Standing a slanted broom up and it stays put?
lilgallowsmama replied to Mrs G's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Totally read 'Standing slanted in a bedroom'. -
The most recent studies show the brain isn't fully developed until the age of 25. Add the newfound 'quarter-life crisis', and you're about right. I do disagree with changing minimum voting age simply because I have a really hard time, morally, with sending men to war for a country who won't allow them to have a voice in what/who they're fighting for. Other than that, (even being a leftie ), I actually kind of agree. However, I also think that one should have to take a (free) course in government and politics before being allowed to register to vote and/or getting your 'Under 21' bar rem

After observing the lunacy on p.com over the past day or so, I was fully cognizant of the impending full moon. P.com is more accurate than the Hijri Qamari.

See, most people say I'm not grown up because of things like that. Apparently, there's some several-decades-long conformity necessitated between the two periods of uncaring in order for the title 'grown-up' to be applicable.

Which one's the absentee ballot number? I know nothing about ballot results. -
Awesome! I will send you a PM. ♥ It's a little late tonight, but I will definitely call them in the morning (or pass the number off to him).

A friend of mine was one of the homes severely hit in Southern Trace. Tomorrow, Mini'est Me's dad is heading in to start the salvage and scrap now that the insurance company has done their part. All the talk of people wanting to help and...nobody is volunteering for this part. I'd go myself, but one of us has to keep the LO and, obviously, he's better suited for salvaging than I. Any takers? He just needs hands to help him go through things.

Lucky you! In my religion, if I screw up too much I might come back as an ant! (My other half swears I'd be better suited as a praying mantis or spider, though. ) -
My dad and step-brother taught both my younger cousin AND Mini-Me to say 'Mama, get in the kitchen!' (with a cute smile, never in a mean way), as soon as they can talk. Cracked me up. My step-brother is, without a doubt, 'that guy' that everyone wants to clone to marry their daughters. Talks a big talk, but does so with a big pretty smile and a big-hearted laugh.

I'm Buddhist. I'm also a carnivore. That's sort of a no-no (actually, that's a big no, no). When people say 'I thought you were Buddhist?', I simply respond with 'I said I'm Buddhist, I never said I'm a good one'. But, how many people are willing to admit that? 'I'm Christian, but I suck at it,' or 'I believe in God, but I disregard his rules'. Very, very few. I think people should take the time to look at their own religion and what bits and pieces of it they do/do not follow before they criticize others of a tradition they know very little to nothing about. Unless you'r -
^^ that's how I feel. I dated an actual chauvinist who popped off with things like this and it drove.me.nuts. The soon-to-be-hubby is far from, though, and just does it to make me giggle. In reality, you're much more likely to find him in front of the stove than I.

KSU fees are insane. I use Family Savings Credit Union, and they have Visa backed Debit cards. I've yet to run into anywhere that I have to use an ATM, unless it's cash only. Also, you can do 'banking' at any credit union that's a part of the Georgia system (and there's one close to both West Ga, and across the street from KSU, if your son goes to either of those).

You and I rarely agree on things religiously or politically, but I'm actually sort of on your side of this one. But...I'm also knee-deep in religious studies. In my Indian Philosophy class, we're in the middle of a semester-long debate about the caste system and I seem to be the only one who isn't entirely against the caste (as intended). And the reason I use is the one you just posted - if each generation comes in and changes things, what's the point of the tradition in the first place? The example I used in class, which won my professor over, is devout, bible-studying Christians who -
^^ that. I live with someone who pops off with stuff like that. And it cracks me the hell up, because I am NOT a Suzy Homemaker.

I think it's hilarious. Then again, I'm about to marry someone who pops off with things like 'If you were in front of the oven, you'd know', when I ask what time it is, or 'The only words that should be 'feminine' are kitchen, bedroom, laundry, and mop' when discussing masculine and feminine words in German. So....yeah....I have to have a sense of humor or I'd just stay offended.

White Oak is booked. We were originally going to have the party there in an outdoor pavilion, but now the weather channels are calling for rain on Saturday, which is why I'm trying to find somewhere else. It's $150 per four hour block, though. And the block times suck. lol.

>>adding those to my list<< (though, I much prefer the Dallas Mc'Donalds because of the murals. lol)
-
Aw, damn. I have one in need of injuring. Anyway - if he shows up, make him fold undies. Don't let that man anywhere near stairs. So.damn.stubborn.
-
That's actually genius - I'll ask around! The few local garages I know of off the top of my head are packed and ready for garage sales, if it ever stops raining. lol.

We were planning Mini'er me's party this upcoming weekend for the park. He's one, we don't need anything crazy special, but I've put my money into the food/crafts/decor and whatnot instead of a location...and now they're calling for scattered showers. Lawd help me. Any ideas? I'm in a 2 bedroom apartment and my crowd definitely will not fit. I'm calling tomorrow to ask about the Paulding Meadows and White Oak Park pavilions.
-
Ex's of ex's, even! We had an odd bunch there yesterday. Text me tomorrow - I don't know how much help I'd be with Mini'er me hanging out and I *think* the other half is going, at some point, to help with a close friend of his that got hit. We found out today and they've called him for man-type help. I'll see if I can round up a sitter/car and/or more hands.

I totally skipped over this question. As of right now, I think they're okay - stressed, but okay. They have a hotel for a couple of weeks until things start falling into place with insurance companies and whatnot. Little bit now has plenty of clean clothes, and I think the parents now have plenty of clean clothes as well. I'll see what they're doing in the way of food - I would imagine fast food, as the hotel doesn't have a kitchen?
