The kind of car a person drives has nothing to do with their cash flow situation...in fact, those with a nicer car might be less likely to have money as they have higher ownership costs than those with older, paid for vehicles. Why should you have to judge someone to make the simple choice to give them a little money or not? If you want give but to be sure it's used for the stated purpose, offer to pay for a few dollars ' worth of gas rather than hand over money. Or give the adult a piece of your mind, or whatever...sheesh.

Best advice I have for ANYBODY is don't invade an angry cat's personal space - it is scary to be attacked by a cat - their bites are uber painful and get badly infected, much worse than any cat scratch I ever received. To add insult to injury, afterward I had to protect the cat from my (then) husband (who, after having spent the evening with his pal Bud Wei$er, decided he was going to kill it for biting me), drive myself to the hospital, and then report my own cat to both the sheriff's dept and animal control... A similar strategy for dislodging said cat resulted his teeth tearing

I think its called corporate responsibility... -
The newspaper said the dog is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix, which was actually the #1 family pet in the 1950s. The neighbors all said the dog had never shown any sign of aggression. The guilty party in this case is a careless mother. The baby and the dog only did what babies and dogs do...

Another situation in which children should not be allowed near dogs is when they are being fed...Beagle Years ago we had a customer who took their Dalmatian w/them camping at the lake - a group of children came over & the owner let them pet the dog. Later, a small boy, 3-4 yrs old, wandered back over without any supervision at all and was bitten in the face. The owner had put the dog's food out after the kids' earier visit. Dalmatians are not so much aggressive as they are somewhat neurotic and unpredictable; I have owned two. The first was somewhat aggressive toward people coming

No infant or toddler should ever be left alone with ANY DOG.

Nope. Only chg was the FICA re-setting to previous % on mine so far... -
Say as little as possible...not hard to do, those types don't really want to hear anything besides "I know that's right!", anyway. Still makes for an unpleasant business transaction, though, and carries the risk of alienating a customer if you don't wholeheartedly agree with everything they say. Like you, I especially hate when its someone I really like or respect because that kind of ugliness changes the way you relate to a person going forward.
-
Even worse is to have a CUSTOMER come out of left field with the political and/or crazy conspiracy talk - and of course they aren't deterred at all by attempts to change the subject, or even your insistence that you rather not engage in the discussion at all. Naturally those who don't have better sense than to launch into a political diatribe at just anyone, anywhere are generally going to be rather obnoxious & mostly regurgitating what they hear on radio & TV. At least when you're the customer & a salesperson starts up, you have the option to take your business elsewhere.

If the economy is getting better, then why in the world

that^^ every day I read about some company's BEST YEAR EVER/ RECORD BREAKING PROFITS etc...and/or those with millions in the bank sitting on it rather than hiring because they've discovered they can work fewer people longer hours and consumers will keep doing business with them regardless of the quality of their service/product, and increasingly have begun to make excuses/act as apologists on the company's behalf... -
I thought foreclosures were the fault of irresponsible buyers/owners who didn't pay their bills? And I also thought a person's station in life is a result of their choices and how hard they want to work to succeed... That was the story before Obama became president, anyway...

if they are the same as the ones sold at Christmas they are very good pecans

This^^ is the exception and not the rule. A man who deliberately sets out from day one to make your life hell on earth is doing what he 'desires' to do, don't let yourself believe otherwise. The odds of him changing at this point are slim to none. No amount of patience, devotion or even just the tenacity to hang in there on your part will change that-it only gives him another opportunity to abuse you. Had my husband not eventually moved out, I might still be the 'good wife' , hanging in there hoping for a change that wasn't ever gonna happen.

Wow. Thank goodness firefighters and cops have more confidence in their own ability and that of those they work alongside than their friends/relatives (and apparently at least some of the public) have in them. It's kind of a dangerous job. Most of them know (or should) what they're signing up for when they apply for the job.

While trying to be funny isn't the same out being outright malicious, it is often equally as inappropriate and unappreciated in the midst of such a discussion as you describe here...

It's so much easier (and more mature) to just scroll past the threads you consider trolling than to rush to open it and then claim to be offended...or make special threads about them. -

Not Catholic myself but so far I am impressed by the man's apparent humility and concern for people.

Yeah my grandmother gradually signed over ownership of a great deal of property that had been in the family for years, including her own home, to her daughter in return for repeatedly 'helping' my uncle out of similar troubles - this went on til he was well into his 40s. Basically she had nothing when she died as a result. Probably best to limit yourself to maybe moral support but let him suffer the consequences of his actions. He's certainly old enough and presumably capable of choosing whether or not to learn from his mistakes.

Best story in the book in my opinion... although the one about the lady's trip to the library was pretty suspenseful, too.

Saw on FB where Polk Water Authority is advising its customers to boil water a min of 2 minutes. If you are among the fortunate whose power has been restored, that is. Otherwise, might want to pick up some at the store. No word on the reason for the advisory That's all I know.

I noticed the dog's head tracked upward with the ball when the woman picked it up, too. Amazing. Me too. All animals are interesting and awesome in their own way, but there's something about the nature of dogs that sets them apart from the rest.
