  1. I'm not big into food, but here's my list: The Martyn House in Ellijay (just stayed there for my honeymoon. It's farm to table, organic food, and it is INCREDIBLE!) Harvest on Main in Blue Ridge (the food here was insanely good) Vortex in L5P or B&D in Savannah for burgers Mrs. Wilkes in Savannah for southern food (mucho better than Lady and Sons) The Crab Shack on Tybee for shellfish - I can eat darn near an entire 2 person platter there.
  2. Since Mei Lan threatened to kill me - I don't have the pics back from the photographer yet, but these are some that guests took These are our four kiddos - the ones on the ends are mine, and the middle two are his. ♥ Our hella-awesome groomsmen. This is my best friend, both of our sisters, and our two girls. ♥ '
  3. I have a pool, actually...but the younger three can't swim and I'm slightly overwhelmed at the idea of keeping an eye on three 5 and under non-swimmers at once. The wedding was fantastic! We didn't get married in the woods, but we did have an awesome little gathering at the gazebo in downtown Dallas. ♥ And, I had the most amazing officiant EVER!
  4. Whoas. I went from me and the Mini-Me's to Me, the Hubby, and four Mini-Us's . How on earth did I wind up with four under the age of 8?!?! Now, for the important question - what is there to do around here with four kids this summer? They're 1, 3, 5, and 7 - oldest two are girls, and the youngest are boys. We have Six Flags passes for us and Mini-Me, so we plan on doing that during the week (the middle two aren't big enough to ride much of anything. ). I added pics about eight posts down since Mei Lan was threatening to cut me.
  5. I don't know about homes, but I can tell you about apartments. I've moved out of two, so far, and both times a crew of friends and I (two of whom clean homes for a living) spent an entire day after the move scrubbing and scouring the entire apartment...only to still get charged a 'cleaning fee' and not get my deposit back. Sooo....I can't guarantee I'll be cleaning this place (a complex I've lived in previously) as deeply as I did the first time I moved out. We even scrubbed the inside of the oven, the walls, the light switches, repainted everything....the light switches were filthy when
  6. I was raised to believe that redheads don't touch red or pink anything unless you're Julia Roberts playing a hooker or have a best friend named 'Ducky'. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I purchased a couple of pink and red lipsticks for my pin-up bachelorette party this weekend. You're absolutely right - there is such a thing as the right shade of red (or pink). While I doubt I'll wear either daily, it feels great to have color on my lips again.
  7. I went to a total of 6 proms (none including my own senior prom, which I skipped to go fishing with my later husband), and a total of 6 military balls and dining outs. My two best friends went to different schools, were in JROTC, and I always wound up being their 'date' to everything. They bought the tickets and supplied the ride/dinner. I bought my dresses from vintage shops around $25-50 (Vintage by Judith on the Marietta Square was, and still is, absolute heaven for unique but gorgeous dresses). I always did my own hair or had a friend do it, and I sometimes had my nails done.
  8. It needs to pour right around 5:30/6pm in the East Paulding area. Mini-Me has softball practice but a) I have eighteen hundred papers due tomorrow and Her dad is no-showing again. Today, I'm not in the mood to break hearts. Again.
  9. I've had alot of those moments here lately. Out and about, without the kids, I now get 'How many kids do you have?' all the time. Never fails, I start looking around for whatever tell-tale sign gave away that I have children and can never find a darn thing. I just look 'that age', as one professor put it. Then I took out my lip ring and got rid of the teal hair, and suddenly I'm getting 'Oh, you grew up!' comments. Wha? If I dyed my hair tomorrow I'd be younger than I am today? Gotcha. The soon-to-be-hubby has mentioned that I'm 'pushing thirty' several times this month.
  10. I know two of them personally, and am a former Pagan myself. My mom is, too, actually. Unfortunately, Pagan isn't on the list of approved religions to interview.
  11. Oh, I know! I was raised Christian. This particular class isn't a study of religion, though, it's a study of tradition. Catholicism has an entirely different set of traditions and beliefs than say....Baptists or Protestants? So, for this class, we study them separately. Buddhism and Hinduism are very, very different 'religions', but alot of their traditions are similar so we actually studied those together. Don't ask me questions, I don't make the rules, my professor did. Can't interview a Baptist, Protestant, Methodist, etc., but a Catholic is a-okay. Awesome, thanks!
  12. ^^ THIS would be incredible. Mini-Me and I just visited the Mandir in Lilburn today so it'd go right along with the paper I have to write on our trip. Epiphany - I shall message you! ♥
  13. I figured p.com would be my best bet, as Facebook is returning zero interest. Sometime in the next week, I need an interview (email works...I actually prefer email) with someone of a different religion. I would prefer Hindu or Catholicism, but anything other than Christianity will work. My class separates Catholicism completely from Judaism and Christianity due to traditions, not beliefs (it's a class on tradition, not religion), so don't let me offend anyone. I already have an interview with a Rabbi and one with a fellow student who is Muslim. Just send me a PM if you know of someon
  14. I concur! HA! I giggled when I saw this after reading the above. I call my grandmothers. My mom called her grandmother, too, actually. None of us call our mom.
  15. Not meeee!!!!!....but the only thing I've read about it was the crazy thread on p.com and I know better than to absorb any 'news' from here. My opinion was swayed by the 911 tape. I don't even really care whose voice that was screaming (though, it sounds to me like a young kid, not the dude on the phone) - if someone is rapidly following me, you best bet I'm going to defend myself. The 911 operator told him, specifically, that they didn't need to follow them, and he said 'Okay' and did it anyway...then wants to complain about self-defense? No, sorry. I can't chase someone down and then g
  16. I concur. Really though, my grandmother and I talk about everything. I know things about that woman (and my now deceased grandfather) that I'm fairly certain she's never shared with anyone - she's way too old-woman Baptist to talk of such things. But, at the same time, I tell her everything - even the things I wasn't so proud to tell. If I've done it, she knows it, though I tend to spare her the details. I have an awesome big brother. He sucked growing up, but he's been an incredible uncle and brother since I got married and had kids. It's awesome that you've sort of adopted
  17. I'm 26 years old and still call my grandmother when I'm bored, under stress, or need someone to talk to. Actually, I call her every few days just because I kinda feel like something is 'off' if I haven't talked to her in a few days. It's 1:13 on a Sunday morning, I'm WIDE awake...and I can't call her, because she's golfing in Myrtle Beach. She's 81, and just now complaining that a day of bowling, meals-on-wheels, doing taxes at the senior center, and an evening church service cause her to be tired before midnight. So, who do you call when you're bored? I can't be the only grown-adul
  18. I wouldn't even know where to get one of those. I hike with someone who's trained and has all of that, but I pretty much just take off with nothing but bottled water (and a very light pack with a couple of diapers/wipes/first aid stuff if the baby is on my back).
  19. So, we went to check it out - about 45 minutes in, it started pouring. Twas fun! I should learn to check the weather, though. I prefer to hike barefoot or in paper-thin soled shoes, and neither of those are conducive to hiking in the pouring rain. I pissed off a very large deer, and nearly pee'd myself. Then we were harassed by a turkey. Interesting afternoon/early evening!
  20. You suck. So...how do I know what is Paulding Forest and when/if I'm in someone's back yard?
  21. I don't care what you do, if it means I get some deer this year.
  22. From where are you getting 2am? The first 911 call was made at 7pm.
  23. I have no idea. Over the past year, I've posted about camping and hiking, and the awesome folks on p.com keep directing me there. So, we've decided to check it out. Yep. With maps that make zero sense to a non-hunter.
  24. Does anyone know how to park and hike to camp at the PNF? The map shows a check-in, and the directions say '7 miles down 278'. Super descriptive, there, folks. I need a little more direction than that.
