I agree with the DA, robbery is a forcible felony. They are justified in using force up to deadly force to stop the act.

Police video from Macland car chase this morning

Huh? It is plain as day.....and all criminal charges are misdemeanors unless otherwise noted with felony status. 40-6-14. (a) It is unlawful for any person operating or occupying a motor vehicle on a street or highway to operate or amplify the sound produced by a radio, tape player, or other mechanical sound-making device or instrument from within the motor vehicle so that the sound is plainly audible at a distance of 100 feet or more from the motor vehicle. -

100% wrong. Loud music from a vehicle has always been against the law. -
Can someone explain the reasoning in widening Bill Carruth Pkwy?

Once the East Parkway is finished you will have much more northbound traffic heading to those same cross streets that was not there before. -
Can someone explain the reasoning in widening Bill Carruth Pkwy?
Ugadawgs98 replied to tbird's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Because through traffic on the road is already heavy and there will be a substantial increase in localized volume as people access the medical facilities near 278. Widening the road around the facilities will help handle the extra volume which will be heavily centered in that general area. -
LE is tasked with not only acting on obvious violations of the law but also with investigating conduct which which could reasonably be connected with a violation of the law. That is why the courts have separate standards of proof for what is considered probable cause and what is reasonable suspicion. Reasonable suspicion gives the officer the power to temporarily detain a person for the purpose of conducting that investigation. So your analogy that LE needs a crime to stop you and if you are under arrest you can simply leave at your choosing is false.

BS. I have never worked with anyone in LE who knowingly worked to convict the wrong person. Sometimes mistakes happen, sometimes evidence seems to line up out of chance, sometimes victims/witnesses point to the wrong person but instances of true malicious misconduct by anyone in the CJ system are rare. While I will admit there have been incidents in the past I have never found anyone who looks for"an innocent they think they can convict, it is sometimes okay with them" attitude. It is not routine or common as being implied, matter of fact it is shocking when it happens. My worst fear would

Unfortunate and there is certainly no way to compensate a man who 'lost' that much of his life. Our system is the best in the world but will never be perfect as long as humans are involved.

Deputy Coroners handle most of the on scene investgations everywhere but in the small counties. The Coroner is normally the agency head who is responsible for the final conclusion of all cases reported to their office.

Here is a scenario for those saying 'if the activity is legal then any action involving them is nothing more than trampling of rights'. There is a guy taking pictures of young children playing at a park who is also offering them candy if they come over to his vehicle. LE is called even though taking pictures of children in public and offering them candy is not illegal. Should LE ignore the call or investigate? Now lets say the officer arrives on scene and finds the male sitting in the car. He appears to be wearing a wig to disguise himself and there is no license plate on th

Man...this thread took off with basically no infomation. There were suspicious activities under suspicious circumstances and LE investigated. There is nothing illegal or un-Constitutional about that. Some seem to think unless you can prove he was committing a crime on the spot no one can legally make contact him because he is "doing nothing wrong". You can be be detained for investigaion if reasonable suspicion exists, probable cause is the later standard that must be met to charge criminally.

I have no experience of a primary care doctor who was unwilling to treat a patient with a valid medical condition. "So you have back pain? Instead of treating the condition or writing a prescription myself I will send you to another doctor who will simply write the prescription and offer not other treatment". If people don't see the problem with that I do not know what to tell you. Also, the doctors at the pain clinics are under the same regulations as the primary care doctors.
-
All 'pain management' clinics are pill mills. There is no service they provide that you cannot get from a primary care DR who knows the patients history, knows the condition, and can monitor the effects of the medication more effectively.

All the comments about "truck drivers speed everywhere" are way off base. It is simply an optical illusion and the brain believes they are moving faster than they really are. It is one of the first things LE learns in speed detection classes along with the factors curves and hills play into human perception of speed. CDL drivers are consistently some of the safest on the road because their livelihood depends on it. They are held to a much stricter standard when it comes to their license and as little as two simple traffic citations can take them off the road.

Bad Accident
Ugadawgs98 replied to chansky's topic in NEW Scanning the County - Emergency Services radio Traffic Reports
Lots of lanes filled with drivers who try to beat the light. DOT probably needs to make the left turns onto 278 from 120 and Bill Carruth by arrow only. It will slow down traffic but with the increasing number of stupid drivers it may save a few lives. -
Caylee Anthony is over....must have some time on her hands given that has been her show for the last 3 years.

I don't know the exact circumstances of that persons situation but there is no question LE has the power to enforce certain parking violations on properly marked areas such as Handicap and Fire Lanes even on private property especially since they are marking those area as such to comply with the law. As for the other stuff, yes I am aware many traffic codes do not apply to private property. However, reckless driving, DUI, laying drag, cruising/loitering, hit and run, and all the vehicular homicides do. Here are the specific laws that cover the entire article dedicated to parking.

...............

Sounds like they were tying to determine the person who is entitled to the parking privilege was actually in the vehicle. It is not like it is not uncommon for people to fraudulently use a handicap permit as some sort of 'close parking' pass. Handicap parking violations are enforceable anywhere in the state.

Man....dealers think of everything. Nitrogen 'membership" for $50.

Not true with anything that falls under family violence. It is up to the state to determine if a prosecution is warranted although the request of the filer is taken into consideration. Also filing a report that will not being investigated (due to request not to press charges) does not hold much water down the road. The officer simply details the complainant's unverified version of events and no investigation is done which means the account is never proven or corroborated.

I don't see Academy as a "gamble". Academy's selection and variety gives it the ability to draw people from miles around such as BPS and Dick's do. There are so few true mega sports retailers they always have a huge draw from not just the local neighborhoods but also from the distant surrounding area. Most of the smaller retailers such as Sports Authority are basically apparel and shoes with a little equipment mixed in. Academy has a full selection for dozens of popular activities. People 50 miles away won't drive to Hiram for a Sports Authority type store, they will for Academy.

For all who think they would not mind finding a loved ones unexpected death/serious injury while browsing an online forum.....I guarantee the day it happens you will not feel the same way.

It is just a reflection of the outrageous prices being charged for new vehicles. There are plenty of vehicles on the market from non luxury brands that cost more than a 3 bedroom home did 20 years ago.
