  1. We use projectfree.tv and tvpc.com for live events. It takes some getting used to x'ing out ads, etc. But once you get the hang of it, it's like watching regular tv. We also used it to watch new episodes of Dexter, Homeland, Breaking Bad, and Fox News. We use it outside the US as well. Just taught an 85 year old ex-pat in Costa Rica how to navigate the two sites today with no problem.
  2. Why go into debt if you already have a vehicle that works just fine?
  3. At least let them try first. Now the poor kid is national news.
  4. I just saw this story on the main Yahoo page. Why not laugh it off and move on? I can't believe his Mom made it national news. Go to the school, let them know and handle it internally. Why go to the news?!?
  5. Never had that problem. The annoying thing is that you have to close out the advertising on the bottom of the screen. Sometimes they are sneaky with their placement of the "x's". We are watching Fox News right now via TVPC. Can't even tell it's not cable. I find Justin.tv online instead of Roku to be more useful. Sometimes some of the "channels" on Justin are not Roku compatible.
  6. Try Justin.tv or TVPC.com. We watched all the football games using those channels. But for TVPC you need to hookup a laptop via RGB cable. We also watch Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter and Homeland via TVPC.com too.
  7. Yep. I did some crazy things when I was a kid. Heck, at 15 years old my "father" put me on a Greyhound bus from San Francisco, CA to Chicago. I can't believe I wasn't kidnapped in a whole host of scary bus stations in some scary cities with scary people. Just imagine what the bus station in Reno Nevada was like. Ewwww. I often wonder if one of the guys I met on the trip wasn't a sex offender.
  8. We use Netflix, Vudu, Crackle, Pandora, Justin.tv, some radio stations, a few exercise channels, "Popcorn Flix", BBC World, Nowhere TV, and USTV Now (when we are outside the US) Some are private channels. Have you read up or installed any? If not, there's some quick info which includes a link to a list of private channels http://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/tips-and-tricks-for-optimizing-your-roku/ For live cable TV channels, we use an RGB cord hooked from laptop to TV and link off of projectfreetv or tvpc.com
  9. THis is specifically why I have quarterly pest control. I found one in my shoe when we first moved into our house. So cliche, but true. They like to crawl on the ceiling and will drop down on you in the middle of the night. Yep. Nasty critters. If you take a black light outside at night, you can see them glow. I found a few in the garage that way.
  10. My adoptive "father" was an ass. But this past December, my biological father contacted me. We've talked, texted, emailed, etc almost everyday since. There's no doubt he's my Dad (I never used that term until recently). We are two peas in a pod, I'm like a clone of him. I love him and am over the moon that he's such an incredible man. Finally, at 30+ years old that I can say I have a Dad. So that is why it's my first real Father's Day
  11. I am blessed that I have a wonderfully close relationship with my birthmother. I have sent her a Mother's Day gift every year since I found her 15 years ago. It's always a pain in the butt to find a Mother's Day card that seems appropriate. Maybe one day Hallmark will come up with a card along the lines of "Thank you for giving birth, being selfless while never knowing me, until I found you 22 years later". Thank you too all the parents who chose life. This is the first year I get to celebrate Father's Day
  12. Yep. Maybe they didn't have any part in it. I dunno. It's too early to know I suppose.
  13. I appreciate the news aspect. But the political comments are ridiculous. I'm so accustomed to topics being split that I'm surprised this one hasn't been split into two topics. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not that surprised it hasn't been split.
  14. Here's a NPR link for you. My NPR link Now that I did some journalistic work for you, can you tell me why this isn't in the Political Forum?
  15. Why is it named the "woman's club" anyway? Is it a club for just one woman? It is a rather small building so maybe they can only fit one woman in there
  16. I never had an option when I lived within the city limits of Dallas. The price wasn't bad but the service was HORRIBLE.
  17. We had a GREAT time! Went down to Pit Road, took tons of pictures, had the hospitality suites so free food and drinks too. The mud was INSANE...cars stuck all over the place. The camping area was an absolute cesspool. I'd NEVER in a million years camp there. But we had a great time. I now know why people say that you have to hear it to enjoy it. We stayed for the entire race even waited out the rain. The only thing that sucked was it was absolutely FREEZING the last few hours. I had two shirts and two jackets on and I was still frozen to the bone. I'd do it again in a heartbeat
  18. Beautiful. Happy Anniversary and many, many many more to you! It's amazing how years fly by like nothing when you love the one you are with.
  19. Her daughter's show, "Whatever, Martha" is HILARIOUS!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stYKwUt9zes
