could leave Saturday night and drive down, but she really wants me there earlier. I'm soooo torn. I have no clue as to whether I could se

Where do you get your Medicare prescriptions filled

great post, GAMUDRIDER! I worked in medical billing/insurance focusing on Medicare/Medicaid. What is being lost on most is that Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement to the doctors/pharmacies isn't immediate - usually 120 days before payment - and isn't much money towards actual costs. We have a health savings account now and when I get a new prescription, I take the time to call the 3 drug stores closest to my home, tell them my insurance company and then see what my "out of pocket" is (which is the savings account side of the HSA) and I will go to the one that is the cheapest for t -

Contact the manufacturer of these prescriptions - you may be able to qualify for assistance for your mother. Also, there are prescription assistance programs. -
Where do you get your Medicare prescriptions filled

I handle my parents Medicare/AARP. Right now, all prescriptions are filled at Publix. Easier because Mom prefers to buy groceries there. However, their primary doctor (in Cobb) sent a letter saying they would not be accepting any new Medicare patients effective April 1, 2010 and would no longer accept Medicare effective June 1, 2011. They stopped seeing Medicaid, Peachcare & some wellness thing over the last 12 months or so. We're already asking around so that we can find someone that my parents are comfortable with. I spoke at length with the office manager. She basically said that -
Wondering how early we will need to leave to get to the Fox to see Madea. I've looked forward to this for months - since I bought the tickets. Then, watched the news tonight and am just bummed!

Hey, thought about you today as I went thru Kennesaw.....Have you checked this out? http://www.hillmanor.com/specialevents http://www.grandeevent.com/ http://www.unitycc.com/weddings.htm Guess I have the wedding bug - my niece is getting married the first Saturday in June and I just gave the bridal shower for the family.

I have no idea of how much Cedar Plantation charges, but, its a full service wedding/reception. I've been to several outdoor weddings at the old victorians in Cartersville & Marietta and nothing compared to the back area/gazebo at Cedar Plantation - good luck! I noticed online has a virtual tour of the place.
-
Have you checked Cedar Plantation in Acworth? I attended a wedding there last spring and it was lovely. http://www.weddingsatlanta.org/ Also, went to a reception at the Murray Arts Center (part of Mt. Paran schools campus) and it was beautiful also....they have weddings there, too. http://www.mtparanschool.com/main.php?s=mac&p=macforms

When my uncle was found dead in bed - he was divorced and lived alone - died of a heart attack in his sleep - since he was close by and my moms favorite, we were at the home at almost the same time as the police (called by a neighbor who was checking on him). When the coroner came, the were very respectful of everyone and were extremely professional. They closed the bedroom door and then wheeled him out on a gurney. He was in a bag - I assume - as all we could see was a white sheet. Everyone who arrived were quiet, respectful and most uttered words of sympathy to my mom and her sister who

Why are we becoming a society of pill poppers?
onekidmom replied to onekidmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I would never "group" you. I would pray that no one would. Nothing in my original post or any of my other posts "group" or "bash" those that NEED medications for chronic pain. I'm glad there is something that can ease that pain for those people. I am from a very large extended family. I am being personally affected by pain med addictions in my family. I'm watching what it does to people - to their lives, kids, spouse, careers. I see these addicts with their friends who are addicts. I see how they are playing the system. I will be attending another large family reunion soon and will -
Why are we becoming a society of pill poppers?
onekidmom replied to onekidmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
So - many of us have known, currently know or have been personally affected (family member/close friend) using prescription drugs in a way not prescribed. Is there anything that can be done? Why are these drugs so much more addictive than in the past? Since this "sweeping healthcare reform" (which is already producing major scams) - shouldn't we push for drug testing for welfare recipients _ maybe push for drug screenings a the normal thing prior to receiving a refill script for pain meds??? What's your thoughts? -
CNN Story Excerpt: "There's no test for pain," Greene said. "The only thing we have to go on is what they tell us, and I generally believe my patients. But most people who are going to lie to you are much better liars than you are at detecting." One of those patients who Greene says fooled him was a 79-year-old grandmother who was selling her pills out of her nursing home. If the patient is an addict, doctors refuse them at their own peril. In December, a man came into Dr. Dennis Sandlin's rural clinic in Perry County, Kentucky, looking for a prescription. Sandlin demanded that he

College is not a "right" - it is a privilege for those who work hard - regardless of income. I hope that since you aren't having to "pay to go to college except for your books" that you are going into a field that gives back or that you come to realize that nothing is "free" - the money comes from somewhere. What if you lived in another state where the lottery didn't fund opportunities for college?
-
With that time of drive/determination/ambition - you won't be considered low income for long. Congrats to you hubby...... Great Post!!

I have a fried who works at one of the offices.....her caseload is phenomenal & the required paperwork is incredible AND of course, it's sensitive info, so she can't take it home to work on it. The computers are outdated & slow.....I know her - she does the best she can and she loves working for the people - but with the resources/demands/requirements for her gov'ment job and the increased traffic - she says there is no way to see everyone. And, she is NOT looking forward to the future when the state rolls are increased. The healthcare bill has nothing in it to hire more workers to

And we wonder where the drugs come from! Entire article: MDJ Story excerpt: According to the Complaint for Forfeiture issued by the U.S. District Court in south Florida on March 3, the brothers established their Pain Express business on Jan. 22, 2008, and made more than $14 million in cash deposits to various banks in 2009 alone. The forfeiture also stated that the clinics' doctors were being paid between $861,000 to $1.2 million a year. It states that one of the doctors told an undercover investigator that people from Kentucky, Ohio and South Carolina were traveling to the
