LOL! My husband's chaplain had them take a test about the "5 Love Languages". When DH sent me home the test and asked me to take it, I REALLY thought he was off his rocker. -
I couldn't stand paying the crappy mortgage company $6,000 a year for the privilege of borrowing their money to own a home. THAT is why we paid it off ASAP. We also never got the elusive "tax breaks" of owning a home that I heard so much about so paying 6k a year was stupid. I remember the day I paid it off (5 years into a 30 year). I called my Mom crying like a little baby. It's a relief knowing that NO ONE can take your home away, regardless of what happens later in life. That house is now a rental anyway, so it's actually generating income instead of costing me. Last year I put

we ALWAYS use Limos at Your Service Atlanta (Mark Holness) for all our limo rides to the airport and also for Girls Night Out trips. He can get you just about anything as far as vehicles. He is an awesome guy who cares about his job. We have used him for at least 40 roundtrips to the airport and he has never, ever been late. PM me for his contact info because I don't think I can put his info on PCom.

We do. I want to do all my traveling, adventuring, and enjoying life while I'm still physically able. It makes me so sad to see elderly people barely able to enjoy their vacations. They probably worked all their life for it and can hardly walk, let alone zipline over the rainforest. But that's just me. I know some people who will always scrimp and save and never truly enjoy what they have.

Say wha? -
Congrats! It sure is an excellent feeling. But I wonder if you had a problem making the last payment. My mortgage company (Citibank) made it virtually impossible to get the pay off amount, then I had to jump through hoops to send it, and then they would not tell me if they received it. They were HORRIBLE. But in the end, I paid it off. Not bad to have a paid off house by the time I hit 30 Congratulations again, I know it's not easy.

Nothing says "I love you" like white, vinyl lettering.

Was just at my doc today. Salesperson came in, asked if he needed samples, left quite a few and then left. Glad he did because I walked out with plenty of those samples and don't have to go to CVS and pay for them. I'm very thankful he sees them because I know he helps out a lot of people financially by giving them the free samples. Edited to add...and no, my Doc is not on this list. I can't imagine him ever taking money from a drug company.

Sad thing is that the same crap happens here in the US everyday. I hope she recovers quickly. -
A chihuahua was snatched up by a hawk at the dog park. I'd have a friggin' coronary.

Am I the only gal on Pcom that doesn't like Valentines day?
justgettingby replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
So true! I have wonderful childhood memories and incredible and also heart breaking young adult memories of Valentine's Day. I wouldn't trade those for the world! Remember how important it was to receive the most Valentine's Day cards in grade school? I'll admit that one year while DH was in Afghanistan, I found the cheesiest childish VDay cards I could and sent them to him with some errr, ummm, more "adult' messages included. It was fun making those -

The only thing I like about VDay is laughing at all the ridiculous commercials. I'd have my DH committed if he bought me a cheesy teddy bear or some hoodie footie pajamas. He takes care of my wants and needs everyday (see the $1200 mirror purchase post). I feel bad for people who only get one day a year to feel or show love. I do like February 15th for the 50% off chocolate -
The bad part is that I really don't like that mirror all that much afterall. Guess I better grow to love the friggin' thing.

Ewww, crusty ketchup bottles are just as disgusting. Or crumbs in the butter and remnants of jelly left in the peanut butter jar.

Ladies, when you ask your man to hang a 35lb mirror (or anything heavy for that matter) make sure the main electrical panel box is not located DIRECTLY behind it. That $120 mirror I wanted him to hang in my dining room just cost us $1,220! Thankfully he didn't electrocute himself

This is at the top of my list of places to visit. The flights to Kiev are fairy inexpensive ad the tours are as well. I just have to find someone willing to go with me. Husband says, "no thanks." I want to see the Red Forest sooooooo bad!

For some people it would make sense to sell their current house at a loss. Buy another house for an incredible deal and you'd make up the difference and have equity in the new house. But that will only work for those who have a decent downpayment, good credit, etc. In fact, I read about people doing this recently in the AJC. We made out quite well in this housing market, thankfully.

I've seen quite a few houses in this county that look like it from the outside. I'm often in awe of the amount of trash people can collect on their front porches.

There's a toilet on the side of the road by Pitner Rd Dog Park. Guess it's a rest stop for humans.

That has happened to me more times than I can count. It's rather unnerving watching a vehicle come at you head on.
