  1. I was given up for adoption at two months old. I found my maternal side of my family and am absolutely BLESSED because of it. I know not everyone is as lucky as I am. But you never know until you try. I can't think of anything worse than having regrets in life. Best of luck in the search!
  2. Probably so he can say he tried to find him and have no regrets. Honestly, FB is probably one of the best ways...as long as he is prepared for rejection.
  3. They also get drunk, pee in my trashcan and don't bother to tell me. I can't wait to mail the can to him in Afghanistan
  4. When I went to Hawaii, it was impossible to find any souvenirs made in America (let alone HI). I finally ended up buying an incredible photo by a local surfer. It was actualy pathetic to see so many people buying crap made in China, Taiwan, and the Phillipines. But I do buy a lot of things for my house from other countries simply because they are different and unique.
  5. I once got drunk and ate pork, during Ramadan while overlooking a party of 300 muslims breaking their daily fast on the shores of the Persian Gulf in Kuwait City. I was skeered
  6. I liked Tucci's as well. It's fun to drop in there once in awhile because they always have new and unique items. I recently furnished a new house and most of the furniture stores around here are hit and miss. Macy's has some great deals in their clearance area and "The Dump" in Atlanta was pretty good as well. I also bought a lot of key pieces from West Elm/Pottery Barn. Not exactly quality but I love the look. If you want antique items, try the Auction place on 41 near Third Army/Black Acre. Also the Big Shanty near the old Cowboys. There's one other large, antique place just N
  7. Sorry but I'm not paying hundreds of dollars to pay a brush company to take care of it when we can burn it for free.
  8. There are more than enough rednecks up north as well.
  9. What's the name of this place and approximately where off Cobb Pkwy is it located?
  10. yup! People in general get too offended wayyyyyy too easily. Live a little people. Geez. It must suck to walk around with yer skivvies wedged so far up yer butt that you get heartburn trademarked by Hanes.
  11. Also, watch for petty theft. We bring a long, cable, combination bike lock with us. When you park your vehicle (especially an SUV with back window), run the cable through ALL your suitcases. That way if they break the back window to snatch the cases, they won't be able to take them. A broken window is better than missing belongings. It's a very safe country, but tourists are prime victims for petty thefts.
  12. Been there more times than I count. It's my home away from home. Try their national dish, "Gallo Pinto" at a few different places and definitely their casados. Stop anywhere that says, "soda" (translates to restaraunt roughly). You'll have the best, home cooked, traditional Tico food for a price you won't believe. Their food is not spicy, AT ALL. It's just good, down to earth, real food. I crave it ALL. THE. TIME. If the restaraunt menu is all English, you'll pay way more than the locals would. The Ticos are WONDERFUL people who run on their own time and are very proud of their country.
  13. I had to make the Ropa Vieja on the stovetop instead of crock pot and it turned out GREAT! It's a little more time consuming than the crock but still very good. I think I may try those cheddar biscuits tonight, they look yummy!
  14. I LOVE this site http://www.skinnytaste.com/ Last night I made he chicken Ropa Vieja and it was INCREDIBLE! The night before I made the Seasoned fries with Garlic Aioli and made Tuna Melts.
  15. We asked $250 but ended up with a renter who has no pets.
  16. Melatonin really works. I've used it for long flights and jet lag at the recommendation of my doctor. Melatonin is what the body uses to regulate your sleep cycle, so it's not the same as taking a prescription medication. I never noticed a hungover or dopey feeling when taking 5mg. It's definitely worth trying. You can get it in the vitamin aisle at CVS, WalMart, etc.
  17. Did you try Ambien? I can't sleep but it's Prednisone-induced insomnia, so my Doc gave me Ambien. Works like a champ. Hope you find a solution, quickly.
  18. We had two new energy efficient units installed by Ragsdale last summer. In a few years, with the energy savings, they will have paid themselves off. Our A/C bills went from $400 to $150 but the sizes of the units doubled in size. Sooooooo glad we did it!
  19. They are the best! And yes, definitely sign up for their maintenance plan...well worth it. I always make sure to fill out their surveys after a service call. Their techs (and Derek too) are great and I want to make sure they get the recognition. I'll never use any other company
  20. I'm sure the loved one's of someone with mental illness feels very "enlightened" and comforted by this article
  21. The kid who does my manicures told me he wants to join the Army because the Marines "yell at you and make you shoot people." He scored just high enough on the ASVAB for Infantry. I gave up trying to explain "infantry" to him. I figured that is what his parents and recruiter are there for. Pffft. And that's not a knock on grunts. My husband was an infantry Marine for 27 years.
  22. I don't do buffets period. But Chinese buffets scare me even more than the average cesspool buffet.
  23. Just an FYI regarding rice. I never eat at a buffet because you have no idea how long the rice has been sitting there. Yuck! http://healthmad.com/conditions-and-diseases/reheating-rice-could-make-you-sick/
  24. That's not always true. Unfortunately,I have seen marriages fall apart because the servicemember refuses any help. You CANNOT force them. Even the military cannot FORCE them to get better. It's sad to see what PTSD does to people, but unless the servicemember wants to gt help, there is little than can be done. One friend (who's husband was famously awarded a prestigious medal) tried everything yet in the end, she was powerless to help her husband. Too sad to watch.
