  1. I just got off 278...didn't see anyone going the wrong way down here (Ingles area).
  2. ...in my prayers...just a baby...*sigh*
  3. I have a bad temper when driving...because people drive like idiots. I don't do anything nuts though...growl, sometimes yell (but always with my windows up), typical stuff. Things like this upset me greatly. An innocent life is gone over someone who was in a hurry, or couldn't manage their own anger.
  4. Did anybody ever release the names of the victims? Hubby and I know way too many people down that way, and nobody's phone numbers.
  5. I'm all for being pro-active too. What minimal energy it takes to actualy 'make an effort' in something like this is well worth the possibility of saving a life.
  6. You're not the only one that gets all upset...I'm scared to death to take my 2 year old out on the road. People don't watch what they're doing, or consider the 'what-if's about the two seconds infront of them, they only worry about the 'right here right now'. I used to be a very 'flighty' person, but mommy-hood turned me into someone that takes consequences into consideration before I do anything. Sometimes it's silly stuff, like which way to walk to the pool at the apartments, but ALWAYS with driving. I feel so sorry for those who lost loved ones today.
  7. absolutely gorgeous! I love the layering work you did on this.
  8. crazy story...hubby was in a band. Lightning struck the ground outside during band practice, and struck every single one except my hubby. The singer had his arm burned through the mike, the bassist and guitarist were both hit. The lead guitarist was barefoot on concrete and it knocked him 10 feet back into a cinderblock wall. He was taken to the hospital...it was scary scary. The only reason hubby didn't get hit was because he didn't have anything electrical. He just watched them all fall and thought 'what the h*ll...it was just thunder!'...
  9. I'm the same way about Hubby...he works night shift so from about 10:30-11:15, I'm super nervous...and then from about 7:30 until he walks in the door. God forbid he be late...and he always has the music turned up so he can't hear his cell phone ring when I call 15 zillion times to make sure he's okay. If I hear 'but I'm a safe driver honey' one more time.....! He doesn't understand that it's not HIS driving that I worry about!
  10. I almost had this happen to me in my car on the Fourth. I stopped, waiting for cars to pass so I could turn into my subdivision. I looked in my rearview mirror, and saw a white Jeep turn at the light a good 100 yards back. He never even slowed down until he was RIGHT on my rear...as soon as it 'hit me' and his tired started squealing, I slammed on the gas and moved. My 2 year old was in the back seat and I have NO doubt she would have been hurt. The guy stopped, and I jerked into my subdivision and stopped...wouldn't you know he drove away cussing and screaming at me? Hello? I was stopp
  11. I went to the Marietta Square for fireworks, but we left Dd at my moms. Every year all the neighbors shoot off in the cul-de-sac. This year they did the legal ones from the tent at Wal-Mart, and they had about 7 garden hoses ran to the middle of the pitchers mound (the middle of the cul-de-sac...it's been there since I was a kid ) One neighbor, the only 'non-gardener' actually went and bought a faucet splitter and 6 hoses so he'd have two extra long ones also just in case...all hooked up and ready to go. They didn't even have anything that went further than maybe 6 feet in the air...but b
  12. well darn. I guess I can try that. To put it simply, without releasing info I'm not 'allowed' to, my husband was robbed at gunpoint at work last night (he works night shift). The dude pistol whipped him upside the head. He's a little shaken up (and bruised up), but he's okay for the most part.
  13. Just curious. Something happened in Cobb (Smyrna) last night that I want some info on, and I can't find it on the scanner. For some reason the Smyrna scanner goes offline after 1:30-2:00, and I need around 3:30am
  14. That sounds like a land survey. I only say this because my friend's dad takes off from Hiram to survey, and I've ridden with him twice. If they were at the elementary schools they might also be doing what's sort of a 'zone check'. My dad (a cop) told me about it. Choppers go out every once in a while to make sure that, in the event of an emergency, they have safe access. That would make sense too.
  15. My dad is a Cobb Officer, and while I can't tell you anything 'official' (simply because I haven't talked to him, and don't know), I can tell you that there is a really tight group within the departments and several of them live out here. Most live in the areas posted above. If they weren't actually responding to something, my guess would be that they heard the accident and took off. Typically, once they cross the Cobb/Paulding line, if they're 'beat cops' and not SWAT, they don't respond. Technically, they're off the clock once they start heading home. I know when my dad wrecked a bunch
  16. My dad works for Cobb PD, and got a call last week about a 12f who 'wouldn't go to school'. That's actually what the mom called and reported! He called me on the way there and it sounded alot like "whycan'tpeoplejusttakecontroloftheirown****kids.Imsickofhavingtogoparentforthem.Wer hereto controllawbreakers.StayonthephoneorImgonnagooffonthiswoman!' I was dying laughing the entire time, which of course upset him worse. Sadly, it's the third kid he's had to go 'scare' into going to school since Spring Break. There wasn't any 'refusing' to go to school in my home, and my 'cop dad' didn't
  17. He started on East Paulding, then Mt. Tabor. I was going 'uh oh...heading my way'...then he turned down Bobo and I changed to 'uh oh, heading my parents way...' lol. Bobo is pretty easy to speed on, but I can't say I've ever gone 70! Then again, 70 isn't all that fast for a police chast. The crown vic can do 120 easy. I've seen video's of my dads chases...they can be plain scary. My best friend is a dispatcher, and she said she hasn't heard of an officer hurt, so I guess it was the suspect.
  18. Anyone catch the chase tonight? I heard it on the scanner, it was pretty intense. Anyway, I'm asking because the car that was running and a patrol car both wrecked (there were four or five chasing him), and an ambulance was called out, but everything was coming in in pieces (adrenaline can do that to a poor cop!) and I never caught whether it was the suspect that got hurt, or an officer. My dad's a Cobb Co. officer, and my heart hurts when I hear another officer down.
  19. At the other end of old harris? You mean, 50 feet from the light at McDonalds? Why? lol. Nobody uses that road unless they're going to the bowling alley. If they want to head toward Hiram they can make a right easy at that intersection...if they want head towards rockmart then they can go 278 easy. From that part of Old Harris, it's easy to find an alternate route. It's the apartments that have problems, especially if not going to Hiram. I lived there...and I hated going anywhere...lol
  20. That's why I didn't hear or see anything. It's the only building I don't have to pass going in and out, and it's also a good distance away from us. I'll have to stop by the office in the morning and see if they need anything
  21. Hey cousin! lol. No, we still don't know anything about it. I can say that the fire alarms here are absolutely incredibly (and incredibly annoying). When there's a fire in one apartment, the alarms sound outside the entire building as well as inside each apartment in that building. I live in the middle, and I know I've heard the alarms in the four buildings around me, but I don't think I've ever heard the ones from the front two. Of course, if flames were 'seen' then it was probably from the road, and probably one of those two. I'll have to drive through and check later.
