Blue, I'm told that's the case, but I must rely upon hearsay. The difference between us and her is that at that age we didn't work for Disney, or Pixar or anyone who requires that our public image be laundered. At 18 I was responsible for getting to class and going to work. As long as I did those two things I was good to go. My public persona wasn't a multi- billion dollar enterprise.

Look up the crime statistics by zip code and tell me if you would want your wife to have a flat tire on Camp Creek Parkway at 11 PM going to the Airport. Now tell me if you would feel better about it if she was armed and knew how to defend herself. Under the old interpretation of the law, she couldn't even drive onto airport property with a gun in the car. Now she can drive, park, and walk to the terminal if she chooses all with a firearm. We are not talking about secured parts of the airport, which fall under federal regulation and still prohibit firearms. As for schools, I agree that

Just wondering. It hasn't hit the web yet. I wonder why they changed their mind after winning the lawsuit with Georgia Carry?

DOS attacks are a nuisance, but do little harm beyond temporarily blocking a website from doing legitimate business. The one good thing about a mass attack like this is that many of the infected computers used in the botnet can be identified and their IP addresses disseminated to security firms and blocked. -
I'm showing my age, but there is just something about the Sunday paper and a hot cup of coffee on a cold morning that you can't get from pixels.

Just got the phone call on our Health Insurance
lotstodo replied to Cathyhelms's topic in RECENT TOPICS
From what I have gleaned over the last few months it is increased usage of the system by the insured, defensive medicine, increased usage of technology, increased drug costs, and an aging population. I have no idea what percentage each plays. -

According to a study by Kiplinger, about 20% of the increase is due to the new law, and the other 80% is due to rising costs. -

I'm in about the same pickle. I have 7 doctors that I must see regularly, and finding reasonable insurance that they all take can be a chore. Fortunately 5 of them are connected to Wellstar, and the other 2 take CIGNA, so CIGNA it is. -

Information about buying and selling firewood

They are about 18", and he charges at least $25 less than I was quoted elsewhere for the same size logs. Plus they are well seasoned and not moist. Like I said, apples to apples. I don't give a darn what they call it as long as vendor A and vendor B are quoting the same amount of wood. In spite of what the gooberment says, I would hazard the guess that you would be hard pressed to find a true 24" log without specifying it because it won't fit most fireplaces. -

I know the difference between weather and climate, but based upon your dust bowl statement, apparently you don't. You can make cheeze up all day long about grocery stores, and I, at least, am not impressed by anything but your ability to pontificate on subjects that are not even remotely related to the subject at hand. A result is called statistically significant if it is unlikely to have occurred by chance, close only counts in horseshoes, and Jones does not say that the period is too short to produce any statistical significance, only that none exists. JSYK, that $1 on your cell phone bill goes into the general fund and not 1 cent has been passed on to any call center. It's a tax scam. -
Just a thought, did you make it clear to them that you needed to leave this afternoon or did you act like it was no inconvenience at all? The reason I ask, is even though they said a couple of hours, they may not be aware that they are interfering with your schedule. Of course, I would think that most parents would have checked in by now in any circumstance, but there is no license or test required to have kids. If you are worried about the parents well being, then I would call the SO, but if you are just mad because you have to change your schedule is it really worth it?

Survey Says.......... • The majority of physicians (60%) said health reform will compel them to close or significantly restrict their practices to certain categories of patients. Of these, 93% said they will be forced to close or significantly restrict their practices to Medicaid patients, while 87% said they would be forced to close or significantly restrict their practices to Medicare patients. • 40% of physicians said they would drop out of patient care in the next one to three years, either by retiring, seeking a non-clinical job within healthcare, or by seeking a non-healthcare re

Information about buying and selling firewood

Way back when, a face cord used to be a half of a cord. The advent of manufactured fireplaces meant that a lot of folks couldn't burn 24" logs, and the industry switched to logs measuring 16" to 18" as a defacto standard. That means that a face cord (what most people inaccurately refer to as a cord, and what most people buy) is somewhere around 45 cubic feet. Just be sure that you are comparing apples to apples when you are buying firewood. Ask the supplier if they mean a face cord, and how long the logs are. I built a wood rack that is 8 ft. x 4 ft. so I can immediately tell if I a -

Global Warming Scientists Rethink How to Frame Their Argument
lotstodo replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
"Statistically significant" is what I said and what Jones said. Take the time to read the entire sentence and stop making a fool of yourself. No statistically significant results mean that the results may be ignored because they either fall within the margin of error or can be easily explained otherwise. They provide no proof of theory. In other words, there is no evidence of AGW in the last 15 years in spite of recorded increases in CO2. Then you talk about the dust bowl as if that has any bearing whatsoever on scientific evidence for AGW. (BTW, the dust bowl drought was caused by La Ni -

Then I strongly suggest that you look at the backgrounds and education of each author of each section of the IPCC report. There were some 620 authors assigned sections that in many cases were completely outside of their area of expertise.
