I am right along with you that they should be investing their money in the US but the problem is they can invest their money in other countries a lot cheaper then in the US. You can't fault a company for investing somewhere that give them a better return on their money. The US needs to change its tax laws to give the companies a better rate of return on their investments if we want to keep them here. Thus one of the reason we give companies tax breaks. What do you think would happen if we made our country more tax friendly to businesses? Businesses would have a reason to invest here

It is not just large corporations that do their business offshore. Even small business do it. I have a buddy who owns his business that supplies tools and supplies to construction companies. He gets his stuff from China because it is cheaper which allows him to sell his products at a price that people can afford and still make a profit so he can put food on his table, pay his employees a decent wage yet still have enough money left over to reinvest in his company. Even without the lobbyists the politicians would probably give the same advantages because typically it benefits either their district or their state in some shape or fashion. How is a corporation robbing us blind? Because they don't pay more of their own money to the government? If we forced corporations to pay more taxes where do you think that money would come from? Their profit?? Hardly. It would come from the consumers because we would be forced to pay a higher price for the service/product that the corporation provided. We give tax breaks to corporations all the time. How do you think Paulding Co attempts to get corporations to move here? We offer tax incentives. If having lobbyists get politicians to change tax law to give them a break then we need to get rid of the politicians who vote for the tax breaks and outlaw lobbyists. We should sanction a company because they are trying to make a profit? The problem is not the companies. The problem is our draconian tax laws. If the government was really serious about getting that money that is currently overseas they would change the laws so there is no longer any benefit to keeping that money overseas. Why do we vilify corporations, and for that matter "wealthy people", because they look for ways to pay less taxes and maximize their bottom line when we as individuals do the exact same thing every year? When someone uses deductions to lower their taxes I don't hear them complaining that they should not be allowed to use deductions to lower their taxes. I get what your saying LPPT. But our tax dollars pay for a service and we receive that service which our tax dollars paid for. There is nothing saying that the company must then give MORE money back to the US after they provided the service which they were paid for. The government does have the option of not paying them billions of dollars.

I stick with my auto insurance company that way I get a discount. My auto insurance went down $50 a month when I added my home insurance. With the discounts the auto/home insurance is actually cheaper then just the auto insurance alone. And that is for 2 cars.

I am a Vet. I have walked the walk. War is ugly and we do things that at the time might see justified or appropriate. But that still does not make it right. Patents have become a big joke. Just look at the lawsuit Apple filed against Samsung. I mean really, Apple has the patent on a "rectangular shaped phone". :blink: That is sort of like Henry Ford patenting the 4 wheeled vehicle and all others are in violation of his patent. Corporations or any other entity should not be allowed to patent a thought. You should be required a working model before you can apply for a patent.
