  1. I think what is so confusing in the illustrated version is that they are left-handed drivers which is more than confusing from the get go. In a strange way, the key aspect of negotiating a roundabout is cooperation and compromise. I realize that for a lot of the folks posting here both notions attack their sense of individual authority. pubby
  2. My only question is can a self-driving car do it? pubby PS: In the summer I was an intern in Brussels Belgium, I found the roundabouts rather fun. My biggest problem was choosing the right road to exit - The mainland European roads, btw, did have folks driving on the 'right side of the road' ... I don't think I'd attempt a left-handed anything in GB ... even then ... my instincts were way too oriented to our side of the road. Beyond that, I actually like the roundabout on John Ward Road in Marietta.
  3. And so we are to accept your judgment because the last time you supported the Republican ... and what did have to show for doubling the national debt besides 4000 dead GI's and a failed war in Iraq and Afghanistan? ... Yep, GWB literally doubled the national debt and had a really embarrassingly steep decline in the economy - losing 750,000 jobs a month and a market crash - to show for it. Good call there GD. pubby
  4. I doubt the media would become unglued. I think TP noted recently in posts that Georgia and something 43 other states have removed laws that make it illegal for a woman to be topless. I personally think that the level of slime is so deep in this election that a nude statue of either one or both together or apart would be among the milder and more amusing excesses. pubby
  5. That's irrelevant, Dallas Red, what everyone wants to know is whether he is getting harder or softer on immigration. pubby PS: From what I see, it doesn't make any difference. He's basically irrelevant anyhow.
  6. I know about admin tools ... but I also know about what I do ... and avoid doing like the plague pubby
  7. snooping on the highway ... I don't think I've been on the highway more than a dozen times ... probably less ... in my entire life... and that includes looking over other folks shoulders Sorry, but I wouldn't know. pubby
  8. Really? I wouldn't know. Not being one of those folks who particularly cares what sexuality one expresses and certainly not interested in your sexuality, I wouldn't know where you lay on the spectrum of straight-bi-gay . pubby pubby

Showing how Paulding's schools, streamlined with one of thelowest administrative costs among all of Georgia's 180school districts, Superintendent Cliff Cole noted graduationand test performance by local students are well above theaverage and better than similar sized districts despitePaulding's lower investment per student . 11. I posted the story so I could oppose it. Since you didn't direct your remarks to me, I can only ask, did you think that GD knows? pubby
  12. You could say the same about the public highways ... which was done with public ownership and, BTW, you can drive down most highways for free. Didn't they sometimes shoot hobos in the 1930s. The point being that we didn't have to deed more acreage than comprises the state of Texas to a select few people who parlayed that 'transfer of wealth from many to few into some of the most enormous fortunes ever ... to build a transcontinental railroad. That we did was expedient and pragmatic. And the fact we redistributed wealth from the many to the few to do it simply means that redistributi
  13. The question is where do you think this is the kind of grotesque imagery would appear? If you guessed the Washington Post, you'd be right. (at least taht is where I saw it.) I did a little research. The outfit involved is a west coast artist compound with the apt name "Indecline" according to LA Week. The artist, a guy named Joshua Monroe who said he was a Trump supporter. That said, he said he is no fan of Hillary but, as noted by many of those commenting on the Trump statue, the one thing they were thankful for was that it wasn't Hillary. Me too. pubby PS: This is bigo
  14. Hey, I would have supported the building of the transcontinental railroad including the transfer of wealth from all to the few that funded it. My point is that if redistribution of wealth from the many to the few for a legitimate public purpose is good then redistribution from the few to the many for a legitimate public good or purpose is just as good. Said a little differently, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. This is the same argument that was made in 2012 that said that those who have made billions on the Internet did so 'alone' totally ignoring that the infr
  15. I'm glad you brought up the concept of business in a market driven economy. Yep ... the subsidized railroad was not a transfer of wealth and paying off members of Congress had nothing to do with who got the 'job' and who benefited from the project. What is really kind of funny, GD, is the ability of companies to own, exploit and rape other wholly owned companies (and use them to cover or enable criminal activity) is a continuing thing that is 'enabled' by laws written by Congress. You want an example? How about Enron Hell, you might even consider the tax rules and regul
  16. David Austins' salary is set by the state legislature and that salary has not been increased since early in the Shearin administration is my understanding. pubby
  17. what do you mean, it was Johnny Isakson who sponsored the amendment that set up end of life counseling as a billable medical expense because he knew that those ending the last stage of life would benefit from counseling from their doctor(s) as to the likely outcomes of various procedures and their impact on the quality of life. Of course once it was included in the law, other Republicans turned that idea into proof of a "death panel" provision. Why? Because the GOP is addicted to fear as their poor records mean anyone thinking rationally would throw them out on their butts. So, by hyping
  18. You should have read this post. GD: I have also been sworn to protect and defend the constitution of the United States. I dare say I have read and studied the document more than you have including having an official government compilation of the United States Constitution annotated with relevant supreme court cases that explores the meanings of the various clauses and provisions. That document came to me 40 years ago and like most things, this 3000 page effort to 'splain things is now available online here from the gov't. My point is that your view of the constitution and the po
  19. LR: I suspect he went down Clyde Cole road and then over to Hichcock Road to get to the Friendship Church Road area. I get the impression he is not a fan of 'roads' and is more a cross country traveler. He seemed to be 'well fed' as well given he was out of pocket for two full days so I suspect he was depending on the kindness of strangers like the lovable little tyke he is. pubby
  20. You do know that much more than the narrow rights of way were deeded to the railroad companies ... They were given vast tracts of land that they sold to settlers as well as creating 'railroad towns' and even opening mines to exploit the land further. How much land. Ten square miles of land for each mile of track they laid in addition to the contiguous strip of land 400-foot wide right of way. From 1850 to 1871, the railroads received more than 175 million acres (71 million ha) of public land – an area more than one tenth of the whole United States and larger in area than Texas. Oh
  21. Guard Dad: In another conversation recently you said the Government was following the constitution when it deeded large tracts of land to the railroads as an incentive for Cornelius Vanderbilt, for instance, to build railroads. I just want to ask you what makes this redistribution of wealth okay in your book, since you seem to be so adamant that redistribution of wealth is bad as a matter of principle. See, the land deeded by the federal government was largely land taken from the native Americans without compensation and no doubt, included lands that had been reserved to them by tr
  22. I understand the law on tethering. He's more of an inside dog who spends at most an hour or so outside on a tether. (We have a fenced yard in the house in Dallas ... he's been accompanying me to the house on 61 as I work on it. pubby
  23. Chester was returned by PCAC who found him about 2.5-3 miles away south of Ridge Road in the Friendship Church road area. Apparently this time he headed south (last time it was east. ... the time before west (from amother location) . After wagging his tale profusely and bolting inside, he has now laid down at my feet in his normal location. He'll be kept on a lead for a while. pubby
  24. Yes Moorehouse is predominately black college with a great reputation. pubby
  25. If this is true, then it would appear that these folks were discriminated against by a society that is dominated by people with a different gene pool. It is not so different from here in that respect. I think where we - and that would include the mainstream media - were misled, is by our natural deference to authority just not realizing that those whom we most closely identify are just the wrong color. I figure that we all - Brazilians, Americans, Europeans, Asians etc. could all see this injustice and recognize that it is too common everywhere. pubby
