  1. This has got to be one of the silliest, most immature posts I have ever read here on Paulding.com. Shame on me for even commenting on such silliness but have we really reverted back to 2nd grade?
  2. Yes, thank you for asking. I am a member of the Chamber of Commerce and my words above described not one soul that I have encountered with the Chamber. Thank you for the kind words about my Father.
  3. Right at the moment, I am taking a little break from spending time with my critically ill Father. The same Father who taught me right from wrong, who taught me responsibility, who taught me common sense, and a lot of other valuable things in life.............. One of the things he tried to teach me that I obviously haven't learned yet (but I will strive to do so) is to not waste my time on negative, vengeful, spiteful, unhappy people. I think now is a good time to "heed his advice".
  4. Oh good Lord. If you and Whitey are the "all mighty keepers of everyone in Paulding County" and if you must know, we met for lunch in Cartersville because it happened to be the most convenient place based on where we all were on that particular day. Really........get a life.
  5. Hopefully when the commercial service starts at the airport the owners of the Appalachian Grill will consider opening a restaurant here. That would be great! If it makes you feel any better Whitey, I just went on my monthly Sam's Club spree here in Paulding County and dropped about $700.00 into the Paulding County economy. I HATE SHOPPING and that trip to Sam's Club is a brutal one.
  6. I had a 4 hour lunch with Jane Ty and rockysmom one day recently at the beautiful Appalachian Grille in Cartersville. Great food, great company! I love to be around positive people who enjoy life and have a great sense of humor - these two are the total package. I truly can't wait for Jane Ty to move up here and become a fellow Paulding Countian. P. S. I invited you to go with us Whitey - should have taken me up on it!
  7. From what I understand, the FAA is funded primarily by the Airport and Airway Trust Fund which receives revenues from a series of excise taxes paid by users of the national airspace system — and by the General Fund. The Airport and Airway Revenue Act of 1970 created the Trust Fund to provide a dedicated source of funding for the aviation system independent of the General Fund. So, if you fly on a commercial airline, as part of your airfare there are excise taxes which make up the majority of the Airport and Airway Trust Fund which funds the FAA. I understand that there are costs conne
  8. You have a great sense of humor stradial. Seriously.
  9. You have some good points in my opinion, but I am just going by what people that actually live in these areas are telling me. In my opinion, first hand knowledge coming from people who are actually "living out the experience" is pretty valuable. I believe a major difference in our opinions is that I believe (even though PUJ is just 40 miles away from AHJ), that due to AHJ being the "busiest airport in the world", we would have many obvious advantages that the other areas mentioned above would not have. I truly and firmly believe that is why Delta is opposing this so vehemently. I
  10. Interesting question tundra. I think there is a good possibility that the reason that Delta is fighting this so hard is that they now see they missed out on a great opportunity. That is my opinion. I disagree Gone. They most likely would not be "just" purchasing a ticket here. They would most likely be spending money in our county in the process of catching a flight here. Paying sales tax, buying a meal at a restaurant, putting case in their cars, etc., etc., etc.
  11. I provided one example earlier in this thread regarding Valdosta Airport. I have strong ties to the St. Simons, GA area and that area has benefit greatly from the Brunswick-Golden Isles Airport. My sister in law grew up in St. Simons and she and her family have repeatedly told me what great economic impact that airport had on the area - so that is FIRST HAND knowledge. Her father, who is a very successful, long time business owner in the St. Simons area, told me that, in his opinion, we would be making a huge mistake if we didn't consider commercialization (even if limited), at our airport
  12. I am not an economic expert and as far as I know, you are not either and I would seriously doubt that anyone on either side of the airport issue is. As we have discussed here often, Paulding does not have much of anything in the way of natural attractions or even an interstate system that will draw people here. A commercial airport is in my opinion, our greatest hope. Of course Jamie Gilbert with PCED is doing a fantastic job with what he has to work with and has orchestrated several businesses moving to and opening in our area. I believe a commercial airport will help that cause tremendo
  13. Oh my.....if I could tell you how many times in a week I hear that. That is the kind of attitude about these types of things that truly can get people in trouble with such things as contracts, leases, or any other legal documents for that matter. I can't even begin to tell you how many times in my career that I have encountered people that have tried to draft or interpret contracts, etc., and in doing so, they get themselves into a huge mess, requiring the aid of an attorney to help them fix it.
  14. I believe that is what we are saying. It is fine if the anti airport group has attorneys reviewing the contracts, leases, etc. Of course in the legal world just as in the every day world, contracts, etc. are interpreted differently by different attorneys, thus one of the many reasons for having a judicial system. Of course, we can all rest assured that the BOC and the Airport Authority have very competent legal counsel.
  15. Good questions rockysmom! I will admit that I am not a contract and lease expert and I very vividly remember my Contracts and Corporations professor in paralegal school say "leave the contract drafting (leases, etc.) and interpretation to the ones who are actually licensed to practice law - the attorneys. That was very good advice. We covered the basics in this class but I remember him saying over and over again that effectively drafting and interpreting contracts (including leases) was very tricky and tedious and that as paralegals, as with every other area of law, we were not to dispense
  16. Very sweet graveside service in Dallas for Mr. Osborne yesterday. Mr. Osborne truly was a wonderful man who could brighten your day in a heartbeat. He will be missed by many!
  17. I very much agree with the above. I will be the first to admit I have not always conducted myself in a professional manner toward Pat and we don't always agree on issues. He does however have the class and dignity to be an understanding and forgiving person.
  18. That was hilarious! Funny story from this weekend - husband and I are walking around outside and heard noises in the front yard. We have about 12 turkeys that frequent our property and they were all out in the front yard where we have some very old, established pecan trees. The pecans are just now falling to the ground and the turkeys and the crows were in all out war fighting over the pecans. There were blows exchanged and the loudest cackling sounds you have ever heard - it was pretty amazing to watch!
  19. It was Disney's "Planes". I haven't seen that one but I have watched Frozen about a million kajillion times with my 2 year old granddaughter (and enjoyed each and every time.)
  20. I believe it was a free event Gone. I was unable to attend; however, I heard it was a good crowd (I believe there are pictures posted on the Silver Comet Field Facebook page). From what I understand, the only thing that you actually had to pay for was any food that you purchased from the vendors that were set up there on location. Sounds like a great event for the community - especially the children!
  21. I agree. I won't be able to attend on any of the weekends because of prior obligations but it sounds like it would be a blast! I hope they are successful with this and that they do it every year going forward.
  22. Well yes, thank you for asking. I do have a job. I work from 9:30 - 5:30 on the days I go into the office and on the days I work remotely, I work whenever I like. Of course I do take a lunch break and if I don't go out to lunch, I sit in my office and catch up with what is happening on p.com and Facebook. I love working and love having the opportunity to work not just remotely sometimes, but also in the office environment. Any other questions I can help you with today? Oh and by the way, I have great employers and they have absolutely nothing to do with the airport issue and a
  23. I appreciate your post mojo but you misunderstood. I don't not mean the people handing out flyers were angry at the time they handed out the flyers. I have no idea if they were angry at the exact time they were handing out the flyers. What I am saying when I used the term "angry" was that some of the anti airport group were angry in general at the expansion process of the airport. I know that to be a fact as I have witnessed their anger myself on several occasions. I appreciate you being the voice of reason but I can assure you that I am using the term "angry" in this situation in g
