Something On The View (TV Show) Raised My Suspicion
NinaBritt replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Of course it would be inappropriate. I wouldn't want my kid wearing anything like that. That's why I was asking about Postman's OP if they talked specificly about what circumstances it would be inappropriate. I understood it to be just in general. But when it comes to children I have no problem using another word to refer to it. Growing up we (my sisters) always just used to refer to it as our "private area". Now I usually call it a hoo haa. -
Preschooler Told to Change the Way He Signs His Name

Agreed. -
Sounds fishy to me. And thanks for posting this too! The rest of us can look for warning signs and be cautious.

This poor boy, i feel sorry for him. Is this not the stupidest thing you've heard today? The Huffington Post | By Ron Dicker Posted: 08/28/2012 12:25 pm Updated: 08/28/2012 2:09 pm Hunter Spanjer signing his name -- threatening or not? In a move blasted by rights groups, a 3-year-old-deaf boy has been told by his Nebraska school district to change the way he signs his name because the gesture resembles shooting a gun. Hunter Spanjer uses the standard S.E.E., Signing Exact English. He crosses his index and middle fingers and waves them slightly to signify his name. And, Gra

VagIna is the clinical term for female genetalia. To deem it an inappropriate word is just obsurd in my opinion. Were they specific about where the word should not be used? Like in a certain public setting or something? Either way, it's ridiculous and really don't think it should be an issue. -

Volunteers Mandated to Report Suspected Child Abuse
NinaBritt replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That's exactly what I'm thinking. I see more harm than good coming from this. As a side note, I would be absolutely furious if I was reported to DFACS because some "volunteer" reported a bruise that that my son got from sports or some other physical activity, especially if it resulted in investigation or even removal of my son. -

Doesn't ring a bell. There were so many people at that school I didn't know half of them. My maiden name is Betsill, first name Christina. I was and still am good friends with Brittany Peek, Virginia Epperson & Holly Fawbush (she's a crazy one). Know any of them? All there last names have changed now. -
Are You Super Organized, Challenged, Or ...?
NinaBritt replied to ButterflyLion's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I would be super organized and clean if I didn't have a husband or an 8 month old. I try to get things organized and within 5 minutes it goes to sheeze again. DH doesn't appreciate or seem to care about keeping things in a nice orderly way. I don't think he understands the concept about cleaning/picking up after himself. So our house is a complete disaster 75% of the time. But I clean like mad when we have family or company over. I wish it could stay that way for more than 24 hours!! -

Correct! That's what higher education is for. That is originally what this post is about, right? While I don't disagree that it is good to introduce foreign languages in high school, I don't think it's necessary to be mandatory throughout a student's entire education. After all, if someone is going to need to speak a foreign language in life for career purposes and the like then that option will always be available in colleges around the country. Why make it mandatory in kindergarten? Personally I don't feel I should have to learn Spanish just to be able to converse with someone at th
