  1. Thank you all for your well wishes. I am to say I'm doing good for my age. pubby
  2. First, I have no doubt that the vast majority - 99.99 percent of the people who typically read this forum in a given month - would pose no threat to anyone over this issue whether or not they own a gun or not. However, that means that over 2.02 people may be close enough to the edge that they may pose a threat on this score. All it takes is one to go off the cliff on this highly emotional issue. Second, you wrote: I saw that and I can only say that I'm under the impression that late term aboortzions are such an extreme case situation - no one who carries a child eight or nine mont
  3. respond right here. you obviously can. Do you deny that Eric Rudolf blew up crap within 50 miles of where I sit? pubby
  4. You are the one who is asking to open pandora's box. I suggested in the locked topic that you respond via PM if you want to appeal. You have my public answer to the question ... no. pubby You are right. There is a concern that gun toting right wing people who casually call people who have never been indicted for a crime a criminal and people who tell the truth they are liars, might, like others on the right go go full "Eric Rudolf" on members of the community who, in such a discussion, may admit to participating in baby murder. You do know it has happened before in co
  5. This was posted in a second topic by GD: Obviously, I have an interest in having free discussion. The volatility of this topic and the tradition of avoiding it are strong. It is a pandora's box type of question. Perhaps, there may be another way to accomplish the goals of discussion. Perhaps you might try doing things 'privately' ... as this is or could be more easily negotiated in private ... you know like private messaging. I understand that compromise is one of those things those on the far right reject as their mindset is my way or the highway. Indeed, one might even
  6. Because of its importance in this years' debate consider the topic debatable in the political forum. The discussion will be limited to impact of Trump's selection of Supreme Court justices. As most everyone has their feelings on this topic, we will not tolerate personal attacks based on individual choice. Consider a personal attack against another person on this may result in the award of multiple bullets. I insist that the topic not be allowed to expand beyond the political issue at hand; i.e. attacking or questioning the morality of the issue or the relative morality of the indi
  7. Hillary has now arisen and is walking around on the podium. Donald remains seated with Melania to his side. They both were just served dinner but she is not at her seat, having left the stage. pubby
  8. The shtick here is that the candidates are expected to cordial; and funny as they are called upon to make remarks at this white-tie charity gathering that is a tradition going back to the 1940s. Of course it is the tradition of candidates to shake hands before and after the debates; a score on which the Clinton-Trump pairing is batting at best 50 percent. For your viewing enjoyment Hillary is the second person to the right of the podium and a member of the Catholic Clergy sits to her right which is where Donald is seated. They have been taking pains to avoid contact. pubby

  10. and GD said: I'll clarify by saying that Trump just said exactly what CC said today about noon. pubby
  11. The problem with a 'cheap oil' policy is that the use of oil as a fuel has pollution costs that are not baked into its cost. It is kind of like saying that you want to use diapers and you don't care that they smell because you can throw them over the fence for your neighbor to take care of. The costs are called externalized costs and the fossil fuel industry has traditionally externalized its pollution costs on the society in general. This technology is quite promising in part because of its high rate of conversion ... i.e. as high as 70 percent by one measure ... and the authors brought
  12. Well, in the day I did stories about missing cocaine at the sheriff's office. The forum has been used by folks from all points of view to criticize development (The surepips used the forum rather often and we documented some of the original material as well.) Other bits that have been noted here are discussions about boosters of various sorts that were defrauded. My privacy policy asserts that I will fight subpoenas to uncover your identity from local authorities in cases such as that you suggest. If the piece posted were defamatory ... which it probably would be ... you would need t
  13. I've never been a big fan but I given I've heard of him, I can post this presumed meatloaf classic (I really don't recall his work). Still, it is meatloaf appreciation day. pubby
  14. There is a long, proud history of American industry teaming with technical colleges to set up training programs when there are new products or expansion plans made. The US automakers do provide training - typically video - that is sent to their dealers who use repair shops and warranty service for their products. The only reason that this may not be as apparent is because US automakers are not headquartered here. Second, the accountants have traditionally been in greater control of US automakers (particularly before the 2009 bailout) because corporate america has, by definition, a short
  15. Yep, don't think he'll starve. Maybe be blown or washed away ... but starve ... naw. (From a report in the Washington Post) pubby
  16. GWB didn't vote for the measure. Only an idiot would suggest I would throw blame to someone who had nothing to do with it. pubby
  17. SG: I appreciate you pointing out it was our very Republican legislature that passed this abomination. Notably, Micah Gravely ® and Kim Alexander (D) voted NO on the measure while Howard Maxwell ®, Bill Heath®, Paulette Rakestraw ® and Mike Dugan ® voted in favor of this measure. None of the Republicans have any opposition this time around and frankly, I was not surprised by the votes of Heath and Rakestraw. I was disappointed in Maxwell and Dugan position and positively surprised by Micah's opposition. I expected Ms. Alexander to oppose the measure which we all suspect is a way
  18. I too recommend rejecting this amendment as it is a power play to allow the state to take over local schools with no local input or control. It doesn't even provide for a way for the legislature to 'impeach' the 'appointed' superintendent of the schools that would be taken over by such an ill considered and absurd law. Oh, and dogs ... you shouldn't put too much import in a screen name. Go to the members profile and check the posters name history. I suspect the choice of 'vote democrat' choice probably has reference to the "never trump" feeling of a die hard republican. pubby
  19. Yeah, he claimed he thought he was speaking to a racist constituent and dissed two black candidates running for office in the county. Here is the link if blunt trauma's doesn't work. pubby
  20. I don't think being really pissed about the Russians and Syrians killing relief workers is being politically 'correct' ... I think it is justified. pubby
  21. the threat regards Russia bombing humanitarian relief efforts, warehouses for food and medicine and hospitals aimed at relieving the suffering of those literally starving in Aleppo. This was going on before the 'ceasefire' and the purpose of the ceasefire was to allow relief efforts by the middle eastern comparable to the Red Cross (Red Crescent) to bring in direly needed supplies largely for the civilian population. Russian and Syrian Jets agreed to the ceasefire so they could kill relief workers; not ISIS ... Why are you so forgiving of brutal murderous regimes when they kill hu
  22. Censorship doesn't come into it if the government is not involved. No one in the government stopped crazy Michael Savage from making up any paranoid conspiracy he wants. There is a rule in the publishing business that captures the freedom that comes with ownership of a media outlet. It reads " Freedom of the press is the freedom of the MAN who owns the press to print what ever the hell they want. It applies to web sites, radio stations, television stations, pamphlet printers, newspaper owners, book publishers and anyone who wants to stand on their own soap box. As I said above, D
  23. First, let me set the mood by playing this song, primarily because of the idea that paranoia strikes deep, and into your heart it will creep, it starts when you're always afraid, step out of line; the man come and takes you away. you better stop, now watch that sound, everybody look what is going down. So, what went down here. WABC Radio, which for the money he generates, typically provides time on their station for Michael Savage and his paranoid rantings. So, was he taken off the air by station management? Yes. Why? Well, there was a presidential debate and
  24. I watched it last night, CC: It reminded me that Hillary is fighter for the people who made decisions like the private email server primarily as a defensive measure. From her early days in Arkansas when she was Hillary Rodham and immensely criticized because she didn't act like a southern belle to the bimbo eruptions and Monica, whitewater and Jim McDougal, she knew that the conservative forces that opposed progress would root out, complain and blame her, Bill and anyone in favor of progress of any kind in every way they could. When you realize that the private email server was a big TRUC
