  1. Probably because now they have someone/something to 'blame'...or in other words, because they can. Same reason anything people actually need costs so much.
  2. Don't recall reading any of your gripes about it, either, but then it won't be bringing any traffic directly OVER your home, now will it?
  3. As was mentioned previously, some file for disability because (until now) it was their only means to obtain coverage for pre-existing medical/health conditions. Even with the passage of the ACA opening up more options to them, I don't guess anything will change for those people...
  4. Yeah I know people who are on partial and total disability whose physical limitations that impede their ability to work don't seem to curtail their leisure activities AT ALL. And I also know a woman who is confined to a wheelchair who has been denied multiple times...
  5. Interesting. I guess personal responsibility is for everybody else, then?
  6. Right, never mind all those employees he would be putting out of work. Where is the logic? Article I read said the same, that he was threatening to close stores. It was a newspaper article, don't have a link...
  7. I still can't believe the man was elected governor, given his shady past dealings...'bout typical for this state, though, and he fits right in amongst the other crooks down at the state capitol.
  8. This ^^^ person must not live on the west side of the county...
  9. Maybe it would be helpful if those who don't need or aren't planning to actually buy insurance through the exchange would abstain from bogging the website down so that those who do need or want to actually buy insurance could do so. It won't kill them to argue about some other political crap for now - not like they don't have plenty of topics to choose from.
  10. Hardy Chevrolet to the Paulding/Cobb line @ Marietta Hwy and @ Dallas-Acworth (92) to Dabbs Bridge. When you reach Cartersville Hwy (61N) you are in Burnt Hickory and it's a whole other ballgame altogether. To answer feelip's question about less desirable neighborhoods around the old landfill, I remember when there was no such thing as a neighborhood in the unincorporated areas of the county...
  11. Wow. I am relatively certain nobody posting in this thread is among my Facebook friends, and for that I am thankful. Forget alcohol, drugs, the welfare state and even politicians - the internet will ultimately be our downfall.
  12. If it'll keep worthless politicians from spewing 21 hours worth of hot air while they draw a taxpayer funded salary, it can't be ALL bad.
  13. If she needed votes she wouldn't be queen.
  14. Kind of like we'll all die but we don't know when, then.
  15. I would think it's the honor system until your tax return is filed for the year and actual income is known. Estimated income tax is basically the honor system too, until you file your return...except that you're penalized if you under-estimate by a certain amount on the estimated tax.
  16. Why, what happens in October?
  17. Are these amounts co-pays? They aren't much higher than my coverage that costs almost $800/mo...unsubsidized.
  18. I'm amazed at the number of people who can't accept that a Congress that is owned by corporations, including health insurance companies, might say whatever their sugar daddy contributors & lobbyists expect them to say to turn opinion against this law and the people it is intended to help. Your real clue should be their reading of Dr Seuss and other unproductive wasting of time rather than offering something better if they think its such a terrible plan. That is what they're SUPPOSED to be doing for those big paychecks they receive, you know.
  19. Do you not know what the term ration means? It means to allot a fixed amount of a commodity to each individual, which generally happens on the front end...running out of money or deeming something unnecessary isn't rationing. And I believe that's the point she's making, that a lot of bad information has been spread by people who either don't know the facts or have an agenda that isn't supported by the facts.
  20. I think it was maybe offered as some kind of excuse for his mental state and just endured from there....
  21. I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Aiken's passing. Condolences to his family~
  22. They didn't stop a kid from shooting another kid at the bus stop either. I can only imagine what you would say if instead of losing a fight the kid you refer to was instead shot with a BB gun while waiting at the designated bus stop for the school bus to arrive.
