Head football coaches at BCS schools make a lot of money, and they are expected to recruit, manage, and train the team. If they don't do that consistently, (i.e., they don't do their jobs), they often get fired. The word "consistently" in the context of this discussion varies from school to school. For instance, a school like, say, UNC, will support a coach if he runs a clean program and "competes" in the conference 6 or 7 times in a decade. At Alabama, the coach is expected to win, period. ANY loss is a real black eye, and the school is not as forgiving as most other schools. The same c

I'm looking for a trash service that offers recycling
ppearce1 replied to Olive Oyl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Allwaste offers this service, and the customer service there is great. 678-402-7777. -
Chin Chin has good food, sit down with linens, good service, I can't find anything wrong with them. A bit pricey. I don't eat at Chinese buffets anymore. After two strikes at two different buffets (with food that was ok), I tried yet a third. No more. PANDA GARDEN, in the Kroger shopping center at 278 and 61 (where QT, Zaxby's, etc. are located), is the absolute best take out I have ever had. I go there a minimum once a week. Why so good? Clean. Clean. Clean. Fresh food. Tasty food. Varied menu. Food is hot. (to touch, not to mouth) Best rice in town. Friendly service. Large

I switched mine about 3 months ago to Allwaste, and I couldn't be happier. On time. Current website. Locally owned and operated. Reasonable fees. Recycling available. If you call their office, they either pick up or call back within an hour or two. You can actually talk to the owner, who is a reasonable person. DISCLAIMER: I have no financial interest in this company, nor do I personally know any of its owners or employees. It's just a well run service which does what it says. Allwaste: 678-402-7777

Some things I can't get at Publix, I go to Kroakers for. Some things I go to Food Lion for (e.g., salt free potato chips). I have been to the Aldi in Kennesaw, Smyrna, and Douglasville, and there are some things there I'd rather have. Their "healthy soup" is delicious, and less expensive. They have a nice selection of chocolates. And frozen foods that I like a lot, and I'm kind of a picky eater. Great prices. But how do they offer such low prices? hmmm....lower overhead, which means not so many cashiers. You rent a cart for a quarter, but they have MUCH less cart losses than other sto

Questions about Casey Anthony's defense strategy
ppearce1 replied to baseballmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
George Anthony is guilty as sin, and those are crocodile tears; his wife shares some of the guilt. It's pretty obvious, if you remove the ever-present conspicuous on-demand displays of emotion, that this dysfunctional family is dominated by a conniving father and a manipulative mother. He doth protest too much. He rules by coercion, she by guilt. Baez has the media and the court against him. Lee Ashton is a pompous horse's ass who is full of himself. Perry, who garners the admiration of his peers in the judicial set, is an ex-procecutor who seems definitely biased for the plaintiff. -
I must have missed this, was probably on here. It looks like it could be an assisted living center, or something like that. They've been building on that thing for months. Lots of wood. Anyone know?

Thailand would be a wonderful choice. Friendly people; wonderful food; chance to experience a culture (Asian) with an entirely different world view than the West; lots of bargains, lots of opportunities for shopping, esp. gold and star sapphires, but also bronzeware, parasols, etc.; friendly people; variety of geographies within a relatively close distance to one another (beach, jungle, mountains, plains); easy to avoid trouble by using common sense. Did I mention that the people are very friendly, in the best sense of that word? First time visitors are sometimes put off by odors, esp in Ba

This has nothing to do with grammar. It's about spelling.

I'm with you. If you don't want a speeding ticket...don't speed. Pretty simple. If you need to get to where you're going sooner...leave earlier. It IS a difficult concept to comprehend...I'm just sayin'.

We used to have the same problem, esp. with bananas. Now we wash (rinse) any fruit that doesn't go into the fridge. We use a brush on cantaloupes, but not on bananas. Just rinse them thoroughly. The little flying gnats or whatever never show up.

It's ALL touristy. Well, there are schools, and such, but I would bet that Venice relies on tourism more than any other city in the world. Orlando might beat it out for that honor, but it'd be close. Oh, I almost forgot. I should have put this Number one on my list. Get a copy of Rick Steves' "Venice 2011" guidebook. Now! It'll set you back $18 and save you more than that, plus it will get you to places you would never have heard of. But you have to read it once you get it. It's the only guidebook you'll need in Venice. You can buy it now online, but Borders or some of the others m

Advice: 1 - Make sure you have hotel reservations before you arrive, and make sure you understand the cost in USD. 2 - Be prepared for small rooms, unless you are traveling on a large budget. 3 - Check weather - especially tides - for when you will be there. Acqua Alta (flooding of streets, etc) is a common occurrence there, although when I went for 3 days I fortunately missed it. It is a problem if you let it become one. Waders are available for sale. Just be aware that you might experience it and you might not. It's most prevalent in the winter months, and through March. 4 - Go t

As a longtime member in good standing of the Lexicographic Irregulars, I congratulate you on your interest in all things grammar. In doing so, however, I am impelled to gently remind you that an ellipsis consists of three dots (or full stops), and that when indicating a pause, as your usage here indicates, it should be preceded and followed with a space. I wish you the best in your persistent efforts to police our wonderful language.

Got a printer with color and BW cartridges?
ppearce1 replied to FixionWriter's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Great tip. And to save ink $, try this: http://www.preton.com/ I downloaded this a month ago and it works as advertised. No malware/junkware. It just reduces the amount of ink (user controlled) that is dipersed by your inkjet printer. -
